You’re in a night club and there are very few attractive women about. You get talking to a rather attractive Russian woman and she say’s if you’ll buy her a drink she’ll come home with you. You go to the bar and the barman tells you it’ll be £8 for the drink she wants, but if you can stall her for an hour all drinks are free. However, you also know that in about 45 minutes a group of male models will be arriving at the club further limiting your chances with the attractive Russian. What do you do?

a) Get her the drink now and be done with it.

b.) Wait and hour and take your chances

c) Just find a fatty

I just have this horrible feeling Rovers are going to end up taking option C.

i like that well put....

e) Buy her the drink, have a bit of a fumble for 45 mins and then pimp her out to the male models for a profit! (This is the BRFC model ain't it? :P )

Fantastic post.

If you think she looks attractive enough you have to back your judgement and fork out £8. Then when you get her home you have to hope that your judgement hasn't failed you and that she doesn't peel off a wig and falsies revealing her(Him)self as a particularly unattractive transvestite.

I think we'll be going for

F) realising you still haven't pulled with 2 minutes to closing time, panic-buy a £15 cocktail to impress the nearest girl, who turns out to be to be nowhere as pretty as the Russian. Go home pretending to be happy with your work, but all the time wondering what would have been if you'd just stumped up £8 to begin with.

Or if you are the Dingles:

g) Save the money, hoping that she is your sister and you will see her when you get home anyway, but not allowing your failure to detract you from the pleasure of telling everyone that you "could" have had her, and that the better looking bloke from up the road who took her home is nowhere near as good with women as you are, despite your last pull being over 30 years ago.

Wouldn't worry about this one too much, can't see Warnock being any cheaper than Distin

nicko if Ancelotti did decide he fancied Di Santo and didn't want to let us have him do you think he'd consider loaning us say Pizarro or even perhaps Shevchenko as a long shot, surely they are not going to need all their strikers? I'd guess they'd probably want fees for Pizarro and Shevchenko if they let them go and despite their stalling careers I doubt either would be that eager to join.

Any news on where Sam is now, is he still in Russia negotiating or returned home now?

Talk up here is Bent will sign for Sunderland within 24 hours. Wonder if that means Jones might be back on for you to make an offer

Just watching the wembley cup reminded me of all the problems with Bent, he's like Andy Cole but not as good and takes more chances to score. I guess the thing about him is he does seem to have that knack of getting himself into good positions to get the chances, if only he put more than 1 in 6 away.

Good to see this one moving along though, I know we were never really in the race but at least it rules it out now and I didn't want him at the crazy prices and wages quoted. At least this now means that Jones could be available should they want him and means Sunderland are less competition for other strikers than they were, now Spuds to get Crouch and were moving along somewhere.

I hope not!! I'd rather spend £10 million on Davies then £7 million on that reggae reggae reject

Eh?

That's the bit I didn't like. We've had some pretty uncool customers over the years when it comes to the six yard box. I've not sat in the BBE Upper Tier since we signed Kuqi.

d) Convince the skank to have a larger.

From what little I saw of the Zenit game he will fit right in. He skied one from close in and then fell in the box for a ludicrous penalty game and that was just the end of the first half. I bet Sam went through a few packs of gum that game.

Or maybe option H also known as the sparky, just buy the poor lass loads of drinks so she gets in such a state she comes home with you despite the fact that she really would have preferred your mate.

I firmly believe that it will be option "I".

Go home empty armed and call up London for a flashy prostitute, then convince family and friends that it is better to weigh all your options and not be tied down until the summer, where hopefully you can find a nice girl that does not demand lots of cash.

Don't know if it's been mentioned or affects anything but Di Santos apparently played quite well last night and scored a late goal for Chelsea.

He came on at half time scored a goal, missed a few and set up a goal. Santos does appear to be quite the player and caused Club America quite a few problems, their second string keeper was having the game of his life too!

By that logic, no matter who we buy they'll leave in the next window. So are you implying that we buy someone who will do poorly so nobody signs them?

Get him signed.

At least I am using logic rather than the infantile emotional foot stamping "I want that new toy and I want it now" approach as demonstrated by quite a few previous posters.

So while we are talking about logic, perhaps you could explain to us all whereabouts I have made any kind of case that implies any or every player we sign would either want to leave at the January window or would be poached into doing so by other clubs. I merely pointed to the very likely scenario that if Poggy were to join us now for £9m and (as is very likely) prove himself to be a very good and effective striker for Rovers then other bigger clubs are going to be sniffing round him and his agent at the next available opportunity, and unsettling the player. Don't try and tell me that it would not happen, we have seen it all before with Bellamy, McCarthy and Santa Cruz. And even if we hang on and don't allow the player to leave, what good does that do us? We then have a player that does not want to play for us any more and sulks or feigns injury and spouts to the press etc, etc. I would also add that IMO this scenario is far MORE likely with Poggy than with any of the others I mentioned, because as we all know he already considers himself too good for Rovers and would only be using us for an opportunity to show his talents in the PL and then take the very first chance that comes along for a quick escape. That is my opinion and I am perfectly entitled to it.

Oh and just for the record: I am every bit as keen on having him here as any of you. But I can see the sense in being very careful in how we approach this and the need to consider ALL the pros and cons without allowing raw emotion to overcome common sense.

I doubt it.

Bruce said he wants four strikers in his squad, one of which is Jones.

At present we have one definite starter and one back-up (Jones and Campbell)

If we buy Bent then sell Jones, we haven't improved our squad in depth or quality.

I think the Jones link is an old one that's died but not been burried.

We'll start the season with ; Jones, Bent, Campbell and someone else (possibly Chamakh).......i'm almost certain of it.

We won't get Poggy because we all know how these Russians conduct their business. They wont drop their price and we will not pay 9 mill and 60k a week.

Di Santo will not come on loan because Anchovy will like the look of him and decide not to loan him out.

We'll end up with Kenwyne Jones and get relegated.

We're all doomed :angry2:

I'm trying really hard not to type what I'm thinking, but trust me....it isn't pleasant.
