Not to p*** on the parade here, but friendlies mean absolutely nothing.

Do you actually expect to see Judge, Doran, Gallagher, N'zonzi or Olsson playing more than the odd game next season? If we're looking to play free-flowing football then why does any potential striker have to be 6'2" or above...?

If we play anything other than long, direct, unwatchable Allardyce-trademark football at the start of the season then I'll re-evaluate my beliefs. Until then I'll just keep looking forward to our next manager, and the chance to be excited and entertained.

I fully expect lots of games from Nzonza, I think, dependent on how he figures when he arrives, lots of games from Hoilett too, certainly Judge and Doran will feature from the bench I think or even Van Heerden and Di Santo will have to feature at least from the bench, I cannot see playing a system in pre season we will not use, remember Macclesfield last year when the team lacked direction and struggled, were walloped in Austria by micky mouse teams!!

There is certainly an appetite in the squad, they look quicker already and we havent really started pre season yet!!

We will for sure, see a much fitter and committed team than we had under Ince and I know from player comments, they are much happier under Sam Allardyce, they trust him and believe in what he is doing!! that is so important!

I bet your glass is always half empty

last season was about survival, as was Hughesy first season when we had1 up front at home

This season the manager has a full pre season and his team, judge 10 games in

I dont think this will prove to be the same situation as when Hughes adapted his football once survival had been achieved. Survival or not I think it would be niave to expect anything other than Allardyce's trademark ugly and cynical football next season.

If we got beat 8-0 i bet you'd have something to say then!

I will - like I said I would.

Until the season begins however, given Allardyce's track record, I see no reason whatsoever to believe that he will be changing his "tried and tested" (*shudder*) method of negative, ugly anti-football.

EDIT: I should add, by the way, that last night wasn't "Allardyce's team" - it was missing a VERY tall striker, whoever he may be...

I would say there is a decent chance of one of them breaking through to the sort of level Derbs was at (regular sub). I would say we have a better crop of young players now than at any point since around 2000-2002. Just my opinion.

i would'nt expect ollson to be anywhere close to the first team, always just looks a callamity waiting to happen..........i don't see why n'zonzi would'nt start quite a few as its a pretty low standard of competition for a place and if doran can step up a bit i'd imagine he'd be right up in the managers thoughts. I'd prefer the frontman was over 6'2" then pedersens new found long throw will be a real weopon

Are we really resorting to becoming Stoke 2.0...? I suppose we are. So depressing. :(

On N'zonzi - The guy came from a team relegated to the French Third Division. We may have limited options in the middle of the park, but this guy and Keith Andrews could easily have been a League Two midfield.

In deciding between Sunderland and Rovers, this is pretty important:

15 Blackburn Rovers 38 10 11 17 40 60 −20 41

16 Sunderland 38 9 9 20 34 54 −20 36

Sunderland were only safe after 38 games and had a shed load spent on them last summer and the summer before.

Yes, they've got a load of money again this year and thus far have got priced out of Darren Bent, are competing with a Europa League club in London for Peter Crouch but have managed to sign... Fraizer Campbell who was such a rip roaring success at Spuds.

Its far from a slam dunk that any player would prefer Wearside over the Ribble Valley even if Steve Bruce has gazillions to spend.

Yeah, Spency you're right. I mean what the hell have Stuart Pearce, Kevin Phillips and Ian Wright ever do with their careers?

Who needs to actually bother watching these guys when we all know they will be ___ because they have never played for Real Madrid.

yes, anything in this do we know gents???

Blackburn are ready to splash £2.5m on Rapid Vienna forward Erwin Hoffer as a replacement for Roque Santa Cruz.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...ant-refuse.html

Hoffer certainly seems like he would be an excellent signing as he is young and relatively inexpensive compared with other strikers Rovers have been looking at.

Hold up, I'm not saying he won't become a good player - he's only 20 - but I don't expect it to happen this season.

Ignore the facts if you want sir, but that's simply an accurate statement - Andrews and N'Zonzi came from the lower leagues.

on a different note.....

My mates just got back from Italy and was told (off a few Rovers staff) that Vieri wont be getting

a deal as he is miles away from fitness and Ricky Sbragia will be joining the backroom staff in the

very near future....................Gues that explains Vieris absence last night!

So did Teddy Sheringham, Ian Wright, Andy Cole, to mention a few.

But of course they didnt do well.

The fact is everyone has to start from somewere, Not everyone was born with a silver spoon in their mouth!

Dont shoot the messenger!

Just been informed it was Keith Treacy who infact told my mate!

I have read in many places that he was getting an extended trial so it was a shock to me!

Keiths comments might be just like his football though.........................Just wrong!

Ah but Spencey7 matey there's a difference between stating correct facts and drawing incorrect conclusions ;) a dog has four legs, a table has four legs therefore a dog is a table.

Who cares if these guys came from Mars or slept with mermaids, what's important is what they do from here on forward, they've done enough to get to the starting gate so let's wait and see. Their performance for us certainly won't be helped by getting on their back saying they're not good enough. They're here, so support them, simples :rover:

Right I've found the full interview in the Equipe. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2009/...52_chamakh.html For those who need the translation he says " I'm definitely leaving. Even if the trainer and management have said they want me to stay. At the moment there's things going on with Suderland and Blackburn, where I could already have gone becasue I've got an agreement with them, even if my chairman doesn't see what the heck I'd go there for. It's going slowly becasue it's my first transfer. I don't want to make a mistake. I'm still thinking,; it's my decision." Talks with Arsenal are less advanced. "That's dreamland. If it comes off with them, so much the better, but if not then it doesn't matter. It wouldn't bother me to go to Sunderland or Blackburn." Juventus, Fulham and Tottenham have also been linked and the player hopes that his current team won't make things awkward for him by asking a big fee or trying to do a swap deal

Nicko - heard anything about this guy being linked with us?

Anyone know when this interview was done?

Spencey is a dingle.

Have a look at Nzonzi's record, still very young, the year before last made one first team appearance as a 17 year old, last season, he began on the subs bench made an impact and became a reguar at a young age, the boy has shown progression and has talent, to perform to the standard he did in a relegation sideis credit to the lad.

Ask any scout and they will pick a lad who stands out in a poor side, you need to have something about you to do that, the matal to keep going regardless!!

Thats why its always easier to blood youngsters in a successful team!!

Which I will do. Unfortunately I've seen Keith Andrews outclassed often enough to know that he will never be an asset at this level. I hope N'zonzi turns out to be an incredible signing, but it also won't help him to have fans expect him to do the business this season. I'm not saying for one second that he's not good enough and never will be, but to give him time.

And Hughesy - Nicko is busy today as he indicated earlier, I'm sure he'll let everyone know when he's back on the boards.

I thought Vieri was joining up with the lads for next match - and I am a bit surprised if this is true, as it makes BFS and Warny look like idiots after praising him after his first run out, and then he hasn`t even been with them until he joins them tomorrow ? Very strange indeed, i think I will side wiht BFS and Warny`s comments for now, rather than through a mate of a mates goldfish (no offense)

If Sam continues to get the same results as last season you may have a long wait for that next manager. As long as he keeps the club in the Premiership he'll be here for as long as he wants. Premiership survival is far more important to the future of the club than fancy, attractive football. The reason he was appointed by John Williams was because the club needed someone who could maintain top flight football on a shoestring budget. Sam has shown that he is able to do that.
