DeadlyDirk Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 nicko if in deed the Poggy deal is dead do you expect Sam to reconsider old targets such as Zigic, or it it back to square one from here? I agree if the Di Santo deal falls through we are beginning to look a bit thin up front with August fast approaching.

Taggart Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 If Burnley get relegated it will be because the great man left... I don't even want to think what would happen if Di Santo fell through. And I am not alone. Do you know who to call to get confirmation of whether he is Ewood bound tomorrow Nicko - or will it just be a case of finding out when he arrives ? Surely someone at Rovers end knows if he is coming or not, as the clubs must have been in contact, as arrangements would have had to been made.

RibbleValleyRover Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 i had to read this 3 times to make sure i read it correctly. Zamora is worse than we already have and to be honest, when i have seen him play, he has been Championship standard - not at all a high quality player regardless of being in budget. I would rather sign Zobby Bamora Rushed typing and a long night, so sorry i wasn't clear enough. Basically Nicko mentioned the cost for Pogrebnyak could be around the £5.5 million mark, i was using the inferior Bobby Zamora as a comparison in terms of how much players in this current market cost. If you had a choice of Poggy, Zamora or Campbell for the same price there is only one winner...
Kelbo Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Que sera sera!! This is really a strange window, I would take Pog at £5,000,000 he has so much to his game but, Sam always asks for one thing from his players, even if you are having a 'mare' you have to put a shift in, thats what Diouff did last year, and pederson, thats why I dont think he wants Benni!!
Taggart Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Agreed. How much was Zamora going to cost Hull £5 million?. He's a high quality player who is in our budget, if Sam wants him whether the price is £5.5 million or closer to the figure being talked about before we should pay it. i had to read this 3 times to make sure i read it correctly. Amo Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Who was it who said this topic has Jumped the Shark? I wholeheartedly agree.
Blue n White Rover Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 He aint saying Zamoras good! He said he's a high quality player...Am I missing something here
Drakefyre Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 You are missing that he was talking about Pogrebnyak
Kelbo Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Nicko, Will Sam be at the Wednesday friendley or will he still be away looking for players? Has he come back from Russia yet or are they holding him hostage for £5,000,000
BRFC1995 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 what does poggy had a 'beast' mean? another way of saying 'mare' or does it mean he was awesome?........either way it was only 1 match just sign the fella. dreading the feeling are strike duo will be the heaviest and laziest and slowest ever mido+benni come august. gotta be some random african in the belgium of french leagues worth a pop....there always is! There is no way we kick off with benni as the best striker on the books..........very depressing thought

I have a feeling he didnt put in a shift, thats what Sam likes, work ethic has to be good, whatever the situation, I am inclined to agree with him and that is why he uses Andrews, despite the guys total lack of ability, he does put in a shift, though I personally think he is first division quality at best!!

His work ethic in the game was excellent, was full of running, just a few shocking finishes. Work rate for this guy isn't a problem, it was more putting the ball in the back of the net which will have made Sam think twice.

I thought someone (can't remember who) did their own report on the Zenit game and said that Poggy did put himself about quite a lot and that only 1 player covered more distance than Poggy did. Going by that I would say it sounds as though he put in a decent shift, but maybe it was his performance in front of goal which let him down.

If thats the case, sign him now, he is two footed, decent upstairs and at £5,000,000 a steal compared to Kenwynne Jones etc You can have games when the ball doesnt go for you, but the guy is quality, we would live to regret if we missed him!!

Yep that was me, watched it on bet365, only one player ran more in the entire game. (Well up to 85 mins or so when they put the stat up). His chances were not sitters but the kind of half chances you need to be taking, it was a really important game for Zenit so it magnified the situation, I didn't realise at the time but Rubin who they played are currently top of the league and the game finished 0-0. Sam might very well want a second look at him if he has to pay over the odds.

Backroom Tom Posted July 27, 2009 Backroom Posted July 27, 2009 As someone said £5million for Zamora compared to 5.5 for Poggy, i know what I'd take even with the risk factor.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Spanner in the works? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...-Ancelotti.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...pping-list.html
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Lancashire Telegraph reports that Rovers are bracing themselves for a bid from Villa for Warnock. Meanwhile, Sam's interest in Proggy has cooled, Rovers are confident a deal could be struck should they wish to persue it but at the moment they have a number of irons in the fire. Telegraph also reports that Di Santo is expected to arrive on loan very soon.
patrickvalery Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Spanner in the works? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...-Ancelotti.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...pping-list.html This doesn't sound good. I don't think i've been alone in thinking this was not going to go through. As soon as Ancelotti came in it was always going to be a distinct possibility he'd want to keep him. The only hope i hold is these quotes were said to give the boy the belief that he is wanted at Chelsea long term and the pending loan to us is only to short term. But even i think i'm clutching at straws!
