just been on the onerovers website to buy a programme, and they are trying to charge me £5 for p&p ... are they having a laugh?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Give Mill Hill taxis a call, I reckon they'd bring it round to yours for 3 quid max from the club shop. If you ask nicely they'll probably pick you up a crispy duck from Wok Star on the way past xmas.gif

Been down to the club shop this morning to get the 3-2 and Bring on the Clarets DVDs. Plenty left. There has been some mention of poor sound quality but mine seemed ok enough.

Cheered me up no end watching the hilarious display from the Flying Pig and also that of the weedy, old, tramplike gimp with the womens hairband that some call Alexander.

Hughesy if your out there, went into the club shop in town today having a mooch whilst my good lady was buying some christmas cards elswhere.

Told her i'd be in the rovers store, anyhow she comes in to meet me as i'm looking at the video section, I show her the dingle video, we have a look at the merchandise on the wall and then leave without purchasing anything.

My good lady turns to me and says, ''there was three staff in there and not one approached her or me to ask if we required any assistance''. All three assistants stood chatting to each other whilst people came and went, this for my wife who runs a customer service team in retail couldnt believe it that no one had bothered to approach us.

For me I was happy nobody came to me, but from a business point of view I can see her point in that no one is engaging with the customers how on earth are they going to maximise sales.

One for the kids...

This could be a good idea for the Rovers' shop (with a proper Rovers logo)

Advertised in today's LT. Custom trainers - "The Rovers" plus name embroidered.

Snazzytrainers

Might be a good present for Christmas. Presumably it doesn't break any copyright laws as they don't specifically say Blackburn Rovers but the logo is blue and white halves.

i hate being asked if i need assistance. Its a shop ffs, all i need to be able to do is pick things off the shelves

Its not about a hard sell, just eye contact and acknowledgement from the members of staff. They, the staff gave off a negative body language with their arms folded across their chest and backs to the door discussing who was going out that night - this was all from my wife whose an auditor in retail.

She says to me, in the short space of time we were there which must have been no more than two minutes, not one customer was approached or interestingly no one bought anything either and this was on a friday lunch time six weeks before christmas.

In my good ladies words, it was most definitely bottom of the league for retail experience.

On another point she says to me they the staff look as exciting and interesting as the team they represent which for me isnt good at all.

I work in retail, not in the store but at the head office in buying here in Cape Town. We do buying for our gaming section, and honestly the level of customer service is poor generally. I have no problems with Shabani and the fact that he does not need help. However, there are many people who require assistance because they might not be able to find what they looking for or they not sure on what product to select for whatever reason. The idea is to approach the customer, be polite and if the customer does not require assistance walk away and let the customer know you always available, should they require help.

The whole idea is to make the customer feel welcome, and at ease when doing their shopping knowing that there, are always somebody to assist. Retail is very complicated at times, because the level of customers varies.

I usually walk out of shops where they come up straight away and ask if you need help. I don't like feeling I ought to be buying. Very often I've gone into a shop to have a look and to see what is available. I want staff who look available if i need help but who wait to be approached before offering it. If they were discussing what they were doing that night then that's a negative, but not approaching me would be a positive in my book and in many others I suspect.

A few years back we went to Carcraft in Rochdale, not to buy, but just to get a few ideas of makes, prices etc. If you don't like 'full on' sales techniques, stay away from that place.

As you enter, there's a barrier and a turnstile type thing which funnels you through to the main showroom. However, before you can get through the turnstile, there is a hovering pack of salesmen, pens and paper at the ready, waiting to take your personal details etc.

Once through, we thought thank God that's over, but it wasn't because our 'assigned' salesman kept appearing from nowhere, checking if we'd found anything etc.

Normally, I would have walked straight out, but having travelled all that way, I really did want a look at a lot of brands under the one roof. I won't set foot in the place again though.

hello Bubble,

I got those ones from the website and had to phone up and clarify but what you get in the one pack is one black & one blue now either you could have them both plain with no design or argyle is where you have crosses over the socks I went for the plain ones and I must say the socks are very nice very smart and very warm so well recommended

I hope this helps but I agree with you it is not explained very well!

I was looking at the club's online store and there is an item described as "Gift Design 10Flag". The photograph makes it look like a wall flag. Does anyone have the dimensions?

I saw this yesterday and when i looked at the size I'm sure it said it was 90cm by 150cm although i could be wrong.
