HemelRover Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 We were struggling against relegation. If we get POG @ 2m, what about Tuncay as attacking midfielder? Where did the fee of £2m come from? Is it just speculation or something more concrete?

imy9 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Anything under £5 million is a bargain for a striker of Pog's standing. This will hopefully free up funds to sign at least one top class central midfielder, maybe two?
MeanGreenMachine Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I still remeber Pogrebnyak ripping the bayern defence a new arsehole in the waffa cup, he was fantastic that season. Hopefully we get him in on a knock down fee and can pick up a good quality central mindfielder. ps id love tom huddlestone here
alexanders Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Where did the fee of £2m come from? Is it just speculation or something more concrete? I thought Nicko said something about it, but maybe that was related to Mido. Now you got me confused
farhanology Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 to be honest, Poggy's ability is tied inseperably with the quality of service he is provided - Zenit's midfield is really decent. can our midfield actually provide this?
alexanders Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I thought the 2m was about mido. My bad. I still reckon that we have some money left for an attacking mid and that Tuncay would be a great signing for that position. Even though i think we need a box-box midfielder the most.
Ricky Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Looks like someone else is grateful for the information ; -) Pog, as he will now be known, for pronunciation and spelling sake if nothing else, fits the mould of a big target up front that Sam has been after all summer. It is believed that discussions are at an advanced stage with his club, Zenit St. Petersburg and the player. Unlike last time, it seems that the lad has had a change of heart and is now interested in coming. The rumoured fee is a knockdown £2 million as Pog's contract expires in November, the end of the Russian league So, fellow VBers, whats the feeling on a Pavel Pogrebnyak / Franco Di Santo strike partnership next season? Another Bom Exclusive! think this clearly shows someone has lifted the story straight from here as they've put the 2m fee which was spoken about in respect of mido. Someone should learn to read properly lol.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Where did the fee of £2m come from? Is it just speculation or something more concrete? Nicko did mention that up to yesterday, the fee was considered bargain territory but then a new fee was mentioned.
Taggart Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Nickos article in the People http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html Nicko`s article says he is 6" 2 alexanders post of his Stats says he is 6" maybe he is 6" 1 - who knows, as long as he can find the back of the net :-)
The Rover of Finland Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Nicko, based on your current information do you think Poggy will join us? I think Big Sam wouldn´t have travelled Russia if there wasn´t some serious contacts already made.

I think Big Sam wouldn´t have travelled Russia if there wasn´t some serious contacts already made. I think we will all know more on that today...it will come down to the price...if Rovers can 'nick' him for a low fee then it could happen. However I am hearing horror stories about what the Russians want. If that is so then this trip may have been a waste of time.
chaddyrovers Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 what do zenit want? or it is the player's agents?
Iceman Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I'd take Mido at 2M, undoubted talent, and would be a real threat if our backroom staff could get his head screwed on straight. Would still expect another striker, though, and as Eddie just mentioned, we really, really need to address the midfield. Do we even have any backroom staff left? Lol. Any news on new backroom staff Nicko
nicko Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 Do we even have any backroom staff left? Lol. Any news on new backroom staff Nicko Not yet...it looked very bare on the touchline yesterday.
Iceman Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Quite interesting that the team played 4-4-2 again today...this could be the pattern for the season...and it also explains why Di Santo is being brought in. On today's evidence Di Santo will start. So Di Santo and Pog could start? 2 tall strikers, doesnt sound right to me. Would love Tuncay and Pog up front. I can still see Benni leaving, but thats another story

TheNews Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Nicko Arsenal have been linked with numerous strikers in the papers including at least one with have been linked to Any idea who will finish up there?
bob fleming Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Full Name Pavel Pogrebnyak.... .... 2006 - Tom TomSK - 26 Never heard of the fella. Should we really be signing someone who recently took a year out of football to make 26 Russian Sat Navs? Hopefully he'll be able to find his way to goal... etc etc etc etc

Kelbo Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Think someone was having him on...Zat Knight was in Holland with Bolton last night. John Carew, not Zat night, Downing is a fan of Retro Music and they have stopped doing the retro in Middlesborough, he came with John Carew not Zat Knight!! Stupid son, probably too much beer, but the piccy is defo Stewart Downing!!
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 If we can get him for a cheapish fee then he would have a decent resale value if he does well. I have no problem with him seeing us as a stepping stone to a bigger club move in the future, he will have to play well for clubs to be interested so we will benefit from it. Its going to be interested to see what Zenit want for him, 3 months left of his contract (and from what i gather doesn't want to sign a new one as he wants a new challenege) they should be happy with what they get you would think...

By the way, if you have that pic...post it fast!
