Blue n White Rover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 cant understand anyone who moves abroad and turns traitor or anyone who is from a country and doesnt get behind their country ,id hang em all for treason. You could say the same about football fans, why not support your local team? Cricket isn't my first sport, the only reason I got into it was mainly due to a Roadshow that was held in Witton, like I said before. Ever since then i've supported the Aussies and I don't see a problem with that.
Blue n White Rover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 i do support my local team doh!!! I never said you didn't I'm talking about football fans in general, the amount of foreign fans we have on this message board, and the amount of fans that support Man Utd etc, it's the same concept isn't it?
ABBEY Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 no not at all when it comes to nationality.Would you have fought for the germans in ww2 ?
Blue n White Rover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 no not at all when it comes to nationality.Would you have fought for the germans in ww2 ? That has nothing to do with this. If your so bothered about me supporting Australia Abbey, then why don't you go set up your own campaign and get youngsters to follow England in the Cricket. I can do what I like whether you like it or not, seems to me someone has a problem with me supporting the Aussies, but guess what? You can't do nothing about it
ABBEY Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 dont give two hoots who you support tbh its just a disgrace.
Blue n White Rover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 dont give two hoots who you support tbh its just a disgrace. A disgrace in what way Abbey? Like I said to you before, Cricket isn't my main sport. I just happen to watch it, I am not as passionate about Cricket as I am about football. I'm sure there are football fans who have decided to support a certain club becuase of a kind gesture by the club. I happen to support Australia because of a kind gesture by one of their players, and the last time I saw an England player, he decided to walk past a crowd of people who was shouting his name for attention, without acknowledging them. Ignorant and arrogant.
ABBEY Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 That wasn't the only dodgy wicket they took. Flintoff stepping over the line when he got Katich I think it was, should've been a no ball. Hussey didn't touch the ball and was deemed to have got a nick on it. You got all the luck you needed in that test match. We're gonna win 3-1 and "your " aussies do no wrong eh?
Flopsy Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 People can support who they like, and if you dont like it, Tough. Now get over yourselves. I will say this once, and once only. If people do not play nice, and do not stop being rude and obnoxious above and beyond the normal pom / convict baiting. Ie making it personal attacks. I will ban you to the end of the next test. This is your one and only warning Its a damn poor thing when Ponting shows us how to behave graciously. Now, telling off's over, id drop KP for Edgbaston so he can be fit for the last two. Will the aussies make any changes?
SouthAussieRover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 cant understand anyone who moves abroad and turns traitor or anyone who is from a country and doesnt get behind their country ,id hang em all for treason. Absters, it's called integration as opposed to multiculturisam. I'd drop Johnson and bring in Clark for the next Test. I'd maybe take a punt and bring in Manou, as a batsman, for North.
ffan Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Now, telling off's over, id drop KP for Edgbaston so he can be fit for the last two. Who'd you play instead of him? Shah?
jim mk2 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 . Ever since then i've supported the Aussies and I don't see a problem with that. I see a big problem in an Englishman supporting Australia against England. Treacherous, treasonable, disloyal and immoral.
SouthAussieRover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I see a big problem in an Englishman supporting Australia against England. Treacherous, treasonable, disloyal and immoral. Sounds like your common as a garden , everyday type journalist.
Flopsy Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 I see a big problem in an Englishman supporting Australia against England. Treacherous, treasonable, disloyal and immoral. And uncalled for. If you wish to carry on posting, play nice or you will not post until a week Monday.
Nate Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Absters, it's called integration as opposed to multiculturisam. I'd drop Johnson and bring in Clark for the next Test. I'd maybe take a punt and bring in Manou, as a batsman, for North. I think Siddle should be dropped for Clark.
Blue n White Rover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I think Siddle should be dropped for Clark. Then who would Brett Lee replace?
Redrose49er Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I think Siddle has bowled quite well without much success. Are the Aussies carrying a batter too many, maybe move Haddin to 6 and bring in Lee. As for England, will they be tempted to bring in Harmy? Could Bell replace KP for a Test?
Nate Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Then who would Brett Lee replace? Depends on if he will be fit enough for the next test.
DeadlyDirk Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Lee is struggling to be fit for Edgbaston according to reports, whether or not that's just mind games I'm not sure. On the basis of this series I'd be dropping Johnson, he bowls a few odd good deliveries when he gets it right, some crackers in fact but the rest of the time he is spraying it everywhere which is causing the team to struggle as a whole. They can't set fielding plans for him as he doesn't even know where he's going to bowl it. They can't keep the pressure on at one end as he is likely to give easy runs away which then only makes it harder for the bowler from the other end. Clark always looked threatening when I saw him and I'd be surprised if he doesn't come in for the next test. What's Shaun Tait like now, he always seemed to get it to swing, pacey and another odd action, inconsistent when I saw him but can't be anymore so than Johnson. Heard some mentioning Shane Watson, not sure if he's good enough to be a frontline bowler for a 4 man attack, if he was then surely with his batting he'd be in already. I'd expect England to be unchanged assuming KP and Freddie are fit to play. KP shouldn't be dropped, just a little off form, you don't win a test match and then drop your best batter. There will be discussion again over the final bowling place again, can't see us going with 2 spinners so it's either Onions or Harmison, Onions didn't do a lot wrong but they may decide to give Harmison a go after cleaning up at county level again. All in all though, it's 1-0 and things are going well, keep it up and The Ashes are coming home, with that being said though we can't afford to give the Aussies an inch, show any signs of letting up and they'll quickly be back on top of us.
Blue n White Rover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Depends on if he will be fit enough for the next test. Hopefully he will be fit, we also have Shane Watson back and is expected to play in the 3 day match VS Nothants, so we are looking stronger, hopefully the selectors will make the right choice and pick a team that can take 20 wickets!
Flopsy Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 Watson's unlikely to survive five days, and he looks too sensible to do what Fred did
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Down and Out? Troy Cooley needs to do his job by looking at the footage of Johnson's bowling in SA and in England. Its clear there is something not right with his action you also have to keep in mind this is a guy who destroyed currently the best side in cricket recently. Australia may have to drop him though if he doesn't rectify it in the tour game. Australia aren't out of this series yet, plenty of twists of turn yet to come you feel.
