LeftWinger Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 ...if Arsenal were serious about him then you have to trust Whinger's judgement, the last time they spent £10m on a striker from the french league, it was Adebayor Wenger did also spend a fortune on Francis Jeffers though

hi-jaq Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Wenger did also spend a fortune on Francis Jeffers though Thats a very good point... Didn't Whinger say he was the "FOX IN THE BOX"??? Didn't look like that in a Rovers shirt anyway ... Allthough I did say from the French league, Jeffers was from Everton was he not???
ultrablue Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Lee in talks with Bolton I've watched this guy for a while now and he is certainly a step above his teammates at FC Seoul. Pacy, skillful and very hungry. Looks like Bolton have swept in and taken him - a pity because he would have given us something different on the right and at a good price.

they_think_its_all_rover Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 The Sunday Mail says Blackburn Rovers and Hull City are looking at Amadou Allasane, who is on trial at Celtic. http://www.tribalfootball.com/hull-blackbu...alassane-257993
RoverRich Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 According to the article in the LET, we are in talks with 1 or 2 other foreign strikers as well as Chamakh. Anyone know who they are? I assume 1 is Zigic but not sure about the other. Maybe Janko, maybe Hoffer? And it also says Sam will "really start kicking on" with the striker search tomorrow so hopefully we will be getting a bit more news later this week and maybe, just maybe, we will have a new striker sooner rather than later.
Oklahoma Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Maniche is going to sign for FC Köln from Germany...
Hughesy Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 hoilett injured in reserve squad http://www.rovers.co.uk/page/ReserveNews/0...1727321,00.html "Canadian starlet David Hoilett made a long-awaited appearance in the game, and the striker is now expected to feature in Saturday’s first-team friendly at Leeds United."
Backroom Tom Posted July 20, 2009 Backroom Posted July 20, 2009 Is Chamakh the fella who had a youtube vid which started with 6 or 7 horrendous misses? He looked good in the rest of it to be fair it was just a bizarrely compiled video. I have to say I know nothing of him other than that.
thenodrog Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 are these the same powers that be, that didn`t feel the need to replace bentley? they will look at the form of the team under sam at the end of last season(minus roque), and feel that it`s good enough to be safe in this league over 38 games(i agree with that). that is the only aim i think for our board now i reckon as we are considered in a state of financial limbo until a take over can happen. if you want to continue to be optimistic of our chances of spending 8m on a striker, then your perfectly entitled to be. i just beg to differ. We will get a striker, we have to basically BUT every striker / player that we have paid big money for in recent years has been average at best. Cole, Grabbi, Ferguson, Davies etc so consider that the board have seen our last manager to turn up with the likes of Bentley and Warnock for approx a million, Nelsen for zilch, RSC for 3.5m, Samba for 300k so why on earth would lead them to think that we need to spend 10m or whatever on just 1 player who without taking wages into account will lose us a whopping 2.5m (or approx half our total ST revenue) per annum in depreciation alone? Dont forget players valued at 10m expect wages in line with that and don't forget also that they get injured as much as one on low wages. Why can so few people see the issue from the boards perspective? They have kept a tiny impoverished club eating at footballs top table for a long time now (albeit based on JW's generosity) so why not put some faith in them instead of doom mongering?

I have to say I know nothing of him other than that. this guy has name dropped us twice now. i`m sure rovers must have looked at him, but maybe won`t be too pleased at him mentioning it to the world press as a means to attract arsenal`s interest, and will now look elsewhere.
alexanders Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Optimistic now; I will be very happy if we end up with either of these: Erwin "Jimmy Hoffa" Hoffer, Chamakh, Negredo, Janko or Jones.

Backroom Tom Posted July 20, 2009 Backroom Posted July 20, 2009 Hopefully something will actually move this week, things look to be picking up pace possibly

alexanders Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Sunderland step up chase for Chamakh and Cattermole 11.25 Sunderland boss Steve Bruce fears he could miss out on Wigan midfielder Lee Cattermole but has confirmed his interest in Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh. Nicko? Have you been in contact with your French sources about Chamakh and may shed any light on this situation?
Eddie Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Eddie would you give us an opinion on Chamakh? He's good. He's quick, quite strong and works hard. Technically skilled. A good player. He'd do well in England.
Hughesy Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 £200k for Fielding (hopefully a sell on clause too) - 1st team footy at Derby Suprise, Suprise - Spurs now want the Morrocan too, along with Fulham Why is it that every player we get linked too, Redknapp & Bruce always seem to get linked with too!?!
Backroom Tom Posted July 20, 2009 Backroom Posted July 20, 2009 The only surprise so far is that Moyes isn't linked with him
Hughesy Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 The only surprise so far is that Moyes isn't linked with him Oh no they claim poverty every year...They will then probably sign a £15m midfielder with a week to go before the start of the season
nicko Posted July 20, 2009 Author Posted July 20, 2009 Nicko? Have you been in contact with your French sources about Chamakh and may shed any light on this situation? Chamakh is a strange one. He has the Champions League to look forward to and yet is flirting with any club going. I thought Arsenal were favourites, but if not then he would be one who has a lot of appeal. Rovers did watch him last season, but it puzzled me at the time...maybe they had some inside info he would leave? Very strange, but a good option if he is actually available and interested and not just chasing a new contract.
alexanders Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Very strange, but a good option if he is actually available and interested and not just chasing a new contract. MIght be a good point, considering his contract runs out in 2010.

Sounds like he really wants to join this league if his comments are accurate and would be willing to discuss a deal with us. Sunderland can probably outgun us on the wages though and Spurs, well they have the London lifestyle.
Hughesy Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 MIght be a good point, considering his contract runs out in 2010. Just a 12 month deal remaining - Slap an £8m bid in and see what happens.
