LeftWinger Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Emerson seems like a disappointment to me..... I think Samba is effective....wouldn't go as far as good. Perfect for FSA though! Not sure who Emerson is - but Samba is quality! Wash your mouth out boy!

vintageadidas Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Mokoena was the worst player i have seen in a Rovers shirt for a long time! Sooooo glad he has left the club. Nice chap and a trier but an awful player in defence and midfield. He looked out of his depth against Blyth and i am not joking! ZIGIC - He does one thing well, puts the ball in the back of the net. He is not an all round striker so some fans will not like him, but as long as he is scoring i would be happy!
Hughesy Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Why did you guys let Derbyshire go? Good impact player, however he wanted 1st team football and at premier league level it is something we couldnt offer him. I think Samba is effective....wouldn't go as far as good. Ha ha - You know that guy Crouch your about to splash £12m on? He had him in his pocket Seriously though...Samba is quality and will only get better. Better still he cost us 200k!
LeftWinger Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Ha ha - You know that guy Crouch your about to splash £12m on? He had him in his pocket Ha Ha - bad example. Would that be away from home when Crouch scored or at home when Samba was upfront?
Nelson! Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Not sure who Emerson is - but Samba is quality! Wash your mouth out boy! Emerton...sorry....'working' while I type. As I said, my views are bound to differ to yours through not seeing them regularly.....seems that's the case with Samba and Mokeona. Why did Derbyshire go though?...was he as good as I thought?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Emerson seems like a disappointment to me.....but probably only because he was expected to be a mega-star when he arrived and he's ended up a solid premiership player. Emerton, you berk. He looked like a world beater when he arrived but he's matured into a reliable and solid player. Probably our most versatile and valuable player actually. I think Samba is effective....wouldn't go as far as good. Perfect for FSA though! Samba is a great defender and is still young. Top 4 will be after him in a season or 2 I fear. Not seen enough of Givet to offer an opinion. A steal at 3m odd. Solid, reliable and consistently brilliant in his tackling. What's McCarthy been like? We were linked with him last summer and he seemed keen but we got Cisse instead. My opinion would be something along the lines of "bags of talent, can't be arsed to apply it." You got that right. Nicko, Beckham seems to want a return to England. City have the cash but I don't think he would play as much as he'd like. Plus, it's City. He says he'll find it difficult to play against United, imagine how hard it'd be to play for their rivals! I don't suppose Big Boned Sam fancies his chances? I can't see him going to anyone in the Premiership really. A United comeback is probably impossible...
tcj_jones Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 ---------------Zigic Pedersen---McCarthy----Diouf/Van Heerden --------Warnock---Emerton Givet---Nelsen---Samba--Jackobsen -------------Robinson Sorry Joey, but I cannot agree with that starting line up. First, you are omitting arguably our best player in David Dunn. Second, Emerton has been moved from his best position as RB and is replaced by somebody who I don't think anybody really expects to be more than a back up. Also, I just don't see the midfield as being especially realistic; we have Dunn, Reid, Grella, Andrews and N'Zonzi who all play there, the latter only just being brought it, and yet none of them would be featuring? I think our best starting X1 would be: Robinson Emerton / Nelsen / Samba / Warnock Diouf / Grella or N'Zonzi / Dunn / Pedersen McCarthy Zigic Hello, by the way.....it's been nice reading your views from a distance and though't I'd throw my opinion into the mix. Nice to have you on the board, Nelson. We have a few fans from other clubs who frequent this board and who contribute often and engage in measured and largely unbiased discussion. However, it is a far more frequent occurence that they come on here looking to antagonize or simply to take advantage of Nicko's knowledge. In that respect, you're a breath of fresh air. Hopefully you'll continue to post.
BRFC1995 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 At only 28 - on loan - Alan Smith is worth the risk of us taking out a loan surely??! there is absolutely no where for him to play, he would'nt get a game so what would be the point........he's not even good enough to dislodge grella and his goalscoring record proves he's not a striker............his signing would psychologigically be devastating from the point of view of this club ever having any ambitions and in the eyes of every other football supporter especially barcodes supporters make us a laughing stock.
Hughesy Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 in the eyes of every other football supporter especially barcodes supporters make us a laughing stock. Signing an ex- Man United midfielder who is just 28 will do that?! Despite only playing 7 games last season and therefore not having much chance to shine for BIG club Newcastle? As for Newcastle Seriously laughing stock? I think that refers to them.
LeftWinger Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Why did Derbyshire go though?...was he as good as I thought? Derbyshire is a good finisher, but too light-weight to be a Premiership regular. Did seem to get shunted out on the wing a bit too much. Very rarely made an impact starting games. He's nippy but I wouldn't say he was fast.
gazsimm Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 zigic does not want to come to Blackburn according to reports, who's next on big sam's list Jones?

That's pretty interesting......I'd been wonderng if you're about to spend 8-10 million on a 'big-man' when he might have done the job! ooops. I also didn't realise Samba was a young lad, is he decent on the ball? Whenever I've seen him he's just looked like a massive wall and nowt else. A few years back I'd have been thrilled at the prospect of signing MGP, seems to have fizzled out a little now...unfair?

Denis_B Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Have heard bits of chatter that O'Neill is interested in Warnock and would be prepared to offer Shorey as a make weight. Any news on that front? One way of getting in some money without losing players?
LeftWinger Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 A few years back I'd have been thrilled at the prospect of signing MGP, seems to have fizzled out a little now...unfair? Far from unfair. He's been below average for about 3 years. I think his goals and assists used to mask his short-comings. The goals have really dried up, and he gets a lot of stick nowadays. Hard-worker, but slow and can't beat a man.
tcj_jones Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Gaz, got a link for that? I do seem to remember him saying that he'd prefer to stay in Spain and, in particular, at the club he went on loan to last season (I forget who they are).
nicko Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 zigic does not want to come to Blackburn according to reports, who's next on big sam's list Jones? Eh?

Agreed..."According to reports" <---give us an url. (edit: local radio it is ) Real Zaragoza I believe.
nicko Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 sky sports are running the story i think, and it has just been on the local radio Someone claiming to be his agent says the player hasn't heard yet...if he is his agent...and there's a '15-club alert' in the guy's story.
alexanders Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 "He has always said would be interested in a move to England and if he was to go there it would have to be the right club that understands his characteristics." The Serbian is keen to secure a move away from La Mestalla with England thought to be his preferred destination COME AND GET ME BLACKBURN ROVERS I WANNA PLAY PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL !
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Interesting, thought he would really want to come to the premier league, he has the physique for it.
gazsimm Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Someone claiming to be his agent says the player hasn't heard yet...if he is his agent...and there's a '15-club alert' in the guy's story. i think they are going to be bigger clubs in for him, his agent is just using us to get him a move to a big club!
alexanders Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 i think they are going to be bigger clubs in for him, his agent is just using us to get a move to big club! Don't think so. He has been on sale for a decade. I think we have a very good chance of getting him. Actually I am so sure he will end up a Rovers player that I am going to buy the new home strip with Zigic on
LeftWinger Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Actually I am so sure he will end up a Rovers player that I am going to buy the new home strip with Zigic on Why not go the whole hog and get his names tattooed on your chest like that City fan who has Kaka tattoed on him
