Ewood and I Would Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Find the Downing story odd. How does he pass a medical? The same way RSC passed one at Man City and Ronaldo passed his at Madrid despite both carrying injuries/healing at the time of the their transfers.
Taggart Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Nicko - How does the Downing deal leave Young? Available to move or not? Id say that the fact Nicko says Major, wouldnt be relevant to any of the 2 names you mentioned - or at least im hoping it isnt!! We could be about to break the bank and completely smash our transfer record for Crouchy, or even be pitching for Bent - they would both fit int he "major" bracket, if that ws what Nicko even meant at all, by major - we could all be reading too much in to his use of language you know

A bit like story that would shock the world of football (or something to that effect), which turned out to be a Championship goalie having taken some cough medicine.
tonyoz Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 "When you sit in Row Z and the ball hit's your head, that's Zamora..." Brilliant! (for people of a certain generation!)
47er Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I'm terrified that it's Benjani or Davies. I think if it's not either of those two I'll be relieved and therefore probably quite content. Isn't it a foreign striker? Sam said that he was focussing his search abroad a day or two ago because England was too expensive and LT confirms that today. Mind you Jones is Welsh!

Kenwyne is from Trinidad and tobago or somewhere like that
T4E Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Which Jones? Kenwyne is from Trinidad and tobago or somewhere like that He meant Tom.
gumboots Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 He meant Tom. No wonder none of us guessed the identity of our new big signing
Taggart Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Which Jones? Kenwyne is from Trinidad and tobago or somewhere like that Or was it Bridget ? BFS also said in his interview, that if any home based players became available, then he would be interested and would check price/wages etc
den Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Reading Sam's comments in the LT, where he's saying progress has been made, - could that mean that we've had a bid for Crouch accepted? My thinking behind it, is that he also said that Crouch would be welcome, as long as the overall package wasn't too expensive.
Hughesy Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Could this be one of the targets? SSN - 13.05 Atletico Madrid striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle has hinted that he could consider joining Marseille, but insists he has yet to be contacted by the French club.

jrabrfc Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Crouch in talks with Sunderland according to the BBC - does that make Jones available?
gumboots Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 all i wanted to know if it was a new target thats all, oh well i am sure we will find out soon! There used to be a rule when our kids were little. Ask once only. You'll get one of 3 answers yes, no or we'll see. we'll see meant that we would consider whatever it was they had asked for. Every time after that that you asked the same question brought the we'll see closer to the no than the yes. Kids soon learnt that we would make up our minds fairly and pestering was likely to deprive them of what they wanted. If we had to say no we always explained why.

gumboots Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 That has actually made me laugh out loud - boy I think we have too much time on our hands ! I have. I'm free - no class to teach but all the jobs I actually need to do I need to be in my room for and someone else is teaching in my room so i can't do them!
philipl Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 can someone , who is a little less sceptical than me explain why vieri is being given the time to get fit whilst RVN has been discounted by sam for not being fit until september? in sams own words vieri is way behind the rest of the squad in terms of fitness , and seeing as though he is 36 logic suggests he may take him longer to get fit than a younger player , vieri may not be ready until september either then! i understand the financial package will be different between the 2 players , but sams comments seem to be aimed directly at RVN fitness not salary if we sign di santo on loan as nicko is confident, we'll have him , roberts mccarthy and probably gallacher as strikers for the first 6-8 games , surley that would be enough if RVN was waiting in the wings as he bulids up match fitness RvN is one hoof away from the knacker's yard apparently. He is as likely to be fit for next season as Shergar. Then he is on £120k a week for hay and carrots.

Torgeir Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 What about Jo? If City are buying Adebayor then surely he's on his way out. I know Everton were interested in loaning him again, and there might be work permit problems but he would be a good addition Imo.
