T4E Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Karl Robinson leaves to join up with Ince - Mug! Good news, all traces of Ince are slowly being removed. Andrews next, please.
Hughesy Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Was just saying in the other thread - with Downes & now Karl Robinson gone, it gives sam a much better chance to get a stronger back room team/ academy. Good news for the club. Sbragia in next please Sam.
I'm sure Bob Fleming can translate that... "The phantom has struck! Marek Mintal from Nurenburg and the band Knipst, is in the Clubs night garden. Butros Butros Jerry Venglos of Sport Bild claims "He's had enough of the Bundesliga and is off to England. Eintracht Frankfurt are resigned to losing him after the mighty Blackburn offered his wife a fur coat. That **************** Santa Cruz is a gobs****." That last bit beats me though.

alexanders Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 No Sbragia to Blackburn? SAFC offer Sbragia chief scout role

Very funny bob , I ran it through the online translater and got the proper version - The Phantom is? Ck! That Marek Mintal of 1 N FC Nuremberg again at the current tape knipst is also other clubs did not escape. His advisers advisers Juraj Venglos best? Confirmed in the "Sport Bild": "There are offers from the Bundesliga and England." Apart from Eintracht Frankfurt in Blackburn, he is f? R wanting to drain the Santa Cruz in the conversation? Ch. Whether Mintal for Rovers also roque w? Rde? Yours kinda made more sense though.
waggy Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 it's alright this gabbing on about strikers, but were is our midfield playmaker/general,if we go into the season relying on dunn and reid we are sunk, never mind the invisible grella
Hughesy Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 No Sbragia to Blackburn? SAFC offer Sbragia chief scout role Old news that - Its up to him to decide Head Scout or his natural role of Coach at ewood?
alexanders Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Old news that - Its up to him to decide Head Scout or his natural role of Coach at ewood? I wasn't aware that. Found it today.
Fife Rover Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 They have 23 players who have made 197 Premier League between them (about the same as Brett Emerton), most for clubs who finished in the bottom 5. Of the 7 with experience, they have been relegated 6 times. The only players with other top league experience were in Scotland, hardly a top league. John Millar and Lee Makel did quite well there as I remember. Can you name a Burnley player who is "good"? The newly signed Tyrone Mears perhaps, part of the worse Premier League team ever? I really don't know where you got that idea from. I DO remember Lee Makel arriving up here and signing for Livingstone who were at that time still in SPL. But that was the last sight or sound of him. He totally disappeared at that point never to be seen or heard of again (metaphorically speaking). And as for John Millar.......all I can say is "WHO?" Never even heard of him.
Kelbo Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Yeah, it's not like we took a gamble on Bentley or Santa Cruz. Hughes was able to find gems in the market who increased in market value, Sam should be looking to do the same. It's just a integral part of the club's survival. We're a great prospect for obscure/wayward players who want to further their careers. We're not a club who can afford to pay £5-10m on Kevin Davies types. Try hopping out of Nicko's pocket once in awhile, Kelbo. Common sense really topman, which strikers would have a resale value nowadays?? will Ronaldo go for £90 million next time, even in defenders, will Bridge go for £20 million?? doubt it. Now suppose we spend £7,000.000 on the untried Janko and he doesnt come off, how much is he worth then?? We need a striker who is almost guaranteed to do a job, well as much as you can guarantee and they dont come cheap either, if you threw money at Crouch, with wages on a three year contract you would be talking 20 million plus! How much would you saell him for in three years time, even if he was successful?? You can be the best scout in the world and you are hoping for real luck in that kind of market!! This is what we are asking a scout to do, find a player ideally 23 to 25 years old, who can have an impact at premiership level, who scores goals and will have a resale value??? thats tough, very tough, in an ideal world fine, but its a real world and a striker meeting that criteria would cost £20,000,000 in fee alone, then wages on top!! So whilst I do agree in an ideal situation re sale value would be the correct way to go, we have to take what is available and at the right money and wages, thats where its tough.. Maybe Sam is not happy with the players the scouts are asking him to look at, hence the departure of Barry Whitbread!! Many people on here say Hughes got Santa Cruz, it was the scouts who found him and as Sam has said, lots of the targets were the ones Ince was looking at and that should say enough in itself, the scouts have to come up with the players, the manager has the final decision!! A manager must trust his scouts!!
waggy Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 with hughes being a forward happen he just knew a good one when he saw one
tcj_jones Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Common sense really topman, which strikers would have a resale value nowadays?? will Ronaldo go for £90 million next time, even in defenders, will Bridge go for £20 million?? doubt it. How much would you saell him for in three years time, even if he was successful?? You realise by 're-sale value' we mean a player that will, at the very least, recoup a sizeable amount of the fee we originally paid? Ideally we will buy somebody who we can sell on for profit but, if that is not possible, then bring somebody in who will at least make us SOME money back in the future. It doesn't matter if we get a golden oldie on a small fee and then give him away for nothing because we haven't lost much. When it's Kevin Davies for £5m+ and when we'd be lucky to get £500k for him in three years time, it's a different story. With football spiralling out of control the way it is at the moment, I'd expect Ronaldo to move for more than £80m in five years, when he'd arguably be in his prime. Bridge is slightly different because he is older, but he'd certainly recoup a sizeable percentage of the original transfer fee. If we paid £7m for Janko and he were successful, we'd probably get a fair percentage of our original transfer fee back after three years at the club as he'd still be 29 and have a fair few years left in him. If he were unsuccessful with us and we sold, then we'd probably take a hit, but it's not like he'd be going on a free and we'd just wasted £7m.
gazsimm Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 after watching Sam's interview yesterday, he made it clear he wants a new forward in as quickly as possible. I reckon a deal is very close with someone.
Manchester Blue Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Nicko serious question so i'd appreciate a serious reply as opposed to anything Coyley does is fine by me etc etc. Do you seriously expect them to stay up alone be top half as you've made a few hints at? I'm not suggesting they will definitely go down but I think it will be a massive task to stay up. I'm genuinely interested as to why you think they will stay up when they finished some distance behind Wolves and Brum last season and clearly don't have the financial clout to compete either.
Amo Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Janko at £7m would hardly be a gamble when the guy is in his mid-20s. In the event that he did flop, we would still be able to compensate for that loss. And if he has a blinder, we're looking at Santa Cruz type money. Kevin Davies for £5-10m is incredibly short-sighted and counter-productive. We're not going to recoup anything from him, whether he's successful or not. Nicko - Do you think Stefan Maierhofer would be a player on Big Sam's hit-list? 6'7" 26 years old. Scored 18 goals in 20 apps for Rapid Vienna last season, and helped them lift the title.

Anything Coyley does is fine by me... It will be a challenge, but I think he will have the spirit of the team from last season with young legs in key areas. The Premier League was poor last season and will get worse. Hull City are below standard, Portsmouth are selling anything that isn't nailed down, Wolves are trying to put a team together, Birmingham likewise. Wigan are at risk, Bolton will be dull, Stoke need Delap's shoulders insured and I have to say Rovers need a good striker and a better midfielder or it will be a grind. No reason why Burnley can't finish outside the bottom three. Coyley will have them attacking which means they will take some beatings but also win unexpected games. The only unknown is how he handles being in the bottom half of a table...he has never faced that before. My feeling is he will just go for it all of the time. Not heard that one. What do they feed them in Austria anyway?

In the event that he did flop, we would still be able to compensate for that loss. According to Swedish tv last night Salzburg has ended interest in Ivan Obolo who plays for AIK, it could mean that interest in Janko has fallen from Rovers and other clubs.
waggy Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 i think bumley will do well to survive a season in the premier, but there are at least 10 teams that will be fighting relagation this season,by the way eckersley a bloody good player, and cannot believe he is not on our radar

We have been desperate for a decent central midfielder for years - this season if we get 10 games between Reid and Dunn we will be lucky. Surely Allardyce can't be so one dimensional that he is blinded to looking exclusively at strikers - is it not possible for him to realise we are equally desperate for both?

I think right now Big Sam doesn't want to complicate things. We've lost Roque and Derbyshire, so fresh firepower is our first priority. When that's taken care of, then we can look at consolidating the midfield.

My feeling is he will just go for it all of the time. What I would give to have him be our manager. (Flame me all you like, that's a completely honest statement.) I hear the club shop has ordered in 20,000 neck braces for the coming season, looking up the better part of 90 minutes can cause damage.
