Weren't we "interested" in M'Bia a few weeks ago?

It seems his transfer to Marseille failled and he is now on his way to Stoke City.

Should Sam try to get him?

Have you got a link Oklahoma?

What has happened to Everton's interest in him?

I slated Andrews at the start of his Rovers career and then even mellowed some towards the end.

IF and IF Foolham have offered anywhere near the £2.5m for him then snap his hands off. There are suitable replacements available for him in the likes of Barton and Nolan.

Barton I hear some shout ? Well he may have his head buried when it comes to common sense but he really can be and is QUALITY midfielder, one that can be a Rovers star in the central position.

Keep him fit, keep him on the pitch and you have one hell of a player.

We are actually quite heavy in midfield now. Without including young players we have these guys who can play in the centre: Dunn, Reid, Grella, Emerton, Warnock, N'Zonzi, Andrews. We could afford to let Andrews go without getting anyone in because in Givet and Jacobsen we have full backs who release Emerton and Warnock to play in the middle.

There is one issue though - Reid, Grella, Emerton and Dunn have all had recent major injury problems. THat said we can't really afford having 7 players for two spots....

Let me break it down: Dunn cannot play centre midfield. He must either be on the wing or as an attacking midfielder in a 4-5-1. Why? He doesn't have any defensive fibres and his legs are gone. Reid hasn't played in 2 years, has to be eased back in. If he doesn't break down, what's left of him as player? His strong points was always his stamina and physique.

N'Zonzi has been bought for the future and should not be counted this season. The young lad must get a chance to adapt before being counted as valid option. Warnock might be freed up for midfield with Givet, but still we need double covers on both fullbacks. So basicly we have 2 valid options in Andrews and Grella, one potential in Reid, 2 makeshift in Emerton and Warnock who both might be needed in other positions.

If anything this displays the our weakest area. At least 2 midfielder should be brought in before. One being a defensive powerhouse, the other one a more attacking one.

Agree with briansol. We have lacked quality in central midfield for a while now. Since the days of Sav and Tugay (when a bit younger).

We have no one who can seem to pass the ball accurately (or keep it for that matter). Plus, looking at our defensive midfield option, Grella, the jury is very much still out.

Totally agree with you and Hughsey Roverite. A club in our position would do incredibly well to take a talent like Barton for the money being quoted. I know he has more baggage than terminal 5, but he is head and shoulders better than anything we've got.

I don't want to start the debate raging again, but i think some of his on field misdemeanors were born out of pure frustration. He was in a Newcastle side that were so inept in almost every department that he often let his frustrations boil over. Personally i think in a well organised outfit he'd fight tooth and nail (no biting or eye gauging comments please) for the cause.

At some stage he will grow up and become the player he always threatened to be. I think he would be worth the risk.

Please stop talking about Barton. You are giving me palpitations!

Ditto Davies.

Nah... Bartons not fit to wear our shirt!........... I'd rather we went for Essien, Fabregas or Gerrard.

We're supposed to be REDUCING our wage bill. Andrews won't be on more than what, 10k? Barton makes 65k a week at Newcastle plus 30k+ in one of those "image rights" deals the taxman is supposed to be taking a keen interest in.

Come on Fylde (mates rates) 15-20k he's not that bad. ;)

There will be an 11 o'clocker...awful lot happening elsewhere...and a couple of local matters to clear up.

These 11 o`clockers haven`t been subject to british summer time I do believe, therefore I propose that they become 10 o`clockers during the summer, that way I can read them at night; baby duty in the morning = early nights !

All i will say to those who want BARTON is good grief. He has talent and ability, but we already have enough players who are getting paid for doing feckall. I would rather give Judge and Doran a chance.

Barton's pure poison!! He hasn't learned to control his temper and will only do so after he receives counseling. Part of playing football is learning to deal with frustration. Its there at every turn. Barton will continue with his childish ways every time he gets frustrated. He'll be cancer to any team he plays for. I frankly have much harsher adjectives to connect to Mr. Barton but, i don't want to start trouble.

When's the last time Barton played well for any length of time? Pretty near 3 years ago. He has high wages and is a selfish player. NOT a team player.

Say what you want about Keith Andrews but, he'll be there every day working hard. His mentality is "team". Will do anything you ask with no griping. 100% effort 100% of the time. And if Fulham are willing to pay 2.5m for him i would trust Roy Hodgson's opinion. I have to think Mr. Hodgson knows alot more then myself and the majority on this messageboard.

Forget Barton.

You also on baby duty Taggart? Lol. I agree, Nicko these 11 o' clockers need to be earlier, say a 9 o'clocker. :-)

Just read the "Rovers snub Fulham" link on the LT website. I'm amazed... even though I think Andrews did a job for us last season we have a chance to have one of the best laughs since selling Shefki Kuqi. We could probably get £5m by selling him to Woy - the most genius manager to have ever been given a transfer chequebook (Davies and Dailly - I wonder where our money went?)

Rubbish Taggart! Andrews gives 100 percent, despite lacking the ability of someone like Barton. Barton is talented, but at least Andrews will be on the field, out of trouble and happy to just be a squad player. Will Barton be happy sitting on our bench, the same applies to Nolan.

The main point i`m making, rather than homing in on Barton, is that Keith is easily replaced - plus, i think you`ll find that Barton gives 100% and that`s often what leads him in to trouble on the pitch

andrews has never been a favourite of mine , never will , but , what i will say , is that last season he wast he ONLY central midfield player we had with "legs "

moko , tugay , grella , dunn are all "static" midfielders , not one of them had the ability of fitness or desire , whatever you want to call it to run beyond the forwards and try and score a goal , and then get back in time to help out defensively even now with 2 of those midfilders gone , we recruit n'zonzi who has been described as an holding midfielder , and does anyone really expect steven reid to have that in his locker after 2 years out?...dont think so...!

barton , love him or hate him , has that ability , but i wouldnt pay him in washers

Agree. Cant believe people on here are pro Barton, because they believe he can do a job for us. Every club who has signed him, thought the same and well he cocked it up.i dont want Barton, because its about keeping this club intact, and not allow this one guy to disrupt, destroy and turn us into a joke.

Much of the stuff has seaped out during the day anyway, so here goes...

DARREN BENT...Sunderland bid now up to £12m, Spurs now willing to take £16 million...still a way apart but can't see any way Rovers are going to nick in there...he wants to move for first-team football but I hear he would prefer to stay down south.

STEPHANE M'BIA...Stoke gone bonkers...bid £10 million...he;s over talking...Everton might yet come back into this one, but a shocker nonetheless...Rovers were never in that race...it was M'Bami not M'BIa who was being watched...and he hasn't got a club yet before you ask.

ANDY VAN DER MEYDE...shock horror...looking good in training...that can't last surely.

KENWYNE JONES...not interested in Radio Lancashire denials...he is on the hot list.

KEITH ANDREWS...the price is £3 million...that could happen unless Fulham come to their senses and realise it's too much.

YOUR NEIGHBOURS...new bid in for Brian Easton at Hamilton...Pancrate has been, gone and won't be back.

There's some Kyle Naughton and Samuel Eto'o news but it does not concern you.

£3 million for Mr Andrews?! I'd personally give him a piggy back down to West London for that price, get him sold JW! Jones would be good,Sam could fulfill his potential. Bent at £16 million..."Your avin a larrf?!" Lol!

My whole argument with it all is, we want to sell a versatile player and allow Reid and Dunn to keep getting paid for doing sweet FA. I know no clubs will not want to sign injury plagued players, but its now time JW decides if enough is enough. They either get a pay as you play contract, or some other alternative agreement is agreed with them.players like Judge and Doran deserve a chance, but how many chances does Barton deserve?
