steverovers Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Alan Smith left Leeds in 2004. His career record is: senior pro 12 seasons, appearances 272, goals 45.... a player who was a forward until five years ago. the last five seasons (Man U and Newcastle), appearances 100, goals 7 the last two seasons (Newcastle), appearances 39, goals 0 Oh, and if Wikipedia is correct, Smith is truly outstanding in one regard: In total Smith has been sent off 7 times in the Premier League and has committed 423 fouls in the competition since 2002-03, therefore being the second most prolific fouler in the league behind Kevin Davies (since records of such offences began). The amazing thing is, that Kevin Davies has made nearly TWICE as many appearances since 2002/3 as Alan Smith has which on a fouls per game ratio places Smith uniquely on his own as the dirtiest player in the English game by a very considerable distance. I rest my case

The1mattjansen Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I'll never understand why two people feel the need to sit and bicker on an internet messageboard, trying to force opinions on another username who could, literally, be anyone. What have you got to gain?
Miker Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I'll never understand why two people feel the need to sit and bicker on an internet messageboard, trying to force opinions on another username who could, literally, be anyone. What have you got to gain? That's the point of an online forum isn't it? Two or more people bickering about something, usually pretty irrelevant. Just because it's on the Internet doesn't mean it's any different from a real forum. What kind of posts do you expect to find?
awhom111 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 yeah im his agent i fought id come on this website, say how great said player is an voilla new striker alan smith comes to ewood is that how agents work boss. my cousin said we he'd take him back to leeds tomorrow he's that good thats all. so he must have something.IMO let that be it ive had enough talking about smith now. dingles staying down 4ever Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Speaking of Pompey. Thomas on a free. Worth a go or not, assuming he has the all clear to resume his career. I'm FREEeeeeee He had one good season at Charlton as I can recall
philipl Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Seems very academic now but it is not the first time I have heard that Jones is not the player you need to have on your side when it is getting rough out there. There have to be several good reasons why Sunderland might have been contemplating getting rid of him. Anyway, very few clubs are signing anybody at the moment irrespective of whether clubs have a reasonable spending budget or not.
LeftWinger Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 my cousin supports leeds... and my cousin knows his football.
alexanders Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Interview with Zigic: Nikola Zigic (29), last season on loan at Valencia, said he does not want to stay another year at Racing Santander, which owns the team's card. The purpose of Zigic, in fact, is to play in next season for a great club. "I do not want to go back to Racing Santander. I want to play in a big team. The Racing is great, but what I always dream to play in the Champions League," said Zigic on Canale9. He might not be interested in playing for us? No Racing Santander Reports about Negredo: Alejandro Camano, representing Negredo, yesterday visited the offices of the Santiago Bernabéu to treat the sale of the player. On the front said they handle Vallecano offers several teams from the Premier. Madrid has received proposals from 20 million euros from England. Camaño made it clear that no deal and are still considering what is best for the player. Tottenham appear among stakeholders. Negredo is also quoted in Spain. Villarreal want him on their front and Seville thinks of him as a substitute for Luis Fabiano in the march to Milan. Emery, technical Valencia said: "It's a great football player, is able to play in Valencia." Offer from Premier League
bob fleming Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Curious, any idea what Cardozo is. A type of pizza?

ITS JUST MY OPINION ok What is this 'fought' crap? Seriously, isn't this the second time you've done that? Your cousin hasn't been watching the Premiership for many years now I expect. That would be why he isn't aware that Smith has become less than useless.
Roost Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Why do Sunderland want to get rid of Jones anyway? Because he is crap?
Baron Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 My good God. The school holidays really do bring out some adolescent dross! A campaign for Alan Smith because a "cousin" wants him to play for Leeds in League 1; he must still be a top Premisership player then! FMK may be an agent one day but he'l have to spend a few more years at school first and I "fink" work on his genius spelling. Back on topic, there's so much speculation around, how much of it is really accurate? The idea of splashing out 12-15M on one player who has no premiership experience is worrying and Big Sam wont go for that. Expect the Zigic or Jones route for 6-8M or someone in that bracket. In the meantime, good things come to those who wait, and with Nicko on the pulse we will know whats happening without the "will there be an 11 o'clocker" question 10 times a day! Rant over, bring on 15/8/09!
gumboots Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Right I'm off to France for a few weeks. Hopefully by the time I'm back the striker problem will be solved, we'll have beaten City and got our first away win. In the meantime I'll be cheering on Lorient to hopefully their first home win of the season, seeing my grandson for the first time since New Year and doing my best to get fit for the new school year. Bye all. Have a good summer.

Hughesy Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 He should probably be in prison with a name like Felch..... (Check what it means)
Pugg Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 He should probably be in prison with a name like Felch..... (Check what it means) Urgh.
my_name_is_Earl Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 If Zigic is indeed our number one target, I have no idea why the club haven't put in a derisory offer to lower the eventual fee. I mean if Sam was thinking wow! I want this fella but not for the current fee, he'd surely put a small bid in and eventually haggle to a certain 'decent' price? It just seems as though Sam doesn't want Zigic enough to even try to sneak or haggle on a deal. I'm not sure he is the number one target at all. I think Sam may be waiting on bigger fish once the merry-go-round properly starts.
rovgers Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 He should probably be in prison with a name like Felch..... (Check what it means) urgh, you learn something new everyday! He's the master of it, as well!
67splitscreen Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 A type of pizza? Lawyer, Guitarist, sorry no pizza, do you have the recipe, oh and a footballer, of some worth. which one though, Oscar, Neri or Jose.
Blue n White Rover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Does anyone know how many agents Zigic has? If he has more than one, then sometimes it becomes a bit tedious for the club trying to buy him, as they are going through various different people. Different prices will be quoted around from different agents and may force the club to look elsewhere. He should probably be in prison with a name like Felch..... (Check what it means) Warning to everyone: Don't check the meaning if you're having your breakfast or any sort of food!!
