Hi Mack Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I watch Jones every week and I don't think he's at all over-rated......but i'm happy for everyone else to keep saying he's no good, and we'll keep him. The difference between this situation and with Friedel is that we don't need the money, Jones doesn't want to leave and he's not at the end of his career. Still can't see it happening. We DIDNT need 1.5M for Friedel! The thing im getting at is Jones isnt going to come out saying he aint looking forward to playing for Bruce Hes saying what people expect to hear. Hopefully he aint our main target.

Jones is a sulker!! Very well known in the game!1 When he's good, he's good, When he is bad he is bloody awful!! No heart and no commitment!
Hughesy Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Times is saying that Lyon are now going to make a bid for Chamakh
67splitscreen Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Is saviola an alias of benmaxwell? Nail on the head me thinks. Very similar approach.
47er Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Crouch wanted 90 grand a week off Sunderland, it was his way of saying 'that's what it would take to move me and the missus up here.' Avoid him like the plague. I still understand that Zigic is the current number one target...for all of the '15 clubs want him' trash nobody else seems to be bidding, If the fee becomes sensible that might happen. Jones looks difficult as Sunderland can't bring in anyone in. There are other options, but all are too dear right now. Crouch is being linked with Spurs-------as are loads of others of course! But he's not going to turn that move down I'd imagine, if true.
Miker Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 If we have money to spend on a midfielder I would hope Sam targets Christian Poulsen who currently plays in Juventus. Reports say Fulham are prepared to bid for him for just 6mil. I've been an admirer of his for a while and would love to see him at Ewood... he would be real quality. Although, I don't see much chance of that happening given our top priority is still a striker and European football would probably seem more attractive to Poulsen...

Miker Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 we dont need players like poulsen we need hard workers to pick up the second ball I thought you only played with a single ball in football...
saxo1man30 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Rovers need to get lucky with their top target...a lot is riding on this. It's the difference between struggle and safety. That simple. i just don`t agree with your outlook i`m afraid nicko, even if we sign no other striker, we will not struggle. sam will have us hard to beat(and yes likely unnattractive to watch) in that scenario and we`ll be comfortably safe in midtable imo.

jamiebrfc Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 if we get zigic and smith we can push on for europe though that would be brilliant just hope they sign No bugger else wants Smith!!!
steverovers Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 if we get zigic and smith we can push on for europe though that would be brilliant just hope they sign Smith would be the worst signing we could ever make. He's finished at the top level. Not even good enough for our retarded friends down the road!

Guest FelchMaster Khan Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 That was years ago - he WAS good then - but no good now so he just went bad over night? yeah right boss he's only 28 better than kevin davis
jamiebrfc Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 That was years ago - he WAS good then - but no good now I agree, the lad is a walking yellow card, sick-note and jack of all trades master of none. Even Ince wouldn't have made such a signing.
steverovers Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 so he just went bad over night? yeah right boss he's only 28 better than kevin davis Not overnight, no. It's been a few years now. And I never mentioned Kevin Davis, who I woulddn't want either I agree, the lad is a walking yellow card, sick-note and jack of all trades master of none. Even Ince wouldn't have made such a signing. Spot on! We can do without more sick notes in midfield - or anywhere else in the team for that matter

philipl Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I always wonder whether we have the player's agent posting on here when something like this happens. 1) There is a player who needs to move from where he is 2) There is zero interest in him from other clubs 3) A new poster appears with a single objective of saying how great said player is.
steverovers Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 ok you have your opinion(s) i have mine but i know whos right Yeah Me!

philipl Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Alan Smith left Leeds in 2004. His career record is: senior pro 12 seasons, appearances 272, goals 45.... a player who was a forward until five years ago. the last five seasons (Man U and Newcastle), appearances 100, goals 7 the last two seasons (Newcastle), appearances 39, goals 0 Oh, and if Wikipedia is correct, Smith is truly outstanding in one regard: In total Smith has been sent off 7 times in the Premier League and has committed 423 fouls in the competition since 2002-03, therefore being the second most prolific fouler in the league behind Kevin Davies (since records of such offences began). The amazing thing is, that Kevin Davies has made nearly TWICE as many appearances since 2002/3 as Alan Smith has which on a fouls per game ratio places Smith uniquely on his own as the dirtiest player in the English game by a very considerable distance.
