Poggy fee to Stuttgart is just £4 million...that is interesting to say the very least.

Good riddance. He was too big for us by his own admissions anyway.

So wonder what the need for all the further ongoing talks is?

You need to agree a deal with more than just the club...

Why are you being deliberately awkward recently?

Is there any reason as to why Stuttgart got Poggy for £4million?

Surely we would have bid that much if we wanted him? Is it because we are from the PL we got quoted a higher price?

Like Ricky said, I don't think he was ever that keen on joining us, maybe he wanted a huge signing on fee and mega wages to come and that with the 4m fee wasn't worthwhile, he may have been either more keen to join Stuttgart or they were prepared to pay him a lot.

Players do hold a lot of power when their contract is close to expiring.

Pogrebynak would always choose Stuttgart ahead of us, I'm not sure why people are suggesting we could have bought him ahead of them.

I bet he received a massive signing on fee, he would have been extremely well paid at Zenit to begin with.

Don't forget that after finishing third in the German league, Stuttgart can offer European football (Champions League, I think) and probably higher wages than we would be willing to go to. Shame, but that's life.

Stuttgart went close to signing Huntelaar for a lot of money so they would have outbid us on fee and wages even if we had attempted to sign him. He probably would have seen them as a more attractive proposition anyway so just forget about it. Let's get Kalinic in now! Anyone know if he was at the game today?

Abolustely honestly, I would rather Kalinic anyway.

Pogrebnyak is a great player, but after his comments in January and the way he's deliberately run his contract down with Zenit, I would have had major reservations over his character...the last thing we would need is to replace with Roque with another player who thinks he is too good for this club.

Kalinic comes with more potential too, and that in itself is exciting.

I think it would be a great idea to announce the 3 together. Those 3 announced together would be quite a 'sexy' trio of signings, considering their ages/potential etc. When you compare that to Fowler, Grella and Andrews of last year, it does raise the profile of the club somewhat.

On Kalinic's Wikipedia page it says he is a Blackburn Rovers player and there are comments attributed to his agent on there....

Wikipedia is the last place you should trust when it comes to stuff like that, even below Vital Football, Tribal Football, Goal.com...

He's not a Rovers player until the club website announces he's a Rovers player. They're always quick off the mark with signings on the official sites, invariably before the press can say for sure. It's more likely though that we'll see a two line release saying that we've had a bid accepted and agreed terms and now it's down to the work permit - which could take a week or so even after we announce the deal is thrashed out. We're unlikely to see a photo of him smiling and waving in a Rovers shirt just yet.

So we're signing unproven but potentially perspective kids...not bad, but hopefully this has saved the money for a real star in central midfield.

Kalinic price has been agreed...contract terms agreed...medical done...now pending a work permit...hearing on Thursday...will be a struggle but should get it on appeal.

And before you ask Burnley were bongo...but Coyley knows it.
