Hi Mack Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Sunderland v Benfica today at 18., should be two Rovers targets playing?? Wonder if hes in Munich watching Toni?
chaddyrovers Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Maybe its Marc Janko. salzburg are playing tomorrow afternoon against ried. I think he might go to the sunderland game against benfica then to the red bull salzburg game. Then i think Big Sam will make his decision who to go far.
The Rover of Finland Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Nicko, is this tomorrow´s Mr. X a new name or possibly someone mentioned before? I know you won´t tell but no harm to do little fishing..

I've got to say that was my guess too...and maybe going back to watch Benfica again on Sunday...it will be interesting to see the teams at Sunderland v Benfica at 6pm...I'm sure out Portuguese pals will oblige.

nicko Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 Nicko, is this tomorrow´s Mr. X a new name or possibly someone mentioned before? I know you won´t tell but no harm to do little fishing.. I know the manager is watching one - maybe two - of his short-list this weekend...that's all I have so far. We should know who and how they did over the weekend. Could be a surprise one, but I imagine it will be one of the Usual Suspects.
PAFELL Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Maybe we should buy this guy to play up front. New Forward? (The image raises a whole bucketful of questions that I won't even try to answer on here....) I bet he eats more than 2 shredded wheat
Hi Mack Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 To be fair Sam could be at at least 100 grounds tomorrow watching at least 300 players! Looking back weve been linked to every Average/Slightly above average striker this side of the moon! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...R.html?ITO=1490 Quite glad this has popped up again!
nicko Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 CARDOZO...possibly playing for Benfica in the Amsterdam Tournament. ZIGIC...probably playing for Valencia v Borussia Dortmund this weekend...if not that would be interesting too. JANKO...playing in the Austrian pub league. PIQUIONNE...possibly playing for Lyon in the Peace Cup...don't forget him. I don't think Sam would need to see Davies or Jones, so I suspect it is one of the first three.

madddog Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 luca toni would be amazing IMO. but seems unlikely. cardozo ain't too bad either I guess.

LeChuck Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Just randomly browsing some football pages and noticed that Marcelo Moreno moved to Werder Bremen this summer - at 9 million Euros he would have been a perfect solution to our target man problem. I bet he scores loads in the Bundesliga next year.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 The latest on Hugo Almeida: Scored for Werder last night in a 'test' match for the Volksbank Stadium. Should be in the squad to play Alemannia Aachen at the weekend. I'm still convinced he's on Big Sam's list....unfortunately no one else is Edit: According to a report in Bild, Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen are keen to cash in Portuguese forward Hugo Almeida this summer. The 25-year-old is reportedly no longer needed at the Hanseaten. From football.co.uk Portugal international Hugo Almeida insists he has no plans to leave Werder Bremen. The 25-year-old, who has spent the last three seasons with Werder, had been expected to leave the Bundesliga side following the arrival of Bolivian striker Marcelo Moreno. However, Almeida told Globoesporte: "I will only leave if it is a good offer for me and Werder Bremen. "If it is to go to a club that only think of avoiding relegation, then I do not want to move. It would be a step back in my career. That counts us out then!

Dunnfc Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 A forgotten name and man but Hoffenheims vedad ibsevic? 6ft 2. was the leading bundesliga goalscorer until he ruptured his knee ligaments before christmas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vedad_Ibi%C5%A1evi%C4%87
bubblerrovers Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 things finally appear to be happening Hows that? If Big Sam not there on Sat who's guna run the team, no first team coach, i guess the pysio is in charge
Presty On Tour Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Hows that? If Big Sam not there on Sat who's guna run the team, no first team coach, i guess the pysio is in charge I thought he was off to Man Citeh too? Looks like the tea lady or the cleaner will be in charge.
LeChuck Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Is he not on Loan? You're totally right, he is, I misread the article. That would have been an even better deal in that case. Also, the post after mine about Almeida made my post not seem totally irrelevant to everything. Almeida would be brilliant and seems to tick every box for what we need, I wonder if he's on the list? This article suggests he is almost certainly for sale. Go on Sam!

I believe the player Sam is after is CARDOZO. I remember asking somebody on here ages ago who was Sant Cruz international strike partner. Was not Hughes interested in Cardozo when at Rovers? - Probable RSC suggested it to him - I think Cardozo is better goal scorer than RSC.
