Nicko any news on whether Gallagher has a chance of playing much this season? Looks like Sam might use him in midfield somewhere. If not, then he could be on his way permanently.

Lol. Dont worry, we will sign Luca Toni, i just know it. :D

Hes already signed hasnt he? He played against Leeds for us didnt he? :D

Gallagher needs to go and play serious football. The boy can play but won't get into the Rovers side too easily. Putting him in midfield rather than attack last night tells you what his chances are.

He's got ability and potential, but it's time he went somewhere and proved it.

The Chelsea players were given a couple of days off after the American trip.

Di Santo and Ancelotti will go through the Rovers loan move - probably tomorrow when they come back in together - and the player will be told why Chelsea think he should go on loan but is still part of their plans when he comes back.

I don't expect any messing around, but you can never be sure until a deal is done.

They are back in training today so could be sooner.

Thanks Nicko.

Bloomin' "Carlo" and "Franco"! I remember when I knew every player we bought. Proper football then.

The only doubt in my mind is that Franco might not fancy Sam's hoofball. Probably doesn't fit in with the sexy football that Chelsea play - and he wants to associate himself with.

I don't think Di Santo will be given the option...and, to be fair, there is no reason to think Rovers will necessarily be playing hoofball next season.

The fact that 4-4-2 is being used in pre-season tells me there may be a change of policy.

Is that Lennon on the far right? Somebody needs to teach him how to dress himself. he looks like a complete t~@t

Bet he'd say the same to you.

Nicko is the new coach coming in going to be the new assistant letting McDonald take a step back or is he coming in to be first team coach?

Big Sam has been takin out the trash,

Even though he's got no spending cash,

So many players been shown the door,

They're not getting paid by us no more,

Yakety Yak dont talk back,

I think the new guy would be 'number three' as McDonald is highly-rated among the players and was Sam's appointment...

I know that there is probably no way that we could afford him, and I know that there is little chance that he would come to a small club like Rovers, but if there is one player that I think could make the world of difference to our season it is Deco. Without Tugay we have literally no-one in our team who can control play in the centre of the park. Those of you who think Dunny is a creative midfielder are dreaming...he is a good footballer and can beat a man, but he is no playmaker. Deco on the other hand is a creative midfielder of the highest quality. He can hold possession, pick out a pass and basically control the tempo and direction of play like few people in world football. Even in the twighlight of his career I suspect that he would have far more impact on our performances than an unproven 10 million pound striker from abroad ever would.

Yes, I know that Deco is on the downhill slope, and I know that he is a bit lightweight. But those are the factors that just maybe could make him an achievable signing for a smaller club like ours....as last season showed he is unlikely to be a central figure at Chelsea or any other top tier club.

Come on Sam...make one of your audacious bids to bring the guy up to Ewood, and make him the new Tugay. You've done it before by taking Djorkaeff, Okocha, Campo and Anelka to Bolton, and trying to sign Rivaldo when he was leaving Barca. Have a go at Deco and bring some world class quality to Ewood.

Ps. yes - I know I'm dreaming.

nicko, is it safe to assume Allardyce is back in England now and finished scouting for at least a day or two, has he actually been spotted at Ewood in the last day or so or is he still playing the chief scout role and leaving the managing to the tea lady.

Without the Poggy deal being ruled out I still wonder if they are trying to negotiate a fee and if the deal is still potentially on. Other than a few trialists and this Kamel bloke no names, new or old seem to have come up in the past few days which suggests he could be still pursuing current targets, either that or were waiting on getting Di Santo signed and delivered before he looks at others.

The Hoilett impact last night may suggest to him were not in a panic situation yet and there is still some hardball to be played, have to remember who the opposition were though.

Well he was in the stands at Leigh yesterday.

How about the fact that Allardyce has instilled this embarassing approach at literally EVERY SINGLE CLUB he has ever managed? And how about last season? And now the desperate search for a 6-foot-plus "target man"?

Honestly Nicko, for someone who clearly appreciates footballing teams, I'm flabbergasted at your mere attempt to defend Allardyce's methods. Do you enjoy watching Stoke as well?

I think he rather means that Sam hired McDonald as his #2 because he wanted him to do that job. He's not looking to replace him.

If there was just a full stop at the end of the sentence that would be the obvious conclusion - the trailing off at the end suggests there is more to the story.

We can't rely on the past. Never take things for granted. Change can happen. Nicko's point is that who in our current side suggests hoofball will be played? I have also been to both Leeds and Leigh games so far and am yet to require a neck-brace....
