BRFC1995 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 i don't think the time remaining on his contract should mean anything.........the guy is clearly in the top striker bracket and we should just pay accordingly anything less will undoubtedly start an auction that will drag on and we'll lose. if we offer peanuts and end up with kevin davies for 5m i'll be sick.....we'd pay 8m at least for poggy if he had longer left on his deal and feel we got a good deal. Can't possibly see how benni has a future, surely rumours regarding him will start firming up soon.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Kelbo's son is on a wind up. While Burnley is generally a good night, it's not "come-down-from-Middlesborough" good. Or up from London, which would it be? While I've seen Coyle and several 6 fingered players around Bumley, I've never once seen anyone from another club.

Pog could sign a pre contract with Rovers and play for us in November on a FREE, saving that money! I would pay no more than £4 million for him.

Retro does actually have a big following, people DO travel from over the country to go. They did used to have nights on at Tall Trees in yarm (near boro), so it is feasible that Downing would travel to Burnley for it.

He could play for us in January when the window opens, he couldn't play in November. I agree though, no more than £4 million under the circumstances.

That doesnt make sense, in November he will be a free transfer and as such I thought he could play for any team and would be free from any restrictions?
nicko Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 That doesnt make sense, in November he will be a free transfer and as such I thought he could play for any team and would be free from any restrictions? No, the window shuts at the end of August [or September 1 or 2] and if you haven't signed by then you can't play until the next one opens on January 1, 2010.
Stuart Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 if we get poggy on the cheap or a bargain deal, and di santo on loan, then great! then surely there have to be some money left for a decent midfielder! robinson jacobsen samba givet warnock diouf/hoilett dunn good-midfielder hoilett/van heerden poggy di santo/fit mccarthy looks like quite a decent team! Nelsen's missing from that team. I've been critical of him myself in the past but don't see him as not starting - and he's currently captain. I'm interested to see how the defence line up and who will miss out from Samba, Nelsen, Givet, Warnock - since it would be assumed Jakobsen is the specialist right-back - which makes me think Warnock might be moved upfield.
jellyfish7006 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 John Carew, not Zat night, Downing is a fan of Retro Music and they have stopped doing the retro in Middlesborough, he came with John Carew not Zat Knight!! Stupid son, probably too much beer, but the piccy is defo Stewart Downing!! Carew played for Villa last night in Malaga.
AggyBlue Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Do we even have any backroom staff left? Lol. Any news on new backroom staff Nicko Notlobs kitman has been offered the same position at Rovers but on much more money.
Backroom trueblue Posted July 26, 2009 Backroom Posted July 26, 2009 Notlobs kitman has been offered the same position at Rovers but on much more money. Ahhh but can he spell ???
Sir Ranulf Westwood Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Pavel Pogrebnyak will cost far too much for Rovers.
AggyBlue Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Ahhh but can he spell ??? Can't be much worse can he
Ricky Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Pavel Pogrebnyak will cost far too much for Rovers. Not sure if he will though, surely it cant be a huuuge fee if he's got 4 months of his contract left.
Shabani Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Hopefully Zenit won't be quite aware how desperate we are for a striker and so this won't inflate the price like it seems to have for our other targets
Sir Ranulf Westwood Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Not sure if he will though, surely it cant be a huuuge fee if he's got 4 months of his contract left. ...and the wages?
Amo Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 How can Zenit play hard-ball when he was four months left on his contract?
Bobby G Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I dont think the Bosman applies in Russia, does it? I think they have tribunals there or am I wrong? That's why Zenit can play hardball. Someone correct me if this is not true.
Ricky Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 SRW, Roque was on a massive wedge from his new contract last year, I'm sure the ages thing would be similar. Also if we're not paying the 15m or so transfer fee we can afford to pay his wages. Even better give him massive bonus's for goals. I thought the Bosman thing still applied in Russia. Cant see any reason why it wouldnt.

Someone correct me if this is not true. Bosman rule applies in all countries. I get the feeling this one is going to turn messy. Check back on the Arshavin to Arsenal move and see what these people are like when it comes to negotiation.

roversmad95 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Pavel Pogrebnyak will cost far too much for Rovers. i hate to say it but you might be right i bet they want 10-15 million..... remembers arsenal tried to get arshavin on the cheap they paid 50% more than they wanted... also could this mess up our chances of getting di santos on loan... i really hope not.... 9.01 According to reports in the News of the World, Arsenal are ready to make a £7million for Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou
