I predicted this would happen. Sam is thought to be the messiah after saving our bacon. Adulation which will slowly ebb away when the season starts and we get subjected to terrible football. I also dislike the inference in certain places, that this is all we deserve and we are suited to each other.

The season has even't started yet. Can we get to the opening kickoff BEFORE we declare the sky is falling?

Hang on, a BRFC fan commented on your lot signing one of our players.......I responded, what is wrong with that exactly?

It's getting tense around these parts.....i hope you sing a striker soon or it'll be unbearable.

A BRFC fan who naturally expects Rovers fans on a Rovers website. Always welcome other fans on here, it's a free world but there is a responsibility not to get acidic and suggest we will get relegated in your original response. If it is unbearable for you then I am sure there is a Mackem site of similar quality to this one - then again perhaps not.

As for Jones if he is available Sam will know in detail as he does talk to Bruce. I think he would fit our system better than Sunderland but that is an opinion only.

In the meantime we need to keep our powder dry in respect of our Russki chum if the price is as hinted, an eye-watering £9 million. There are other players available at that price and he is untried in the Premiership. There have been a lot of foreign flops and we can't afford to write off losses that other clubs can. I am sure we will hack an acceptable deal, if not sit out to the end of his contract and grease his palm and his agents .......

Completely and utterly seconded!!

Hells bells can we have a bit of cheer to lift this dirty great rain cloud that's developing?

Lets face it - Sam ain't no messiah but I still think he's the best man for the job given our current predicament. It's no ones fault that from several different perspectives we are barely able to compete with even the likes of (with due respect) Stoke, Sunderland, Fulham, West Ham etc, let alone the Villa's, Spurs and Evertons. We're stuck in a rotten market where unfortunately personal gain, money and greed has almost taken over completely.

Whatever everyones's personal opinion is of Sam (and that's all it is), like it or not we are united by the fact he wants the same thing as us and that's Blackburn Rovers to finish as high up that gluttony infested table next season as possible. It does seem now that frustration is starting to kick in amongst a lot of people (me included)- and rightly so, but I'd bet my last pound that there's no one on this board more frustrated at the moment than Big Sam himself.

We wait, and if the worst happens and we really can't find this superhero striker, without which we will be condemned to certain eternal oblivion in the championship and beyond (if some of this board is to be believed), then we get down to Ewood and sing our hearts out like we always do and I'll tell you what - we'll still be turning over the likes of Spurs & Sunderland, we'll STILL be getting criticised for our "brand" of football, we'll STILL only get two minutes on Match of the Day and come the end of the season we'll STILL finish higher than everyone thinks, we'll STILL be "unfashionable", we'll STILL be skint and Burnley will STILL be waiting to beat us.

I LOVE this club and can't wait for the season to start, striker or not.

Darren Bent seems to be on the move any idea where Nicko?

Hopefully it kicks off the window a bit.....

I doubt it will, he'll probably go to Tottenham, who in turn will buy Crouch, and then the money will end up in the pockets of Pompey's skint new owners. They might let a few million out for a replacement but nothing significant.

Off to Villa I hear, but i guess you are here to try and confirm that. Leaves Sunderland more unlikely to sell Jones and us in limbo.

Where did you hear that?

I heard he was off on a Villa messageboard but the general consensus is he is in talks with Sunderland?

We are getting a highly rated striker for the price of his wages, that alone is enough of a reason to take him. Add that to the fact we cannot get a decent striker at a realistic price means that it is fantastic business if we get DiSanto!! That would allow us to pool our money in the future for a long term option!!
Highly rated he might be, that is no garantee that he's going to be a success here. I'd rather we spent the money on a player who would be contracted here for 3/4 seasons, instead of a "rough diamond" who is going to bugger off back to Chelsea despite what happens. Just so we won't have to go through all this again.

So lemme get this straight, you are complaining that we might be getting a gem of a player for a season, possibley bang in goals and do really well then goes back to chelsea next summer with the chance of us picking up a replacement in a more stable market.

Or

He turns out to be ###### and we send him back, no harm done.

I really do wonder what planet some people live on... <_<

A few of our own fans have made similar suggestions, but as soon as a Sunderland fan says we're going to end up with no main striker and get relegated people jump on him. Maybe what he said was designed to be inflammatory, but it could equally have been a fair assessment of where Rovers are right now.

Isn't this...Pogrebnyak...the person who said Blackburn is to (insert adjective(s) ie: to small, etc..) of a club for me?

9mil - If this figure is correct then Sam/We should be out of there right quick. It's a waste of time. Let Pogs and his bosses admire themselves while we keep busy.

We(club and supporters) do need to be patient. It's very hard to bide your time and be patient especially after last seasons close call. But, the last thing we want is to fork over wads of cash for the wrong player. We may have to wait until the season starts? This particular window is difficult, period. Not just for strikers:

http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...5455375,00.html ....14miil for Toure?

Isn't the midfield the heart of the team? We would be better served buying midfield then putting our money on a Pogrebnyak or the like!

Clearly not.

In all fairness though it has been a few more hours since Franco di Santo still hasn't signed for us. This mainly due to the fact that he's on a plane coming back from the US and not having a medical. Why can't Chelsea make the pilot go faster? Anyway he'll stop at Chelsea now, he's bound to. Woe is me. Not that I wanted him here anyway, what's the point on getting a good player in?

Elsewhere, Sam still hasn't signed a RSC replacement. Possibly because he can't find someone who is as injured. Downing would have been a good shout but doesn't offer the physio as much height.

Two weeks to go until the first game. Benni and Roberts are both fit. They weren't at the end of last season were they? Oh no. if push comes to shove we'll just have to push Big Chris up there won't we? Not overly pretty and we might win some games so there is that danger. Unless of course we meet the demands of those pesky Zenits for the POG. Or perhaps we are playing a game of Russian Roulette with them - my money is on Williams - hold your nerve.

if we do that there might be a chance we have some pennies for this new midfield maestro / genius we're going to sign for about £4million (aka "A Grella"). To go along with our other midfeilders: Dunny, Vincenzo, Warnock, Emerton, NZonzi, Van Halen, Pedersen, Keef, Judge, Reidy, Hoillett, Doran and Diouff. We're struggling for numbers in there. Fortunately we have this huge sum of money that can buy a world beater. Oh - if push comes to shove we can stick Gally in there as well apparently - should 12 of the others come down with Swine Flu, which we're bound to get by the way, all of us, at the most inconvenient time as well.

What else? No one applied for the Coach job, no one wants to run the Academy, no one knows about season tickets, no one knows about any of the hospitality events, no one knows the Blues Bar is ever open, no one knows if David Fevre has gone to Man City, the kit manager hs left as well - has he been replaced?

Warnocks off to Villa, Bennis off to McDonalds, Sambas off to City if the other 20 centre halves they have lined up fall through. If City don't want him then he'll go to Spurs. They all go to Spurs. Nelsen, our Captain and leader, has lost his pace, Roberts still can't finish one on one, no one knows how Nick Blackman is getting on in the reserves (mainly because they haven't been playing), burnley were beating us twice in the Masters Pub league, you still can't buy blue and white neck braces in the club shop, that black panel really is poor, as is the away strip which we'll never wear ever, you can't get 300 seats together in the Blackburn End anymore, Sam is still fat, Morten is still crap and has been since 1964.

Be honest - it's just another typical close season!

nicko - is there an 11 O'Clocker?

We're not going to sign a midfielder. We've got Dunn, Grella, Andrews, Reid, Emerton and N'Zoni who can all play there. If Sam really wanted to invest there, he would have accepted Fulham's bid for Andrews - not tied him down to a four-year contract.

Let Poggy sweat in Leningrad, run his contract down and then offer him a bosman deal. Of course, this could all be done with the agent on the quiet. In the meantime, lets get another striker in, wages allowing of course.

I'm worried about our midfield.

I think we can fairly safely predict now how the Rusian thing will pan out. Rovers will try to save face by claiming that the asking price is unreasonable given the contract situation etc etc. and that will be the last we hear of that.

Where does that leave us if Ancelotti decides Di Santo is too good to be merely allowed to leave on loan?

IN-THE-SHYTE!

STOP! pissin around Rovers and put a large concrete offer in for this Russian,we have the cash and its time to SPEND <_<

If we can get the Ruskie and the Di Santo then we might have a chance of beating Burnley this season!

I hardly call him a gem, more of a very rough diamond that Chelsea want us to polish, so they can take him back  I'm sick of this defeatish attitude Rovers fans seem to have come up with "We're just a small club and we only deserve to have players that we can sell them on". Soon it will be "We're just a small club we don't deserve to be in the Premierleague, we can't compete with these big clubs". I don't want us to be a selling club and I don't care that we are a small club, I want us to be punching above our weight and continue to push above our weight. If we finish 6th one season, I want us to finish 5th the next. Not just having mediocore 15th finishes were we just norrowly escape relegation.

But do you know what screw ya, if you want to have another season where we jsut avoid relegation then thats your thing.
