BuckyRover Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I wonder if that was Sam making a point to JW, that we have had we have had to resort to playing our reserve goalkeeper up front.
rovers1995 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Not heard from Nicko recently. Is something going on? Hopefully there will be an 11 o'clocker tonight.
mark1875 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I wonder if that was Sam making a point to JW, that we have had we have had to resort to playing our reserve goalkeeper up front. according to sky sports, he had used all of his substitutes except brown, Then treacy got hurt and he threw on the only sub we had left. Cant see that being planned
The Rover of Finland Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Not heard from Nicko recently. Is something going on? Hopefully there will be an 11 o'clocker tonight. Maybe Nicko was at the match. He did mention he´d like to see Vieri on action. Wasn´t he suppose to play?
Fife Rover Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Quick question here, No Nicko, you cant answer this one!! As a player what did Rioch do which had never happened before and as far as I am aware, has not happened since!!! ?? That's an easy one. He went up for a header with his mouth wide open and swallowed the ball.
Backroom Tom Posted July 14, 2009 Backroom Posted July 14, 2009 Vieri was never going to play he meets up with the squad on the continent on thursday
mark1875 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Maybe Nicko was at the match. He did mention he´d like to see Vieri on action. Wasn´t he suppose to play? No Vieri will be linking up with the rest of squad again on thursday
The Rover of Finland Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 No Vieri will be linking up with the rest of squad again on thursday OK, thanks. Nice to see if he is any good these days.
Rover down South Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I'd be livid if it was Zamora Bluesue. He is utter ____. I'd rather we resign Kuqi than that plank. I honestly don't see why anyone above the level of Barnet or Grimsby would want him ever playing for them. He has been poop since that 1 good season at the seaside gay boys when he was about 20. He's the Alan Fettis of Premier League strikers. Bit harsh Billy, not everyone in Brighton is gay, small percentage in fact! Brightons new striker's Are Burnley selling bikini's!!!! Sorry to go off topic.
saxo1man30 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 bloody hell. for once i come on to await big news and nicko goes awol!
Kelbo Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 That's an easy one. He went up for a header with his mouth wide open and swallowed the ball. Now if Fife means you are Scottish, you should know this one!! The only Englishman ever to captain Scotland!!
Darwen End Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Nicko, any news one Naughton situation? Have Spurs pipped Everton on that one?
nicko Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 No 11 o'clocker as such...can't get a second confirmation on the Rovers striker target...I know Sam has ONE guy now in mind...but need to have the name confirmed by another source before I can go with it. Not an awful lot going on...the Sheff U lads have both been at Spurs, but not signed yet. And Sunderland are talking up a major new signing [thanks to the PMers for that] who I would imagine is Bent. I hope something happens soon to get the wheel spinning. If I get the Rovers name from someone else tomorrow I will be able to go with it.
Jordanknox Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Bruce mentioned this very, very big signing in an interview with local news which went out live. The rumour up here is that its Peter Crouch :/
XLM Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Bruce mentioned this very, very big signing in an interview with local news which went out live. The rumour up here is that its Peter Crouch :/ pc is very, very tall, if that's what he means
BRFC1995 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 just to throw another name in the hat that has in no way been linked anywhere to us and just cos he plays in france and sam likes shopping there added to the fact he's 6'4" would anyone in the know of french football think that guillerme(speeling rubiishh) chap at psg is in our range price ways or completely out of our league of expectations

Mr. E Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I still don't understand why everyone and Fat Sam wants to spend most of our money on a striker. Even if we sign Eto, whose gonna provide the service? The chances that Dunn and Reid will be fit for most of the season are small, the chances that both will be back to their best is even smaller. The wings with MGP, Emerton, The new South African guy and Diouf aren't exactly top-half players either. Honestly, Roberts and Benni (with Di Santo or whoever as backup) and with the proper service will be a good enough partnership. Roberts misses sitters but he's a workhorse, and Benni can easily be our top scorer again. Neither are happy to sit on the bench and will be hungry to prove themselves again this season. What we need is a class central midfielder or a winger that creates loads of chances.

If we are going to get the ball down & play then I'd agree with you, but with Sam in charge I suspect midfield will be the last place he addresses. Another reason he won't be addressing midfield yet is that this will be the first and probably ONLY time he will have all the midfield players fit so needs to assess them. He has to address the forward line as he only has two mainline strikers.
den Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I still don't understand why everyone and Fat Sam wants to spend most of our money on a striker. Even if we sign Eto, whose gonna provide the service? Well we do need a midfielder, but more so we need two strikers and they cost serious money. I can understand why he's going the way he is, why can't you Mr.E?
Miker Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 We have plenty of midfielders and realistically only 3 strikers at the moment. I'm pretty sure Sam wants to assess the midfielders we have that were unfit last season before rushing into any new midfield signings, in the meantime, strikers ARE the priority.
