I am starting to worry that maybe we might have another Bentley Replacement Scenario as of last summer!!!!

That is exactly what will happen, thought that all along.

Any money we make on transfers is taken away from us, despite what the club say.

CROUCH...turned down Sunderland again because he is waiting for Tottenham...can't see Liverpool wanting him...can't see Arsenal doing it either.

SPURS...will only get the cash for Crouch if they sell Bent.

So we are like a dog chasing its tail. Or rather watching a dog chasing its tail. Because unless two strikers go to Sunderland there is no chance of Jones becoming available.

What are the latests on Huntelaar and Negredo? Still on the Spurs radar?

I didn't enjoy reading that interview with zigic. and I don't mean because of the bad translation... seems like the lad is planning to stay.

hopefully they give him the boot and he changes his mind.

valencia did crap last year didn't they? I mean, even if he stays he won't have any european cups on the fixture list? (like us)

I would have to say that he is not exactly breaking down the door to get away.

I wonder if Kevin Davies's name came up now - for the first time - whether there would be the same hysterical reaction against him.

Or people would slowly realise that he ticker more boxes than anyone else.

Hmmmmmmmmm, i`m still not too sure on Davies Nicko, if he came up at 3 million then yes, but not spending anything near 10 million on him - but i see your point, and i doubt there would be the same hysterical reaction.

Has anyone noticed the similarities from last year, we had a reaction aginst Big Sam last Summer, got Ince

Then Sam came and sorted it in December!!

I hope we dont follow the same pattern and have to get Davies in January to get us on track!!

I have a feeling he will be in a Rovers shirt sooner rather than later!1

I totaly agree, but not for 10 million. I would still not be surprised if he came..........must be better than Alan Smith!

For 3 million, no problem. For 10 million, I would think Mr. Williams had lost his mind.

Aren't Carew, Hoffer, etc., better buys in comparison to Davies?

The point is - and was - that Davies had an awful lot going for him at the £5 million mark. Obviously any more would be silly.

However there are so few good players within the price range right now that he was the stand-out candidate.

All of the fanciful alternatives have come and gone.

So now you either have to over-pay on fees and wages for Zigic, wait for the erratic Jones, hope nobody takes Negredo, pray Benfica suddenly drop the Cardozo price...or it's sheer panic time.

Nicko, does this story remind you of anything?

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3732499,00.html

You mean...tap a player...stop him going elsewhere...then try to get the price down...and convince your chairman that it's good business.

Harry would never do that, would he?

:lol::lol::lol:

Are we unlikely to spend 10 millions on e.g. Cardozo? If Zigic wants to stay, Bolton keeps holding out for more money, Negredo signs for Liverpool, Crouch for Fulham etc.... ?

I'm starting to think we'd be better off with McCarthy, Roberts, Di Santo and Gallagher - and a really improved midfield.

I would rather wait till the dying minutes of the transfer window than go for Davies at 10 million!!

4 years ago Bellamy was one of the leagues top scorers, he was replaced by Benni who also banged them in, then Roque came & was prolific!! Last year we struggled because we missed a goal scorer & Kevin Davies is not a goal scorer though affective at what he does! But a goal scorer is what we need!!

It would also annoy me that we have spent 17.5 million on Davies transfers!!

This surprisingly hit Skysports.com just after 'alexanders' put it on here...

11.02 Nikola Zigic has declared that he wants to remain at Valencia after turning down offers from other clubs, with Blackburn and Aston Villa having been linked with the Serbian striker.

Do you think someone is tuning in?
