To be fair, that one came out of the Home of Football* on Saturday afternoon.

*Firhill Park.

SSN:

10.27 Blackburn Rovers have handed a trial to French youngster Alharbi el-Jadeyaoui.

The guy is a tall and quite quick winger, but he is no youngster [22] and has played all of his days at a low level. I think his agent has done very well to get him even near to the building.

Don't know what the Shearer situation was - maybe he had a get out clause? We lost Duff unnecessarily because of the clause and we [well Ince really] were too quick to sell Bentley. Cut our own throats there.

No we didn't have adequate replacements, but the problem is that top players can't be replaced with equal quality and there's only one way you'll go continually selling your best players. Do the absolute best you can to keep them - and I don't believe we've been doing that for quite a while now.

Book balancing I guess. It really IS important Den and reducing st's every year cannot help too much.

Shearer left because his boyhood club came in with a WORLD record fee - Simple as that!

It's widely acknowledged that Shearer would have gone to MU but for JW.

From that article Hughesy and a reply to people who think selling top players is the way to go:

“There was a massive jump [in player prices] just over a year ago and another massive jump now. It starts from the top and works its way down.

“That is why it is so important to keep all the players you have got rather than having to keep trading because it has always been a very difficult area to work in and it is more difficult now than ever before.”

£:euro is now working against us big time and so is the 10% rise in top rate income tax. .... We can blame Gordy for that btw. ;)

There is no great conspiracy here to trouser the Roque cash. So, just keep it real.

I've no doubt that some will get 'trousered', and quite right to.

He plays for Brest, a decent club, they signed him last summer and he looked OK from what I've seen. He'll be turning 23 fairly soon.

Why are we not in for Gudjohnsen?

He is virtually wetting himself over a move to the premiership!

100,000 reasons a week. Plus he is not really the type of player we need at the moment. We need a target man.

Encouraging. I take it he is left footed as we have quite a lot of right wingers now?

Surely he can't be after 100k?

WHU are supposedly in for him and I thought I heard Nicko say that they are not exactly fledge at the moment.

Gudjohnsen could get us 15+ goals next season, with the right service, more than Crouch or Bent could.. But hey that's just my opinion, not Sam's, and I do have huge trust in the man.

Havent we been linked with Gudjohnsen for about 3 years now? Whats the point, if he wanted to play for us, then he would already of been here by now - lacks the desire for me, happy to sit on the Barca bench to pick up his big wages.

Another French lad, again over 6ft! Looks like Sam has many scouts over in France.

Apparently Spurs are in for Naughton and want Walker as well.

Anything to do with this Nicko?

12.16 Sky Sources: Manchester City are in talks with Arsenal to sign Emmanuel Adebayor.

Seriously how many striker are they going to have?

Santa Cruz, Robinho, Adebayor (?), Tevez, Caciedo, Bojinov - Not looking bad for them is it!!!

Why can't we go after Bojinov or Caceido?

I think they are doing the wrong thing though. They have a centre-back and midfield problem.

It won't help buying all these strikers.

Sam seems to be changing his mind on this every couple of days. Not sure what to read into his latest comments. Surely he can't have been rebuffed by all his domestic targets in the space of a few days?

Could he be using the media to his advantage to push a few things!?? ;)

Agree on Caciedo - maybe its one of the clubs Sam is waiting to do their business.

Caceido is a good shout but Bojinov has been injured for the past two seasons. On a free perhaps, but I wouldn't pay anything for him right now.
