Dindane is a very good player. But as you say Nicko, he is hardly fit. He is quick and can play as a striker and winger. The ivory coast normally plays him down the wing or behind 2 strikers

How unfit are we talking ? missing pre-seson or an injury that will keep him out for much longer ?

£8.5m for Samba thats a deal that can't be knocked back the guy has a turning circle bigger than the QE2 and although he did alright upfront at the backend of last season a profit of over £7m in 18 months can't be sniffed at with a club as big as ours

Of course it can be knocked back.

Not only would we lose our best defender (certainly the only one that can dominate physically), but we lose a big attacking weapon from set plays. I expect Samba will be worth at least 10 goals in one way or another next season. He'll score a fair few I'm sure he'll directly influence a fair few goals for others too.

Nutbar. He was brilliant for us last year.

£8.5mil? You're having a laugh. For £15 mil plus we might consider it. Young centre halves with attacking ability at set pieces are like gold dust and he is one of the best in the Premier League.

It can be knocked back if you consider the ridiculous inflated market we are operating in. Plus he is one of the few quality players within our squad and will only get better with age.

8.5million for a deal can be knocked back and i would hope it would..

i wouldnt sell for anything under 12million..

hes what 25-hes got everything you need in a good central defender-pace, height, and chips in with the odd goals..age is on his side aswell.

Sorry, I just dont see this attacking ability. It should be there but its not. He doesnt seem to commit at set pieces. 6 goals in 79 games for Rovers and one of those was that slightly flukey superstrike against Spurs. I would expect a lot more for someone of his physical size. Maybe its due to attitute?

Guys - 30 year old Benjani hasn't been able to get into Man City's first team for ages. A Man City team that couldn't score a goal to save their lives.

Let's aim a bit higher than this eh?

Finally, we agree on something! :D

As Maniche's agent, I'm pleased to announce that he is close to sign for Ankaraguçu from Turkey

He will receive €2.5 million per year in a 3 year contract.

FC Porto is close to sign Falcão.

Benfica want a striker but not to replace Cardozo.

Maniche would have been a great buy a season or two ago. However, our midfield is so bloated now with players that we've either only recently signed or wouldn't be able to sell due to recent injury, that I would only want top quality additions. Now I like Maniche, but all things considered, I don't think he is the quality signing we need in this position.

Give him a chance under Allardyce, I don't think there's anyone better at organising set pieces in the league. Set pieces were probably Hughes biggest tactical flaw, we were useless at them despite possessing a fairly big team and a decent set piece taker in Bentley.

Going off topic a bit here, but I'm glad somebody remembers just how utterly inept we were from set peices, both offensive and defensive, under Hughes. Allardyce might not play the most attractive football in the world but, I tell you, he'll at least get the basics right.

I'd knock it back no problem, he's probably the best up and coming centre half in the Premier League. Who would you sign in his place ? If he really has got itchy feet we need to be starting at £ 15 M.

It's more likely due to the fact we have crap corner takers. That, and the fact that he's usually double marked. This in itself isn't a bad thing, it leaves people like Benni unmarked (see Wigan goal).

We as a team are weak in the air, Samba's our only real ariel threat at 6 4", so he doesn't score many because he's the first man to be marked and by another 6 footer, as you said.

We do need more of an ariel threat which will hopefully come with our new striker, then we need to get Gamst hitting his corners again. Because its asking a bit much to get in the type of striker we need and a creative setpiece central player for the 13M we have.

What about Jerko Leko? Wolves are keen. The midfielder has over 50 caps for Croatia and is currently playing at Monaco:

Eddie have you seen him play at Monaco? any good? Saw a £1.5 million price being quoted in the media recently.

Apparently Wolves have dropped out of the race (for whatever reason) and we are battling it out with Stoke for his signature.

Very flimsy and most likely incorrect source.

Bloody hell i hope not! Average as a striker, average as a midfielder.

I wouldn't mind him at the club but just looked at his record and he's yet to score a goal for Newcastle United :o

double it, then i'd still be utterly sick to see him go. Currently the best player in our squad, 2 bit championship defenders go for 5m therefore 8.5 is a joke bid. Anton ferdinand cost about that and he's garbage.............go away with these storys
