nicknj72 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 If we still had Bentley this signing would make more sense to me. Is it unfeasable that you could loan him back? By all accounts, now that we have Downing, i can't see Villa going for him, so who else? World Cup year and all that. Would you guys want Bentley back for a season?

saxo1man30 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I'd take Bentley back in a flash. i think after his `clubbing` in london the other night, homely boring lancashire will suddenly seem all the more appealing again. a house in the quiet picturesque ribble valley would be a good place for a young couple expecting a newborn to be living. i would not rule out a return for bentley, considering spurs still likely owe money from that deal. something has stopped the villa deal happening, is it the man himself?
nicknj72 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Well if nobody comes in for him and he isn't gonna get anywhere under Redknapp, i don't see why he wouldn't. If he's performing regularly somewhere, and playing well, perhaps Capello would include him in the squad. Stranger things have happened. Must admit, i would have liked him at the Villa, but....well, who knows what goes through Martin's mind !!! haha
joey_big_nose Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I think most fans would take him back, but i can't see him being open to such a move. It could happen if he is still on the Spurs books come the end of August. Possible as I am not sure who out there would meet Spur's exhorbitant asking price now Villa have got Downing. CIty have bigger and better targets, everyone else is skint apart from Sunderland. Maybe Everton could fancy it?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I think the only thing holding Bentley back is his pride.
Backroom Tom Posted July 15, 2009 Backroom Posted July 15, 2009 As a thought, Hoillett looks real fast, he could work well playing off someone like Zigic or di Santo who should be winning all headers. Still no official announcement on Hoillett though

jamiebrfc Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I'm not even sure this tale will get much in the papers tomorrow, with the Open and the cricket, but for what it's worth... As far as I know the number one target is now Nikola Zigic...Sam has been looking at him for a while and he is the most available striker in the price range. He is the man most likely to arrive as we speak and I believe something will move shortly. Plays for Valencia, who don't want him but are trying to create an auction. Giant Serb, possibly improving with age. Possibly not. Can't say I'm a fan, but it's not down to me. The only other name getting a serious mention right now is Kenwyne Jones, But I think if Zigic's price is right - in the £6 to 7 million range - that he should be on his way soon. Feel free to throw rotten fruit at this stage if you wish. And before anyone asks that was the 11 o'clocker. Burnley fans will already be aware of the Ecuadorian. In a small snippet elsewhere Danny Simpson, once briefly of this parish, is talking to Ipswich about a full-time move from Man U. Not agreed terms yet. Which Ecuadorian is this? Have I missed something?
nicknj72 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I think the only thing holding Bentley back is his pride. I'd rather lose pride than gain spinters from the subs bench
Backroom Tom Posted July 15, 2009 Backroom Posted July 15, 2009 I think his ego craves bigger things than Rovers these days. Don't forget he came with an ego the first time, would love him back myself
nicknj72 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 downing is left sided, bentley right sided. maybe the villa deal will still happen for bentley after ashley young gets sold for 20 odd million to chelsea or somewhere..? well this is one of the things in discussion on the Villa forums, but it "appears" that Young is going no-where. I think MON will play him in a free'er role, closer to big JC. Anything can happen in football though, and i'm not gonna log on the Villa forums if he does go, cos it will be mayhem !!!!
Guest bluesue Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Zigic reminds me of yang Changpeng http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1004~913467,00.html
tomphil Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Don't forget he came with an ego the first time, would love him back myself True but he had to put that to one side and knuckle down to hard work to establish himself at Ewood, would he be prepared to do that again i very much doubt it with his partying in london, millions in the bank and his beach bar abroad. Dont get me wrong id love to have him back as he was, just not much faith in him anymore.
nicko Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 Which Ecuadorian is this? Have I missed something? Fernando Guerrero. Speedy Gonzalez's wee brother.
Fraserkirky Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Zigic for 6m is a good deal, target man check, with Di Santo for back-up. Surely we need to focus on some pace now or a goalscoring midfielder. Should have a decent wad left over as well.
Hi Mack Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Regarding Zigic..... I think some people should have a reality check! Zigic is a very good option, especially for a club like Blackburn. I think some people are still in 95. Can anyone seriously say they have seen Zigic play? Ive seen him on a few occasions....granted he didnt get much of a chance at Valencia but who is ahead of him? David Villa......possibly the No1 striker in Europe. Who do people realistically think we can get? In a nut shell hes better than Jones and for the cash being talked about hes a better option than Crouch and Bent!
Hi Mack Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 2mins 40seconds.........boom 3mins 35 seconds...........How good is that header?
modes98 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I really wouldn't mind Zigic. Decent player, no world beater but at these prices it is difficult to get better.
