8 down now, get in there Sir Fred!

Good bowler but i personally can't stand the guy, the off the field drunken antics and the hubris of the man. Deserves the 5 wicket haul though.

Going to be interesting to see how Australia come back in the next test, they have to fix Johnson's action or drop him. England deserved the win on the balance of play, but Australia at times were shocking.

England still need another wicket yet. All followers of the English team will understand this!

PG-"Half the fun of the ashes is watching the English supporters torment themselves."

I will be happy to take the torment if it means we win!

Beautiful torment!!!!!!!

Get in you beauty!

All over, Australia up the Swanny.

Well done England.

Now start praying the Freddie is fit to take some part in the rest of the series.

Hope I'm wrong but this has all the makings of a classic England cock-up.

Glad to be wrong for once and a good win by England after the backs-to-the-wall effort in Cardiff.

Same team probably for the next Test although Pietersen should see a psychologist in the meantime.

Pietersen's carrying a bad injury, if anything he should be dropped so he can rehab. It's a measure of his talent that he's still getting decent scores despite not being in any sort of form.

As for today, well Flintoff was immense, but credit must go to Swann and Anderson too this morning. It was a fantastic bowling performance today, really kept the pressure on the Australians and didn't allow them to settle. For mine there was always a danger of Haddin and Clarke batting till after lunch and then it's nervy for everyone involved - as MJ showed, the Aussie tail can wag a little. Fortunately that wasn't the case and England took the victory at Lords for the first time in 75 years against the Australians.

Sets it up for a great series. Australia has to answer the hard questions for any chance.

It'll be a measure of this touring side now - heartbreak at Cardiff and soundly beaten at Lord's. Can they pick themselves up off the floor? If the roles were reversed I'd say the Ashes were in the bag already.

Difference is they aren't 50/50's (which I can take), they are blatantly incorrect decisions. This test for me will decide if England go to win the series, such and important test and we get umpire decisions like that?

They went upstairs for Bopara, what would have been the harm in doing the same for Hughes? What would it have hurt other getting the right decision which is what we all want at the end of the day anyway?

All over, good win by England, consistent bowling and took full advantage of the horrible umpiring.

Australia will be dissapointed for sure but with everything that has gone against them in this match will feel confident going into the next test.

Listen to your captain Ponting did not make excuses because he knows they would just hide the truth

England totally outplayed Australia

Why do you think Australia are confident going into the next test Ponting did not sound confident he talked of using the county match to get things right

The bowling is poor and inexperienced and with only four bowlers gives the Captain few options.

Big decision on Johnson do they play him in the county game and hope he performs or drop him now and give Clark a run out

Big decision on Hughes can he with his stance play the short stuff from tall bowlers on bouncy pitches. The answer is at present no but there are no other openers in the squad

England’s only worry is the Pietersen’s Achilles but with 10 days rest he is going to play and they may also feel than Harmisons can add to what is looking like a good five man attack

Feeling confident Ricky’s not <_<<_<

That's because it was his first 5-wicket haul since 2005.

That wasn't the only dodgy wicket they took. Flintoff stepping over the line when he got Katich I think it was, should've been a no ball. Hussey didn't touch the ball and was deemed to have got a nick on it.

You got all the luck you needed in that test match.

We're gonna win 3-1 ;)

QUOTE (Ste B @ Jul 20 2009, 23:34 ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Appears to be a good one if its winding you up.

Other than that it smells a LOT like Roar of the Rovers....

Not on a wind up, I dislike the English Cricket team, and ever since I was a kid, I've followed Australia in the cricket. There was a programme held at Witton Park, where I won myself an Australian Cricket cap signed by Jason Gillespie, and then met Ricky Ponting at East Lancashire so had a photograph with him. Managed to play a few overs with him, and for him to give me that time of day meant a lot to me at the time, because you rarely get cricketers of his stature offering good gestures like that.

Roar of the Rover is not my account.

Well then it's a good job you don't run the rule round here then. It's up to me who I decide to support, whether you like it or not. I am not on a wind-up nor do I intend to cause any aggrevation around here. I've supported the Aussies for years now, staying awake all night watching the test series VS South Africa, India, England etc, and love watching them.

The fact of the matter is that 3 crucial batsmen of ours were given out with dodgy descions, yes we played badly in the 1st 2 days, but them descions may well have cost us the test match.

We'll hopefully have Brett Lee back for the next test match in 10 days time, but it will be interesting to see who they decide to drop. For me Siddle and Hillfenhaus have bowled pretty well, Mitchell Johnson hasn't been bowling too well, however, he can still get a wicket for us and is pretty useful with the bat, as we all saw today. What do the other Aussie's reckon? Who should be replaced?
