Janko, now watched him three times, latest match tonight against Bohemians, from what he has showed in the last few weeks he is not the striker we need. he falls over more than Heskey, he is slow on the turn, and none or little pace to get away from his marker.

God knows where all the goals came from last season, but it's not going to be replicated in the EPL.

Other managers must have resized this and why no one has made a move for him.

I wonder if Sam has given our scouts a rocket re the targets he has had to look at??

Hence the Whitbread departure!!

I do know Sam said all the targets that had been listed were the ones under Inces tenure!

So Sams real targets werent there to look at.

Maybe that will change now!!

Something missing there......any quotes!

He's good but nobody else is coming in for him so he had better buck his ideas up and pack his bags for warm lancashire!

That's a bit unfair.

Remember Sam went in for Janko in January - he was the first player he asked about when Roque was close to going. And that was an Ince target from the previous summer.

Narrow escape by the sound of it.

And the first Rovers target this summer was Kevin Davies, who Sam didn't need anyone to tell him about.

Zigic has been on the radar for months, Jones may come on the radar depending on other factors.

Nobody is signing strikers just now because they are in short supply.

Mind you that chap Fletcher looks quite good down the road. ;)

I don't understand why people think Rovers have had 6 months to find a replacement for RSC. First of all the club had no idea what league they were going to be in next season. Second until a decent bid came in for RSC the club could do nothing. Thirdly nobody could have expected the transfer fees for stikers being what they are now. Also there was a time when RSC indicated he was happy to stay at Rovers.

People on here are getting in a flap over nothing. There is still a long way to go in the transfer window. Anyway we all know the player Sam wants if he could, Davies.

In fairness at the 'Audience with the manager' in the spring SA did intimate that RSC would prob be leaving in the summer. So he will have been looking for likely replacements since then.

We all know Sam's focus is only the striker search but out of interest what do you think of our central midfield options?

Cheers dude

Or he will have had his scouts looking!!!

Maybe they have not come up with the goods, I dont know, maybe the wrong areas!!

I dont think we would be able to attract or afford a top striker from Spain or Italy, so France, Croatia, Slovania etc could be the options!!

The USA could be somewhere to look now, they are quickly becoming a force in International football!!

why haven't we given a trial to m'bami prior to p'mouth?? would have been worth a look wouldn't he?

an what about jorge andrade, know he is a defender, but he is still a good one

Jorge Andrade is on trial in a spanish club, Malaga I think.

There are serious doubts considering his fitness.

If he recovers to what he used to be, Malaga will be a stronger team.

I can't remember the last time we did any last-minute business. Transfer windows are becoming increasingly depressing for our fans. Our club is in a very dangerous "holding pattern" at the moment, and unless that changes there's only one way to go - and it isn't up.

As far as I know he never has.

Would you mind posting the link to that story if you find it?

Well somebody has posted the link. Of course it could just be the press being mischievous or it could be the good old "translation" and "context" issue we're so fond of after Roque. And the poster that seemed to think those comments, if true, were only because we were struggling - get real. Sounds like a rubber dinghy man to me...

Anyway, I don't disagree with you about last minute business. I'd much rather all our players were signed and on the pre-season tour now.

Needs improving. Badly.

If I had said Keith Andrews was worth a four-year contract this time last summer I would have been shot...how times change.

Too many of your midfielders have question marks over them. You could do with two new ones. If Andrews stays and you are not selling him that puzzles the life out of me.

Nowhere near good enough for us. OC is in a fortunate position to be able to take a few risks.

Fletcher isn't your manager's type.

I think he will fit rather well into Burnley's style.

Get a feeling that particular cultural debate may go on a bit this season.

bit of a reality check required..........world class striker coming to the end of his already hefty contract.............what on earth are the chances that he'd fit into our wage structure, slim to none i'd guess. Bayerns, milans, juventuses of the world more likely.

And whilst I think your best mate would be a great signing, why do you keep banging on about him when he's stated he wouldn't come to Blackburn publicly?

Spencey wake up will you, he is a top, top striker who is not interested in Blackburn and would want MEGA money. Stop dreaming and be realistic.

He will do if he looks normal (edit - there he is now! bananas / feet etc)

Come on then nicko - how nailed on is Di Santo? It must be a done deal surely? I can accept us taking him and going with Benni, Woberts and Gally going into the season. Although of course many of us can't. Angst, pain etc

I'll say it again, this transfer window lark is crap. What purpose does it actually serve apart from inflating prices and creating panic on BRFCS?

If we can get a better deal for a striker come the last week of August then so be it. No point eating into that £21m we've made from transfers and the money we've saved on wages when it could go to better use elsewhere. Wherever that is is anyone's guess. Still that's the good thing about Rovers... at least were not owned by a faceless consortium who don't put any money in and show no interest in the club. :o !!

If Owen Coyle's Burnley do reasonably well this season, I will be amazed, he will defy all logic in so much that he really has not bought any real premiership experience and is now looking at a Norwich Midfielder!!

Good luck to him if it comes off, he is a good manager, as for Fletcher, he may do OK but I shudder when I thinkthat Kris Boyd was the top scorer in Scottish football last year :o

Shortly after Sam became our manager Roque did an interview on Five Live saying he wanted to move on to a bigger club. The moment that interview was made it was obvious that it was a matter of when not if Santa Cruz was going. With our limited resources we should have started the process then of finding a replacement striker for Santa Cruz, giving us plenty of options when the time came.

Even when they didn't know what league they would be playing in? - That was the major problem !!!!!!!
