Taken from that article Den...

Interesting that he lists the two big selling points as the training ground being one of the best in Europe and the club being in the Premier League. Does that hint at a foreign signing? You wouldn't sell the club to Darren Bent, Crouch or Jones as being 'a premier league club' would you?

Gignac? Cardozo?

I think that would be the approach to a foreign player LW. The English lads would make their mind up about Rovers without needing to set foot anywhere near Brockhall.

Brockhall is a very impressive place, Jack did us proud with those facilities even today after 10 years of serious progress they are still first rate.

When you compare what we have even to the likes of Ajax, we win hands down.

Mr Nicko,

Do you know if Obertan is going to play for united this year?? Or will he be needing some games?

From a spurs forum:

ITK Update

HoofHarted on COYS :

Quote:

Just got off the phone, so this is up to the minute.

Sunderland, hot for Crouch, signing is iminent.

Have also placed a bid for D Bent, miles apart on valuations, ongoing.

Blackburn have made a bid for Kenwynne Jones.

John Terry very interested in Citeh offer, Chelski won't stand in his way if they get £40m.

No mention of Beckham, Viera, Scholes etc.

Hoofharted is mates with Bent and other football agents...

Messed up a few times? There are many players who have messed up, but went back and screwed their heads on properly, knuckled down and gained the respect again. Barton has been messing up, and been given chance after chance to sort himself out. Has he sorted himself out? No! You talk about giving the lad a chance, yet you hardly giving Andrews a chance just because he has less ability than Barton. Im sorry but you doing my head in now with this Barton stuff.

er.... less ability is an understatment. one played in the prem all his life the other league 2? im not saying andrews is no good others are saying that i just think barton is better... like most people do....

so relax....

Nicko, this former legend stuff better be complete tripe.

Let's get Jones in. Would be super signing. Good age. With the right management will terrorise defences. Him, Benni, Roberts, Vieri, Di Santo. Would do for me. Not world beating but certainly competitive. Mind you at present we only have 2 from 5.

can I ask you a question? If you were a professional player and you valued your talent would you want to play for a team containing Joey Barton after what he did to Ousmane Dabo on the training pitch. Do you think he would encourage other players to join?

My fear with Cardozo, Gignac, Janko, etc is that if they make an instant impact and have a good season, they will want to use us as a stepping stone for a move on to a bigger club (think Bellamy, Benni, Roque, etc). Sure, we would benefit from getting a good year out of them and we would probably make a tidy profit. However, a lack of continuity is dangerous thing and rebuilding the strike force every year is a difficult and risky task (as we are currently seeing).

From this point of view, I think that it would be good to get someone in who is not going to jump ship as soon as other clubs start sniffing around. If we could get John Carew for 5 million, I reckon that would be brilliant. He is no youngster (currently 29 years old), but I would think he has another 3 seasons of top flight football left in him (at least). I think Kenwyne Jones would also be good...a bit inconsistent, but he is talented, can be a real handful for defences, and could definitely still improve quite a bit. And I think we could hang onto him for a few years even if he is performing well.

I don't think it is as simple as players wanting to move on if they have a good season. If they have a good season then they would have propelled us up the league, probably into Europe for the big teams to take an interest. So, they would have settled into a new club with new players and surroundings and would have European football to look forward to. I can't see them wanting a move away. i could understand other clubs bidding, but without a release clause and a 4 year contract the bids would just be rejected.

Successful players means a successful team. And if your team is successful you are unlikely to want to move unless you have an ego bigger than Bentleys, or as hungry for cash as Gareth Barry. Especially if the player is young, he may not be as desperate to prove himself at the highest level immediately.

You either plan for mid table and stay there, and buy the mediocre players, or you think big, buy big and risk players leaving. I know which I'd prefer to see us do.

The Best signing would be Obafemi Martins.... he's got pace. He and Roberts or McCarthy would be good upfront together.

Can we get Martins for around £6m it would be a steal!

Nicko: Is Martins on the striker list?

dwayne chambers has got pace as well........all well and good being quick but if your a head down selfish pensioner with no composure it kind of cancels out the pace. steer so far clear of that one

And Carew of course will know all about Brockhall and the quality facilities from his time on trial at Rovers as a youngster. Netted a hat-trick for reserves or youth team too iirc.

With possibly the most ridiculous haircut ever seen on a professional footballer

city and the barcodes had players arrive while he was there..... look im not saying the guy isnt an idiot(he has proved that he is himself) i just think he has what we need skills in the middle of the park....

to answer your question...... yeah i would as he does battle for his team.... there must be fights nearly everyday at training grounds all around the world we just never hear about it.....

i just want the rovers to have players with skill but also people that will battle for there team.... im sure other teams didnt like playing against people like batty, sherwood or savage and i think people wouldnt say great im playing against barton today....(ried,dunn,grella,emo and andrews dont have a fear factor)

but each to there own...... its an opinion and thats what i thought this MB was for......

The point is BuckyRover - he isn`t a pro player so doesn`t value his talent, he is a supporting voicing his opinion on his thoughts as a supporter.

If he was in the mindset of a pro player, you wouldn`t be having this discussion - so its not really a valid question to be answered. Its like saying, would you have a pint with a long lost cousin who did a stretch for armed robbery, but he might be reformed, but yet again he might not !

I can`t condone what Barton did, in fact I think he should have spent longer than he did at her majesty`s pleasure, but IF, and it may be a big IF, BFS was interested in him, and he had changed his attitude and controlled his temper, then he would bring an improvement to our team.

And he has a better skillset than Andrews - maybe I forgive and forget, and give people another chance more than the next guy, but that is how I would like to be treated in life if I f**ked up, hence the way i approach it with other people !

Just read the interview with Sam on tranfers.

I like Sam, I really do, but why does he say stuff like -

"Blackburn Rovers have to ..."

“What I have to convince this club to do is ... "

"They ..."

What's wrong with WE once in a while Sam?

Might help to remember that BRFC is a family club and family is about belonging and being part of a virtual household sometimes. Sam sounds like an itinerant lodger. Grrr.

sell keith andrews , get joey barton in and that would be brilliant business for us...

He wouldn't stay fit for more than 3 games let alone stay on the pitch. woeful signing he would be. He's not had a decent game let alone season for years now!

Did you read the rest of it>>

"We know though we need to bolster the front line and the squad in general"

"We would try to bring them to the training ground first"

"but I think we will be successful in the end" :P
