Gally Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 9 will probably be the new striker, and personally I wouldn't mind number 5 being retired for a few years.
Balwer Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 9 will probably be the new striker, and personally I wouldn't mind number 5 being retired for a few years. Seconded. Maybe if N'Zonzi stays with us and plays a bit give it to him in a year or two.

Backroom Tom Posted July 11, 2009 Backroom Posted July 11, 2009 5 shouldn't be retired in my opinion, give it N'Zonzi. Tugay was a legend but no more than some others, to retire a number is a bit daft I think in honesty.

Agreed, it should be more of an honour to a player to be handed a 'legends' number, if you REALLY want it retired for a season give it to Steven Reid!!
LeChuck Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Tugay had quite a few different numbers here, it seems a bit pointless retiring 5 when it wasn't really 'his' number. If he'd had the same number throughout his Rovers career it might have been worthwhile.
neekoy Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Tugay had quite a few different numbers here, it seems a bit pointless retiring 5 when it wasn't really 'his' number. If he'd had the same number throughout his Rovers career it might have been worthwhile. and through the rest of his career, think he played 17 at Rangers and 8 for Turkey and 20 for Gala.
mrsjansen Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Lets not forget Big Col was also number 5, It wasnt retired when he left us.
RIML Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I'm just hoping Nelsen's doesn't change as I've had the new shirt printed with his name and number 6. I'm assuming, Number 2 - Jacobsen Number 5 - Givet Number 9 - New Striker
Balwer Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 http://www.skysports.com/football/player/0..._299755,00.html Seems Jemal Johnson has taken Dunny's #8.......hmmmmmmmmmm
Iceman Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Should we retire number 15? Should hang that number up to dry
dazmaz Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 http://www.skysports.com/football/player/0..._299755,00.html Seems Jemal Johnson has taken Dunny's #8.......hmmmmmmmmmm seems we have 2 players in the number 8 on that site
Flopsy Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 http://www.skysports.com/football/player/0..._299755,00.html Seems Jemal Johnson has taken Dunny's #8.......hmmmmmmmmmm He's still with us?
LeChuck Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I'm sure I read he'd just gone back to MK Dons from somewhere...Blackpool maybe.
Blue n White Rover Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 seems we have 2 players in the number 8 on that site Dunny isn't that fat I gave up on squad numbers the day Shabani Nonda was given our number 9 shirt!
dazmaz Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Dunny isn't that fat LMAO think the last shirt i got printed with a players name was Pedersen back when he was good
Torgeir Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Tugay had quite a few different numbers here, it seems a bit pointless retiring 5 when it wasn't really 'his' number. If he'd had the same number throughout his Rovers career it might have been worthwhile. True, I remember Henning was given 5 and Tugay 4 under Souness, and Henning had to ask to swap. Tugay wasn't too bothered with what number he played with, so retiring no. 5 would be wrong.
American Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I'm sure I read he'd just gone back to MK Dons from somewhere...Blackpool maybe. Saw him come on as a late sub for Wednesday last season.
LeChuck Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Saw him come on as a late sub for Wednesday last season. I think that's Jermaine Johnson, ex-Bolton lad. Although Jemal hasn't played for Blackpool...it seems to story I read was he has signed MK Dons contract after after it had expired. Not sure where I got the Blackpool bit from.
philo Posted August 2, 2009 Author Posted August 2, 2009 keep on topic boys closer to the new season for closer until we know and can get numbers on our shirts
super_arran Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 This might give an insight to the squad number for this season. The new squad profile is up on the official site http://www.rovers.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetai...3~35336,00.html (Big Chris looks a tad on the gay side)
mellison24 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 http://www.rovers.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetai...03~9124,00.html Miserable so-and-so!!
