The 'deal' is that he is coming for first-team football, so it is a valid point.

Hopefully the plan is to play two up front...

I can think of someone else who would take Di Santo in a heart beat.

When will rovers get a decision on Di Santo, Nicko? Soon, I would have hoped.

It cannot be in the agreement. Chesea cannot legally affect our starting line up. What if he doesn't perform? They can't have any say in the matter. All that it means is that we would have said we intend on paying him. That's where it stops.

Correct me if i'm wrong but unless we actually pay a fee to take him on loan then Chelsea could recall him if he isn't getting enough games from Chelsea's perspective. By the sounds of it we are taking him on for free but will be paying his wages.

This is very interesting indeed...wonder if this will change anything...

I don't think a club can recall a player from a season-long loan, which is why it is important for both sides to be comfortable with the agreement before it starts.

Whats the gist of the French article?

Tottenham are looking at signing Negredo for between 18-20 million Euros as Real Madrid want to sell loads of players to make up for the amount of money they have spent.

For the non french speakers Real Madrid's young froward Negredo could very soon be on the move to Spursaccording to spanish radio CadenaThis would be the first of 7 or 8 transfers out that perez wants to pay for the signings ofRonaldo, kaka or BenzemaSpanish radio says spurs are pepaed to pay18 -20 million euros for him (he was on loan at almeriawhere he scored 19 goals last seasson) The deal could be done within 48 hours The Spaniard is currentlytraining near dublin with Real

I posted the Negredo thing in the Other PL transfer thread earlier, it would seem to be all over spud sites as the kid in my office tells me. It is him they want not Huntelaar.

Also said Young will be there's too with players going the other way

If Bent went there as part of any deal could we be looking at one of Villa's strikers then?

If Sunderland sign Bellamy and Spurs sign Negredo, I think we'll end up with Jones.

That will leave Spuds with an extra striker that nobody wants. Bent! I think we would look to take him above Jones.

Nicko, any truth in the Bellamy to Sunderland links...maybe they've given in with Bent?

I am told there is nothing in that one...he is on a fortune.

have rovers made a bid for a striker yet?

Just to try and tidy up some of the potential alternatives to Zigic...

NEGREDO...Real want £16 million or more...sheesh...too much...if Spurs are signing him - and that figure sounds rich to me - it would mean Bent to Sunderland.

JONES...Spurs are unlikely to do that one...but he could be available soon...THAT might give Rovers time to adjust.

BENT...£16 million?...he just is not on the Rovers radar.

CROUCH...£12 million plus wages...far too much.

I've been reading a lot of the comments on this board regarding Jones. I won't get into my disagreement with most of what has been said because as a Sunderland supporter I probably have opinions on Blackburn players a lot of you would think are strange.....given a few snippets and the odd match per season is al I see.

I don't doubt that nicko might have some insider info on this transfer but the feeling at Sunderland seems very much to be that he's staying. Bruce said he wants four strikers to choose from, Jones said he's definitely staying and by all accunts Quinny thinks the world of him. We (according to the club) rebuffed a £20million bid for him from Spurs in January and reports on our boards have suggested our reluctance to do the Bent deal is because we won't part with Jones. A lad who knows Darren Bent on a personal level on one of our forums reckons he's now off to Villa anyway.

Signing Crouch does not necessarily mean Jones is on his way, that's just an easy assumption because they're both tall.....they're completely different players.

Crouch/Jones/Campbell and another is what I'm hoping/expecting to see at the Stadium of light next season as out attacking options.

I don't have any sources or insider info but I like to think I'm capable or reaidng between the lines of what's written in tabloids and on the internet and getting a pretty good jist of what's happening.

Hello, by the way.....it's been nice reading your views from a distance and though't I'd throw my opinion into the mix.

Anyone else rather we went for more def cover.. rather than a midfielder (presuming cash left over from striker purchase)...

I just think looking at our defence, we are very short:

DEF: 8-9 players (inc 2 youngsters) for 4 places

MID: 14-15 players for 4-5 places

AT: 5-6 players for 1-2 places

If Zurab is staying then we're fine. We would we need more than 8 or 9? We're not in Europe.

i agree 100% with you nelsen. sunderland are trying to build something big and have the money that means they don`t have to sell. besides, you can keep him for me, i`d be very upset to pay 10m for kenwyne jones. the new didier drogba? totally laughable on the occasions i`ve seen him.
