RibbleValleyRover Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Well Yorkshire radio says that BFS is not at the game today because he is on a scouting mission in Russia?? Zenit are playing today, hope it's Pogrebenyak he's looking at!! Hmm, they said he's in Russia? Must be Poggy then he is looking at.

PAFELL Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Hmm, they said he's in Russia? Must be Poggy then he is looking at. Rovers are after poggy.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Rovers are after poggy. Interesting if true. I'd be shocked if he comes here, but myself, Spencey and a few others wanted us to at least make an effort to go for him or make an enquiry.
Eddie Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Thoughts immediately went to Vagner Love, but CSKA don't play until tomorrow.
Presty On Tour Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 IMO the manager doesn't go on a jolly to Russia just to watch a match especially when we are in action today too. Potentially something very big has chance of happening.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Nicko mentioned he'd be watching a game on Sunday (and possibly also yesterday) too. So it looks like Poggy is one of them, and there are at least one, two or possibly more targets.

Potentially something very big has chance of happening. I agree, surely he would just send a scout if he was just taking a basic look at a player? Sam going himself means he wants a good look at a player with the view to an offer.
PAFELL Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I know for a fact what game it is now...and the target...and why the manager has been away... Won't be around until much later. So no PMs or requests. But it's worth the wait. Russia and looking at Pogrebenyak
Backroom Tom Posted July 25, 2009 Backroom Posted July 25, 2009 Pognewhatshecalled looks like a good un would be happy with him, Love is out of our league sadly
spencey7 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Well well well. About time too. Make this happen Rovers. If any prospective Pogrebnyak deal goes through I feel I should be entitled to a cut of the fee...
Amo Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Let's hope he doesn't laugh at the thought of joining Blackburn now.
brian_gallagher85 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Who has been messing around with his Wiki
The Rover of Finland Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 What if it was Jan Koller? He is definetaly tall and did play today. Hope not..
Silencio Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 PP would be a fantastic signing, even if he only stays for a year or two. Will be really pleased if we get him. We will still need to overhaul our midfield to make good use of him though...
pksrover Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 1st PFK Samara Kryliya Sovetov 0 - 0 Saturn Moscow 14:15 UK Lokomotiv Moscow v Dinamo Moscow 15:45 UK Zenit St Petersburg v FK Rubin Kazan 18:00 UK FK Rostov-Na-Donu v FK Tom' Tomsk Today's games according to ESPN: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/fixtures?leag...s.1&cc=5739 Looking at the Lokomotiv and Dinamo squads there are no stand out, well known names... Alexandr Kerzhakov at Dinamo Moscow? Played for Seville a year or two back.
John Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Vital football citing The Express, Alan Smith: The Express focussed on the Blackburn angle, saying we had agreed a two way split on the wages with the Lancashire club for a season long loan, prior to takeover complications emerging.
Doaksie Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 With Poggy's contract running out in November - hopefuly we shouldn't have to dip too far into our £13m kitty (if he is indeed the target). Should hopefully leave some £££s for a new creative midfielder.
Gally Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Kerzhakov would be a top, top signing. Every time I've seen him (only about 4 or 5 times, admittedly) he's looked a very good player. Don't think he's that tall though.
andyroversmad Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 We need to buy at least one decent Central midfielder badly.
bluebruce Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Not brilliant but I spent long enough fiddling with it I didn't want to waste it. Don't ask why Zigic is headbutting Piquionne. Presumably because Piquionne is not content to merely grab his own crotch, and is attempting to grab Zigic's.
DeadlyDirk Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Well if Pogrebenyak was the man that Sam went to watch today after Yorkshire radio revealed he was in Russia then he did okay without overly impressing. I watched the game on bet365, he had a goal ruled out in the first few minutes after being caught offside, easy finish. He chased the ball down a lot and constantly worked hard without really having much success in the first half, when Zenit had the ball he played very high up the park as a loan striker. In the second half Zenit had a bit more of the ball and he showed some good link up play and a willingess to run at defenders again though without Zenit creating any kind of clear cut chances. Around the hour mark Rubin had a player sent off and shut up shop playing on the counter attack (Nearly scoring with a good chance.) Pogrebenyak was again starved of any real service so it was hard to see much of his shooting or aerial ability in the box. Had one decent chance in injury time from about 18 yards out which he skied over the bar, his only shot of the match that I saw. The game finished 0-0, if anything 10 men Rubin were the better team over 90 minutes, Zenit struggled to create any chances. One interesting figure is they put up a 'Distance Run' statistic on the screen and only one Zenit player had ran more than him in the game. So could just be a wild shot in the dark after Yorkshire radio's comment where some of us put 2 and 2 together but if this was the man Sam watched then that's a quick recap of what he would have seen.
John Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Pogrebenyak was again starved of any real service Ditto if he was to come here!
