BPF Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Not much news as such. BENJANI...I can't see it...not the player he was...if you wanted him he would be there already. STRIKER SEARCH...think what Sam said on Friday was right...made your calls, know the prices and the market...now waiting for Mister Right...who is either too expensive or about to become more available...keep the faith. ROTHEN...some agents trying to tempt him to Portsmouth or Birmingham...can't see anyone buying him...he will have to be a free at his age. EVERTON...finally sparking into life...moves for Ledley and a couple of surprise names now that M'Bia has gone elsewhere. An awful lot of teams chasing people frantically already. One Prem side has stopped a striker joining a Championship side just because he is available...they are taking him instead...not good enough either. YOUR NEIGHBOURS...have robbed coach John Henry from Partick Thistle...Coyley better have a good reason for that one. Ok time for bed. Night all...

Backroom Tom Posted July 11, 2009 Backroom Posted July 11, 2009 Nicko do you think the striker search will end up running till into the season? Also any idea when Chelsea return from the USA so we can find out about Di Santo
andyroversmad Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Nicko heard any other names apart from Rothen for the midfield ?
Fylde Coast Fan Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Well Sunderland have completed the deal for Campbell - £3.5m rising to £6m says the BBC - so that's Kenwyne one step closer to the exit, possibly.
andyroversmad Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 We can do better than Jones. Is he even that good ?
ffan Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 "Former Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia is weighing up a move to rejoin Sam Allardyce at Blackburn. The pair worked together at Bolton and Allardyce wants Sbragia as part of his coaching set up – although Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn and Bruce insist he is welcome to stay." http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/1...ds-for-stopper/
Steve Moss Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 The likes of Valeri Bojinov, Craig Bellamy and Felipe Caicedo may find themselves down the pecking order." I would take any of them, but particularly Caicedo.
47er Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 £8.5m for Samba thats a deal that can't be knocked back the guy has a turning circle bigger than the QE2 and although he did alright upfront at the backend of last season a profit of over £7m in 18 months can't be sniffed at with a club as big as ours Here we go again. We've lost the best 3 players we had so now its down to the second row. As for profit, its just like houses-if you sell on an inflated market you have to buy on one. In reality you make no profit at all. This is especially true of us when the manager never gets all the money to spend. All we are doing is weakening our squad and strengthening everyone elses. Samba is an inspirational figure who is yet to peak. Reject all offers.

And Diouf has had a better year than Bentley (as well as the rest of the squad....).
The Harwood Yankee Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Cruz and Bently and ???. I guess you mean Freidal but to be honest Robinson has had as good a year as the American. And Diouf has had a better year than Bentley (as well as the rest of the squad....). Diouf has had a better year than Bentley. and the rest of the squad? What matches have been watching? Better than Bentley at Spurs maybe, where he's clearly had a 'mare this season, but nowhere near as good as any season Bentley had at Rovers. No idea how Diouf fits into the plan for next season - what is his position exactly?!
Eddie Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Spoken to a friend of mine that works at PSG and he says that our interest in Frédéric Piquionne is very real. We've been linked with him this summer, but according to him the deal has a real chance of happening. Very poor player if it turns out to be the case.
Parsonblue Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Bussman leaves for 1860 Munich; Arestidou moved Shrewsbury. Young goalie from Derby, Kean, in. Goalies in and out... no point really. The point being that both Bussman and Arestidou looked pretty poor last season. Neither looked anywhere near good enough. Kean made a promising debut for the Reserves at Wigan but, as with all young goalkeepers, is going to be a gamble. Very few players progress from the youth set up to become the club's number one. Look at Joe Hart at City. After breaking into the first team he has been replaced by a more experienced 'keeper. It is the one position in the team where experience is usually the main qualificiation. Better for Fielding to move on and become the first choice somewhere rather than waiting in line behind Robinson and Bunn. I doubt he would get ahead of those two next season.
tcj_jones Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 With Robinson in his prime, Fielding wouldn't get a sniff of the first team at Rovers for a number of years. He's making the right decision in moving on.
Stuart Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn and Bruce insist he is welcome to stay." Welcome to stay? Hardly sounds like they are desperate to keep him! He'd be a great addition to our backroom staff.
john.leigh Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Bradford fans seem to think Fielding is signing for them...
Iceman Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Nicko do you think the striker search will end up running till into the season? Also any idea when Chelsea return from the USA so we can find out about Di Santo Tom, we just lost RSC and Derbs. If we start the season with only 2 recognisable strikers in Benni and Roberts then ill be very angry. We needed at least 1 striker besides Vieri with the squad for pre season. I can see Sam taking a chance on Vieri if he struggles to find a striker. He might also bring in Van Der Meyde and play Dioufy as a striker.
John Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Sbragia and Sam are close friends - would be shocked if he does not join, if Karl moves on and becomes kn*bheads number 2.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Any chance Arnesen's move to Sporting Director might scupper getting Di Santo on loan? If Chelsea bring in someone else to be in charge of the youth and development setup? They may have a different view on Di Santo’s future?
den Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Any chance Arnesen's move to Sporting Director might scupper getting Di Santo on loan? If Chelsea bring in someone else to be in charge of the youth and development setup? They may have a different view on Di Santo’s future? I have a sneaking suspicion that this wont happen. Not sure if I want to proved right or wrong.
American Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 If RSC went for 18 million, Samba discussions start over 20 mil.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 We simply cant afford to lose Samba for love nor money, this side is weak enough as it is!!! Quality is proving hard enough to come by as we are finding out......depressingly quiet on our transfer front but no wonder with the ridiculous prices being touted around.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I suspect that now Rovers are being quoted higher than expected prices for forwards means that Rovers are going to sell another to increase Sam's transfer fund. With the squad players not moving very fast with the exception of Derbs then one more stellar player will have to be sold. With several players already available to play Centre Half and left back then a mega money for Samba or Warnock might just be on the cards. Sam's denial earlier is just a guise to make bids higher.
nicko Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 Any chance Arnesen's move to Sporting Director might scupper getting Di Santo on loan? If Chelsea bring in someone else to be in charge of the youth and development setup? They may have a different view on Di Santo's future? Funnily enough, it helps. Arnesen is the guy who has given Rovers first option. Ancelotti will see him train and possibly play a game on tour...but it still looks good for him to join Rovers at the end of the month. Bradford fans seem to think Fielding is signing for them... No, definitely Championship...and for a few quid. Are you aware of whether or not we're still in contact with him Alan? A couple of agents are trying to talke Rothen to Birmingham or Portsmouth...seems Sam has his priorities elsewhere and only on strikers right now.
deazel Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Nicko, Do you think that there is a chance that Villa will let John Carew go? They seem to be looking to bring in a striker (Berg perhaps), and with Heskey having only arrived 6 months ago, it would appear that Carew maybe isn't central to MON's future plans. Do you know if he is one of the names on Sam's striker shortlist (or 'longlist', as the case may be)? Any idea what he would cost in transfer fee and wages? I would love to see him at rovers!
thenodrog Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I would love to see him at rovers! We've already seen him at BRFC.
