Great striker! Remember him from Champions League against Liverpool last year. But like Defour and Witzel bigger clubs must be after him?

I remember watching him play against Liverpool and thinking that he was a quality striker. Would be a top signing if we were interested in him but haven't heard any mention of him even with other clubs so not sure if there would be any chance. Good record and would do well for us I feel. Fellaini made an impact from the same club and Defour is highly rated so there is not a lot of reason to doubt this guy.

No thanks on Ching! Dear god, he doesn't have anything close to the pace, atheticism, touch or stamina to deal with the EPL.

Cooper, I like. He was once a part of ManU's youth setup, did a loan spell at oldham. When I saw the US match in Philly, I truied to get his attention when he was kicking it about at halftime telling him to call Sam, but he never heard me! :) He's a big lad, still young, has some decent touch. She should start taking over for Ching here shortly, in fact if Ching hadn't been injured and therefore not at the confed cup, Cooper would have seen a lot more time in these Gold Cup games, which would have been nice.

Rosenborg (Norway) tried signing Cooper last season. I believe he scored at least once against Norway in a US vs Norway game a couple of years ago too... I've noticed he's been banging them in in the MLS buuuuut the level there isn't too great. Ching I have never seen. Anyway, we're after a number ONE striker, not someone unproven. Second, third or fourth fiddle those guys maybe could do a job, but we need someone to replace RSC - and that's not easy.

If you think about it, the only signing that Rovers have made this year that the fans knew about before hand was N'Zonzi, we never knew anything about Van Heerden & Jacobsen... I wouldnt be surprised if we have sounded Standard out about this guy, as we have been around northern Europe looking at players all year & Rovers already have links with a Belgian club.

Gotta say he looks good on the video & also from what I remember in the CL last year he did well, as did the majority of the Standard side, Witzel, Defour & I remember thinking that the 2 full backs were top quality also. He seems to tick the right boxes physically & also seems fairly tidy infront of goal... We need to get Big Chris Samba to give him a call & tap him up, if standard are willing to part with him at a good price that is!!! :D

Standard have some cracking players, Defour and Witsel the most well known names. I'd be happy to see us go for Mbokani, young, 6 foot 1 with some power and pace and a decent scoring record.

I really think we need to get Dunn's contract sorted though. When he's not injured he is (or will be, now that Tugay's gone) our most influential midfielder.

Give over, he's slow, always injured, doesn't score enough and if he weren't a blackburn lad, we'd have never re-signed him....championship standard really...his body can't live with the Premier Lleague....Our most influential midfielder will be emerton when he's fit again.

He can be a match winner, he is the only player last season who would run at defences and cause havoc!

Still worth a year extension.............it would cost Millions to replace him!

Dont know why, but earlier on today, I was talking to a freind, who seems to think we might have a crack at Claudio Pizzaro I agreed with him but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it wouldnt happen... As soon as Mbokani was mentioned, I thought, hang on & now I have a hunch that this chap might be a target... I hope he is, as ever since we signed Jason Roberts I have been thinking, if we could just sign a player the same as him, but can actually finish & this guy looks like that player.

Am I wrong or does it seem like things are starting to move along... I hope so!!! :D

This is exactly the type of player that gets my juices flowing!

any idea on a price tag? Could we get him and Defour for 13m????

Cancel that just read that Everton offered 12m for defour and got laughed at.

Sentiments echoed, Mack. I don't care where Dunn is from, I just know he makes things happen.

I think the problem is we all like to remember what he has done in the past and what he WAS capable of, but when was the last time he ever took a game by the scruff of the neck and bossed a game in midfield? I can't think of any that spring to mind.

In fact I can't remember the last time he even looked effective running at defences in a game. Maybe a keep as a squad player, but even when fully fit nowadays I still don't think he's anywhere near good enough to be first choice.

sorry to rain on unleaded's parade. There is only one problem with signing this guy if anyone thought getting zurab on the back of their shirt was bad this guy would be nigh on impossible to get on the back of a shirt, other than that he looks an extremely good striker knows where the goal is!

Remember when we were crap v Spurs and Dunn and others came on and we ran all over them for the last 20 mins? And won?

God this board reminds me why football fans in general and blackburn fans in particular are yankers. The whole game can go to ducking hell for all i care. Thank god my rugby playing season is about to start.

Our kit team must be dreading the prospect after mistakes in the past.

He does have skills but at the end of the day it's a youtube video. Anybody have any idea how much he will cost?

Cercle Bruge I think? Eddie, do you know if they have any players of interest to us (though I guess we might have already shown interest if so)?

Cercle Bruge? I don't watch that much Belgian football to be honest, but I keep a bit of an eye out for them because of our connection and Honour Gombami is the only player who's really caught my eye, but even then he doesn't look like anything particularly special.

Mbokani looks the real deal from what I've seen. Maybe his last name is an indication that he can be our saviour?

Nicko, has there been any developments in the new contracts for Dunn, Reid and Pedersen because all three of their contracts end in the summer of 2010?

There was a news snippet recently from the club which said they are talking new contracts with all three. Brought a bit of ire from some supporters.

Daily Mail - The Insider

OSCAR CARDOZO

Benfica to Blackburn - The Insider says: 2/5

Pretty in pink: Rovers target Oscar Cardozo

Paraguay international striker who is just over 6ft 4ins tall and 26 yars of age. Sound familiar?

Cardozo is Roque Santa Cruz's strike partner with the national side and could be following in his footsteps to Blackburn.

Rovers have spread their net far and wide as they look to bring in a main man up front and Cardozo is one of those on the radar.

Other Premier League clubs are also interested with several after a tall target man and Cardozo has a better strike rate than Santa Cruz.
