Sounds like he really wants to join this league if his comments are accurate and would be willing to discuss a deal with us. Sunderland can probably outgun us on the wages though and Spurs, well they have the London lifestyle.

and can also outgun us on the wages. sounds a faint hope to be signing this guy if spurs and sunderland(money) are in the chase.

SSN reporting that Crouch wants £90k a week to join Sunderland, which it looks like they are not prepared to pay. Knock on effects ? Jones staying put ? Spuds in for Crouch ? Where does that leave us ?

How about that Pavlyuchenko (sp ?) geezer at Spurs ? Big target man, Spuds looking to strengthen up front so might become available ?

Right Guys so correct me if i'm wrong but we have a list of Strikers we want to sign, an impressive list. We now have to wait for all the premiership big teams to move first, then the also rans, then the really crap teams with money, then we get whatever rubbish is left

The inspiring thing though is that it is so money strikers looking to move this summer that we I don't think we will end up with any rubbish

have to agree. he`s just dropping our name to alert others. lancashire evening telegraph is poor these days for info it seems, they just print what the national papers do. i don`t think there`s any real `exclusive` link with the club anymore. they don`t have a clue who`s signing(if anyone) any more than you or me.

Sounds like it. Or we decide to wait until January as Sam reckons he can get a cheaper player, but we all know what will happen if the money isn't spent now...

January Transfer Window opens:

Sam: Hi John, i've come up with a striker that we can go for, he would be perfect for our system/style of play and would be in the same price bracket we talked about in the summer.

JW: Err Sam about that budget...

Sam: ****

Don't think that will happen.

According to Sam's analysis over the pre-season games in Croatia he said we need fire power up-front.

Like someone said I think we are getting som pace in finding a striker now.

We are competing with the likes of Spurs, Fulham and Sunderland.

If we don't rush things I am positive that we can get a very good striker for a decent fee.

My day is being ruined by Rovers fans with their heads in the clouds thinking that we'll beat Arsenal and Spurs to signing a player who has no reason to hold any affinity towards us. Hes already come out and said that Arsenal would be perfect for him...get the hint

that`s absolutly right too. i believe if we don`t sign someone before the end of the summer window, then that`ll be it for the season. the club have previously stated a reluctance to spend in january when they feel prices are inflated. is there ever a time they are not though?

Such a cheerful person. Dont walk under any ladders on your way home, or dont cross any roads incase you get run over will you. Nothing like having a positive outlook eh!?

Slough - THE player also came out and said he would be happy to join Rovers and already has an agreement with the club - whats your point?

Spurs are after Crouch, Arsenal are being linked to Gignac - why is it impossible for him to join rovers?

WTF?

Christian Vieri Could Still Make Blackburn Rovers Move - Sam Allardyce

Might be BS, bloody well hope it is!

<snip>

"However, Allardyce revealed that the 36-year-old's absence was expected as he told The Lancashire Telegraph, "When we assessed Christian from the Austrian trip, he was not in the right condition to consider games.

"We will weigh that up when we get back and if he wants to come and we feel it is right for the club then he could still join us for the last month."

At the end of last season Chamakh insisted he wanted to leave Bordeaux. The only club mentioned than in connection with him was West Ham. If you look back you'll find my post about it. Of course he wants to go to Arsenal - all French players given the choice would love to play there. However, this guy is a realist. It's not necessarily going to happen for him like that. However, if he gets a transfer to a premier league club where he can showcase his talents the big boys will be prepared to take a risk on him and provided we don't go all sanctimonious about being used as a stepping stone etc then there is a chance that he could come here. It will depend on a lot of factors but I don't think he's looking for a better contract at Bordeaux - he wants to try something different, and not elsewhere in France either. Looking at us, we've sold Bellamy to Liverpool, might well have sold McCarthy to chelsea and santa Cruz to City. We don't price our good players out of moves or stand in their way if one of the big boys comes in for them. That might seem bad for us but it's a selling point for our club in some ways in that many players are looking to go on in their careers as far as they can and need clubs like ours to get them that move.

chamakh`s words are clearly designed to rush arsenal into action(if they`re interested) by making them think we`ve almost signed him, when we haven`t even approached his club! he won`t sign for rovers or the deal would already be moving along. sam and the team have been away for over a week and any contact was done prior to that.

Whoever we sign will be off again next season anyway. To be honest, i'd rather we just signed Kevin Davies and got three years out of him bullying defenders around. At least every other club wouldn't be trying to sign him....

Regarding Chamakh, I don't believe for a second that he is trying to anchor for a move, I have never seen such an obvious situation where a player is lookiong for a new contract, unbelievable! The fact that he's linking himself to every club in the world makes it blatantly obvious.

Sam will struggle with further signings this summer but I do believe he will unearth something at the last minute out of nowhere so until then, there isn't really much to discuss.
