BuckyRover Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I predicted this would happen. Sam is thought to be the messiah after saving our bacon. Adulation which will slowly ebb away when the season starts and we get subjected to terrible football. I also dislike the inference in certain places, that this is all we deserve and we are suited to each other.

captainhaircut Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Nicko, do you know whats going on with Habib Beye at Newcastle? Desperate to leave and in demand if reports are to be believed. Top class according to Toon fans and signed for them by Sam. Would be a much better signing than Chimbonda.
RovertheHill Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I'm not even sure he is back in the country yet... would be good if he was maybe calm a few nervous souls
Omega Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I don't see the logic with Di Santo. Chelsea want him back next season (as been reported) so will be back to square 1 this time next year. Either he's going to be a failure (which means we're stuck with him) or he's going to be a sucess (and chelsea going to take him off us cos we've polished up a rough diamond) it's a lose-lose situation. I'd rather we get someone who's going to be at least here for a couple seasons. (in saying that though I bet if we get a striker who's a success he'll no doubt end up at Villa or Spurs or Man City or some other billionaire club)
LeChuck Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I predicted this would happen. You thought what would happen? Your 'terrible football' stuff is just guesswork as we haven't played any games. Nothing has happened yet, I think you've jumped the gun a little with the complaining.

I also dislike the inference in certain places, that this is all we deserve and we are suited to each other. You can predict what you like, but we are not alone, this is a very difficult window to deal in due to Real and City chucking money at it!! Santas fee looked good on the face of it, but everyone has upped the ante! Kenwynne Jones at £10,000,000 bloody hell, he is simply not worth half that amount, unless £5,000,000 is for the dummies he regularly spits out!! He is a sulker and we dont want sulkers! As for 'Pog' why not try a lower bid, looking at the guy, he is worth £5 to £6,000,000 but we will have to see how it pans out. As for predicting things, I really dont believe anyone could have predicted the inflated fees being thrown around now, its just snowballing out of control, Portsmouth are skint, Everton, skint, Tottenham need to sell to buy, Liverpool havent got much, Villa struggling to buy players, West Ham skint, Burnley are probably being sensible moneywise but taking a huge gamble!! Hull cant sign any quality and so we go on!!
Nelson! Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Nelson, please note that this is a brfc transfer topic. Please can you not post Sunderland transfer info in this thread, please use that other premier league happenings for that. Brfc chat only, otherwise warnings will follow, lets at least try to make this thread slightly manageable. Hang on, a BRFC fan commented on your lot signing one of our players.......I responded, what is wrong with that exactly? It's getting tense around these parts.....i hope you sing a striker soon or it'll be unbearable.

RibbleValleyRover Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Guessing the Chimbonda story is complete BS, we don't need any more defenders. If Poggy is too pricey for Sam then its looking like we are going to sign a cheaper unknown player. We have been through the list of players available and have been either outpriced or they don't want to come here. The rest of the money? well it will disappear of course when Sam asks for it in January. We won't be bringing in anymore central midfielders until some are sold, and looking at our list of central midfielders none are saleable assets at this moment in time. If Sam really wanted to bring in a midfielder he should have accepted the offer for Andrews instead of giving him a new contract. The prospects for next season are looking bleak, guess we will have to rely on there being teams that are worse than us or haven't spent their money wisely.
accyrover Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Jones' goals have kept us up the past two seasons. I'd say at this rate you're more likely to not get Jones (or anyone else you've got on your wishlist) and get relegated. Really ? My advice is not to get into a flame war and dont get cocky just because your club is bankrolled. And my opinion of Jones wont change. You can keep him. So bog off and annoy someone elses message board.
Iceman Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 i hope you sing a striker soon or it'll be unbearable. So what song would be the best option, to get in a striker in your opinion?

Add that to the fact we cannot get a decent striker at a realistic price means that it is fantastic business if we get DiSanto!! That would allow us to pool our money in the future for a long term option!!
mellison24 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 So what song would be the best option, to get in a striker in your opinion? I would suggest '500miles' for sheer randomness!!
Iceman Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I have never in my whole life heard or ever thought I'd hear that sentance. Made my year! thanks!!! haha Miracles do happen occasionaly I would suggest '500miles' for sheer randomness!! Was thinking more along the lines of,clueless!
roversmad95 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 11.04 Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro is determined to earn a first-team place at Stamford Bridge despite Werder Bremen's interest in a permanent deal. this could be good for us...they wont want 6 strikes there....(i really hope we get di santo)..... 12.49 Derby manager Nigel Clough expects to secure the signing of Saul Deeney within the next seven days, but is still waiting on a reply regarding Frank Fielding. why have we not let him go yet we have about 5 keeps havent we?
Iceman Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Why does nobody want Luca 'the Rover' Toni Toni, Benni, Di Santo, Roberts and with both Diouf and Gally as attacking options.
Bobby G Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 We are almost in August. If Ancelotti hasnt yet let go of Di Santo, the chances of him doing so now is less and less. Also, he would have missed out on properly getting used to our players, tactics and so on by missing out on pre-season with us.

Well you could say the same, about the main striker we are after as well. We should have secured at least 1 striker who would have been part of pre season.
Kelbo Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 what tactics? we only have 1....hoof it up to roberts and watch him loose it... we are fked Well, watching pre season, the team have been playing 442!! Long ball will be an option, but we dont appear to be playing that system, we shall see come the Hibs game, may have an idea which way we are going to play then but at the moment its not all long ball stuff!! It really is down to who we get as a striker, that will determine a lot, but if Di Santo comes and plays with pace, he is quick, we could have a few options to our gameplan!!
Backroom DE. Posted July 27, 2009 Backroom Posted July 27, 2009 Watching the Wembley Cup on Sky Sports 1... Spurs really want 14-18M for Bent?
Iceman Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Bent was @#/?. Spurs were outplayed by some extremely talented youngsters in the Barca team.

He is 6'4" & built like Peter Crouch... In the games Iv'e seen him in, he has not looked quick... not slow by any means... but certainly not quick!!!
Exiled_Rover Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Let's get Bentley back for 2mil and a kitkat I'd be willing to stretch to a KitKat chunky and a Double Decker.
