In deciding between Sunderland and Rovers, this is pretty important:

15 Blackburn Rovers 38 10 11 17 40 60 −20 41

16 Sunderland 38 9 9 20 34 54 −20 36

Sunderland were only safe after 38 games and had a shed load spent on them last summer and the summer before.

Yes, they've got a load of money again this year and thus far have got priced out of Darren Bent, are competing with a Europa League club in London for Peter Crouch but have managed to sign... Fraizer Campbell who was such a rip roaring success at Spuds.

Its far from a slam dunk that any player would prefer Wearside over the Ribble Valley even if Steve Bruce has gazillions to spend.

Well thats it sorted, he'll sign for us then..

He'll be dunking his way all the way to Ewood, after all, what idiot would sign for a team who finished 16th last season? I also bet he's well aware they weren't safe until the last day. I even bet he was nervously watching, wondering if he'd see a pig fly over the Stadium of Light with a cure for cancer in its gob as the Black Cats hung on waiting to see if both Hull and Newcastle pulled around defecits and won their first games in about six months..

You forgot to mention the fact we won the league in 1995, I mean what chance do Sunderland have?? Other than the fact they will offer about £20,000 a week more...

I thought Vieri was joining up with the lads for next match - and I am a bit surprised if this is true, as it makes BFS and Warny look like idiots after praising him after his first run out, and then he hasn`t even been with them until he joins them tomorrow ? Very strange indeed, i think I will side wiht BFS and Warny`s comments for now, rather than through a mate of a mates goldfish (no offense)

your right mate Vieri was never going to play last night because he hadnt even linked up with the lads at that point, regardless of what keith treacy might of told mr a who told the same to mr b and so on

To an extent I can understand someone who is coming from abroad preferring to live in London/Birmingham/Manchester as they're big cities that they're certain to have heard of......but when British lads seem concerned about moving a few hundred miles up the road I think it says an awful lot about the desire of the player. Seemingly Bent would rather stay in London and sit on the bench than come up north and play football. Crouch is probably awaiting interest from Spurs/Fulham.

Weak minded individuals. Pussywhipped imo.

Woah! I wasn't trying to come accross like we're a bigger club at all....I was just curious as to why you seemed to make a massive profit on a player but your expected out lay is way less. I don't know anything about your board/directors and wasn't aware that they're trying to balance the books.

Bloody obvious. Football is a business and proper 'investors' need a return. Otherwise the term 'investors' is simply a euphanism for donors. Have you never stopped to wonder what your 'investors' are doing it all for Nelson?

Press jumping the gun a bit surely with the Vieiri potentially signing reports. Spoken to a few people who follow Italian football and they cannot believe we have even taken him on trial....

Nicko - heard anything about this guy being linked with us?

Anyone know when this interview was done?

Spencey is a dingle.

article in L'Equipe is dated today and quotes an earlier interview but says that before Bordeaux leave for Canada in a week's time they should have this sorted.

I told you at the end of the season that Chamakh wanted out and wanted to come to England. He'd told them in no uncetain terms that he wanted to leave, but at that time the only club I'd heard linked was West Ham.

Gumboots....Being a fellow clitheroeite i know your info will be good!

Do you think there is any chance we could get Chamakh?

I saw quite a bit of Shakhtar last season (last ever UEFA Cup winners) but cannot remember seeing the guy we are linked with. He only got 19 games with them but he had been highly prolific with Dynamo Kiev in the two seasons before he moved to Shakhtar in 2008.

My (admittedly tenuous) grapevine says Crouch would much prefer Fulham over Sunderland and the prospect of European football and not upsetting his attractive WAG for whom modelling assignments in Peterlee and celebrity photo shoots in Monkwearmouth are not exactly filling her diary. Spurs is a long shot depending on Sunderland (them again) upping their offer for Bent by £4m which they are hardly likely to do knowing it would lesson the chances of getting Crouch themselves.

As for Chamakh, will he want to go to a club with money but incapable of signing the players they want? Of course the Sunderland pay cheque will be attractive so Sunderland would have to be favourites to get him, but I wouldn't rule us out of that race. I believe Brockhall is vastly better to Sunderland's facilities unless they have been investing recently.

I have met both Bruce and Allardyce and found Bruce a signally unpleasant individual whereas Sam was always great to chat to. Apart from that, I'd back Sam's managerial abilities over Bruce's unhesitatingly.

Finally, some really good news- the Dave Fevre to City story has been debunked.

I'd like to see us go for Victor Moses - bags of pace and raw talent, could be a bargain at circa 5million. Id like to think we could offer more than Wigan to him aswell.

shame I doubt we will!

Just caught up after 10 hours away from the messageboard :o How have I survived without anything happening again I will never know.

Anyway, a couple of things: -

I wouldn't go for Moses. It'll all end in tears when he leaves us for a bigger club like Sunderland. It won't be a pleasant parting of the waves.

Spencey - two questions. Are you seven? Are you a Rovers fan? Either way I bet you've been happy with the weather today.

Sunderland's facilities are up there with the best in Europe, dont know how good Blackburns are but SAFC spent a lot of money on the academy of light and it is top class.

Hilarious but probably oh so true in the end!

Crouch won't go to Sunderland, its too far north. He'll get frostbite as soon as he hits the A1 North. And we all know what the social scene in the NE is like...his lovely WAG won't enjoy spending long dark winter evenings talking to owd chaps down the Miners Social about the finer points of whippet racing and flat cap frizbee competitions on Whitley Bay beach. I suspect he's another soft arsed southerner who thinks all intelligent life ends north of Watford and that we still eat our dead oop North. I once went down south and they couldn't believe I put gravy on chips. Heathens !

He'll go to Spuds or Fulham, because thats what will keep his lovely golddigg.....sorry, girlfriend, happy.

By the way, what would Peter Crouch have been if he wasn't a footballer ? A virgin !

Anyway, onto the ever continuing saga of Blackburn Rovers and the incredible shrinking transfer kitty.........

I am slightly drunk and slightly fed up and slightly feeing ill. It could be Swine Flu......
