ffan Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 At the start of his career at Fulham he was brilliant. Then under Colemans coaching he gradually became worse. He played excellently when he had stints in at centre midfield. So all and all if you did sign him, he'd be nothing more than a squad filler.
nicko Posted July 20, 2009 Author Posted July 20, 2009 Not an 11 o'clocker as such. A bit short of bongs... CROUCH - not keen on Sunderland, so that does not help the Jones option. ZAMORA - not keen on Hull, so where does Crouch end up if Fulham don't have the dosh? This is one of those markets when players don't seem to be interested in the moves that would get the thing going. Sunderland have cash but nobody wants to go there. They are chasing a midfielder - buy the paper for that one. Hull are becoming desperate, so anything could happen there. Rovers need to get lucky with their top target...a lot is riding on this. It's the difference between struggle and safety. That simple.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Rovers need to get lucky with their top target...a lot is riding on this. It's the difference between struggle and safety. That simple. Do you know if that one is moving? Or is the static market halting it?
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Top Target - a ) Is there one definite player we are after now? b ) Is he actually good enough to bridge the difference between struggle and safety?? oh, and c) what is his name please
TheNews Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 So where does that leave Crouch then? He doesn't want Sunderland Fulham short of cash spuds no bid (at least yet!) Villa - been there done that Is it just his wages that would stop us from biding?

Villa - been there done that Is it just his wages that would stop us from biding? We've matched what pompey wanted, and offered him a very good deal but he obviously doesn't want to move from London (or his Wag doesn't) Not convinced he'd come to you either, even if you matched the deal/wages. Sunderland or Blackburn would be a decent move for him, but he's obviously more interested in the London lifestyle than playing football

Hi Mack Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I was thinking the same, If he doesn't want to go to Sunderland, why would he want to come to us! Because weve got Keith Andrews......................................

garyh123 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Because weve got Keith Andrews...................................... We may well be after him next, don't think anyone else interested in playing for us
nicko Posted July 20, 2009 Author Posted July 20, 2009 Crouch wanted 90 grand a week off Sunderland, it was his way of saying 'that's what it would take to move me and the missus up here.' Avoid him like the plague. I still understand that Zigic is the current number one target...for all of the '15 clubs want him' trash nobody else seems to be bidding, If the fee becomes sensible that might happen. Jones looks difficult as Sunderland can't bring in anyone in. There are other options, but all are too dear right now.

I still very much doubt Blackburn could afford Jones and although managers often say things they don't mean both Bruce and Jones have very publicly voiced their excitement at working with one another.....even if other strikers are signed. I don't know how often you might come accross duff (not damien) info but i think this might be one occassion.
67splitscreen Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 There are other options, but all are too dear right now. Curious, any idea what Cardozo is.
hi-jaq Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Curious, any idea what Cardozo is. Sure I read somewhere that he was between £12m & £15m... I could be totally wrong, but im sure thats what I read!!! Worth every penny in my book... he's straight out of the top drawer IMO!!!
Hughesy Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Id rather we spent around £8m on a striker and have money left over for a good midfielder, aswell as taking Di Santo on loan - why blast all £13m on 1 player who could flop?

Keane said he wouldnt take 40m for him look what happened to Keane. Remember Friedel looking forward to working with Ince? And vice versa!
Hughesy Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Cant see why Crouch would move up North - Can hardly see Abby Clancy on a night out in Sunderland
BRFC1995 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 ........................robbo.................. jacobson..samba......nelsen...givet diouf..emerton....warnock..pedersen ........roberts...mccarthy............... most importantly a very good manager. even if we don't sign a striker its a bit dramatic to say we'd struggle, more don't sign a striker settle for mid table, more dross teams than ever with woeful managers in the premier league, we ain't struggling.......all the b's bar blackburn for relegation next season for me.
Torgeir Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 We can't put a cheeky £4 million bid for Di Santo? Re-sale value etc...then he can buy Kevin Davies for £6 million.

I agree, all I was saying is that he's worth that kind of money, but it's because he's worth that why we wont get him, unless Benfica drop their price of course. I reckon we might just end up with Nikola Zigic... I wouldn't be too upset with that either. The only way I'd be upset with that is if some other club of a similar stature to ours gets Chamakh for the same price we get Zigic for, as I think he will develop into a top striker (sorry to state the obvious) and he could quite possibly generate a good return in resale value!!! (Unless we sign Zigic & he scores 20+ goals for 2 seasons on the run, then he might just sell at a good price!!!)
Ste B Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 And who are you Mr to know whether ive been passed on information or not. A bid is going to be made for a player this week thats all i can say, if i revealed name then others who read this board from other clubs could be some high profile person from that club you never really know may also fancy their chances with that particular player then things may begin to go pear shaped I do know youre full of bull.. And you have 2 other accounts.. This ones now closed.
Nelson! Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Jones is very overrated.....He had a decent few months! Keane said he wouldnt take 40m for him look what happened to Keane. Remember Friedel looking forward to working with Ince? And vice versa! I watch Jones every week and I don't think he's at all over-rated......but i'm happy for everyone else to keep saying he's no good, and we'll keep him. The difference between this situation and with Friedel is that we don't need the money, Jones doesn't want to leave and he's not at the end of his career. Still can't see it happening.
Nelson! Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Why do Sunderland want to get rid of Jones anyway? we don't, as far as I'm aware.
