deazel Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Hey Nicko, I know this is off topic, but I am just wondering why football365.com's mediawatch section seems to have a vendetta against you? They often appear to take cheap shots at you which seem to me to be unjustified, as your stories often prove to be right on the money. Is there some bad blood there? They never seem to get personal with other journos.

Nelson! Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Sunderland will probably go back for Bent, but now Levy has them over a barrel...and the player will know what Crouch was getting. Ouch. I seriously doubt it, he was up for talks a while back then Harry decided to ###### about and told him he can't leave until Palyuchenko does. By all accounts he would rather stay at Spurs than move on anyway, depsite the lack of football......another southerner who'd rather sit on a bench in London than get on the pitch "up north". I'd say we'll have given up th ghost there too and not before time. We want another two strikers AS WELL AS Jones and Campbell according to Bruce......and we'll be attempting to get those targets now. I don't envisage any movement out of safc on the striker front given that we're struggling to get one in. Did you break the Cana news nicko? and is it realistic?
waggy Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 whats the big thing about french strikers,or the french league players,is it because mckay represents half of them
nicko Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 Did you break the Cana news nicko? and is it realistic? Brucie has spoken to him and his agent. It's got a chance if he is willing to come...it seems strange that he is even being sold and hasn't found a home yet...good player.
robborover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 The completion of Pompey's takeover can't exactly help us either can it, regardless of what happens with Crouch I would expect them to be after a striker. Sulaiman Al Fahim has his new toy

It's got a chance if he is willing to come...it seems strange that he is even being sold and hasn't found a home yet...good player. To be honest I'll be stunned/delighted if we get him. I saw the report this morning and almost dismissed it out of hand. I too am amazed that Marseille want rid and that no one else has snapped him up.......is there some issue with the lad? If you'd asked me to make a list of players I wanted this summer (discounting the completely unrealistic such as Torres/Ronaldo/Kaka obviously) this guy would have been pretty near the top. Hopefully we can wrap this up quick (if he'll come) before other clubs get interested......i doubt any agent in modern football would allow that to happen though. Cheers for the info.
nicko Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 The completion of Pompey's takeover can't exactly help us either can it, regardless of what happens with Crouch I would expect them to be after a striker. The takeover won't bring riches. Think Pompey are one club who will finish below you and your neighbours next season. Chasing Steve Finnan to replace Glen Johnson. Need I say more.

I rate Steve Finnan highly and would have had him at rightback for us (to be honest I talk of when I watched him play for Liverpool - havent seen him play since)
Oklahoma Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Nicko, it seems that Livorno is interested in Landon Donovan. Any truth in this and are any other clubs interested in him?
nicko Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 Nicko, it seems that Livorno is interested in Landon Donovan. Any truth in this and are any other clubs interested in him? Have to pass on that one...my Livorno contacts are not what they used to be...
Fife Rover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I have a really horrible feeling it will be Smith. Are you trying to make us all think we have Swine Flu? When in reallity the true cause of the nauseus feeling is people keeping hinting at us signing either Barton or Smith (or worse still...both!!!)
roversmad95 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 No bugger else wants Smith!!! great! im ok with barton as i think football wise he as somthing to offer but smith..... no thanks.... ok you have your opinion(s) i have mine but i know whos right so do the rest of us mate.... and it isnt YOU!
Steve Moss Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Both Landon Donovan and Michael Brady of the U.S. National Team would be great signings, IMO.
Fife Rover Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 This is my favourite bit: '"Christian Vieri's dream of joining Blackburn Rovers is over" All those years of playing for Milan, Inter, Lazio and Juve when all the time he just wanted to play for Rovers Oh dear! What a shame he never thought to tell us that 10 years ago.
Jackson Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 mmmm... I see a pattern emerging here... Summer, 2008: JW: I think we should get Big Sam in. BRFCS: Bugger off, no thanks. JW: OK - here's Paul Ince... Winter, 2008: BRFCS: Bloody hell. Please get Big Sam in. Summer, 2009: BFS: I think we should get Kevin Davies in. BRFCS: Bugger off, no thanks. BFS: OK - here's Alan Smith...........
nicko Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 Whats the crack with Notts County nicko? Very strange but it seems to be true...Sven is going to turn up in some managerial capacity. No idea why, but I take it the Arab owners have connections with him through one of his agents.
imy9 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I am getting confused, having read through half a dozen pages there seems to be more questions about Portsmouth/Spurs/ Sunderland than Rovers, is this still the Blackburn Rovers transfer topic thread? It is getting difficult to get to Rovers stuff with the other clutter, could this not be moved to "other PL news?"

At best it's gonna be 2 days before the start of the premiership season so that we have to wait 5 months for the new player(s) to settle in.
TheNews Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Was chatting to a couple of mates at work today and the fact the Crouchy had turned down Sunderland for London and probably spuds when one of the guys mentioned Marc Janko. Must admit never heard of him before today but he is the Austrian Crouch 6'6" and scored bundles of goals in Austria Can't believe he would cost the sort of money being talk about for the likes of Bent etc Anyone any info on him? Or have I just missed him on one of the many many pages here

At best it's gonna be 2 days before the start of the premiership season so that we have to wait 5 months for the new player(s) to settle in. Not really the case. Our two best striker signings - RSC (signed 28th July 2007), McCarthy (28th July 2006) - were both signed late on. Wonder whether a week today is the luck day?

We would have bought him in Jan but his fee was too large. Sam seems to have gone off him since.
TheNews Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 My bad Not always around so I'm either all or nothing Seems to be all at the moment, misses get annoyed
