Kamy, do you have info if Ibricic is actually being talked to or of interest to Sam?

On a sidenote, Di Santo has been speaking of his goal to play like Messi and emulate his hero. Still not convinced he will join us for sure, as time keeps on passing by. Look forward to it though.

Here we go:

Certainly a box to box midfielder, gets his body between man and ball well, decent vision and can pass but dont know if he would be able to hold on to the ball

as much at Prem level, excellent free kick and good bursts from deep into the box, how old is he?

At the right money he does look a proper midfielder!

He would have to be aregular International if we went for him, another work permit may be a problem!

Well he has played a part in all of Bosnia's world cup qualifiers.. he also has allot more caps than his own wiki says (17 caps and 2 goals).. so I am presuming that a work permit would be much easier to get..

Also he is only 23yrs old :)

An old target seems to have priced himself out of moves to Blackburn and Everton and is now currently hawking himself around...this one for the French speakers...

http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2009/...-le-hertha.html

Released by Marseille at the end of last season, Renato Civelli could put his bags in Germany. And more precisely in Berlin, where Hertha is soft to the eyes Argentine defender. "It would interest me, the person said in L'Equipe. I should be fixed this week. "Civelli (25 years) is also tracked by two Spanish clubs: Real Zaragoza Sevilla and Betis, relegated to second division.

Nicko- any update on who our first team coach is and if Sam is looking at any specific central midfield players?

No to the coach...and not sure on the midfielder yet...if Kalinic is completed and Di Santo arrives the club should know exactly what they have left to spend on that very important player.

Let's say Kalinic is £4 million up front and on £30,000-a-week for the next season...that is £5.5 million gone. Di Santo should be wages only which is around £500,000 gone.

So that should leave about £6 to £7 million for a midfielder, including up front fee and wages for the first year. Narrows the field a bit, but that is the reality.

Hopefully you can then afford to land something better than a Newcastle United cast-off like Smith or Nolan.

Thanks Kamy, have just finished watching all of the linked video's as well.

Always on the move, change of direction quickly most of the time with the ball. Definitely has a work ethic and is good in both roles. Even when I thought he'd screwed up a good break he still won a pen. good passing both on the ground and in flight, although he plays mainly with his right he can still play with his left and pass as well.

I really like the look of him and he's strong as well as quick, definitely worth further investigation, could be exactly what we need. 23 soon to be 24 so although not young he's still got room to improve. I'm now off to find out Hadjuk's next game.

If you give up about £30K a week on wages, that should still leave about 4-5 million a central midfield player, hopefully enough to sign an up and coming player with potential...Fabian Delph! ;)

Nice one as well.

Seriously you have to tell me your system for researching on the web. He really has caught my eye.

Hadjuk would part with him for that as well surely?

What do we do then the following year with their wages??? If the first year is in-corporated in the transfer funds, surely that means they can't be accommodated on the wage bill?? If thats the case do they take funds from next seasons transfer fund to increase the wage bill for the following year, thus reducing our future funds year in year out?

EG

Say normal fund 10M and all spent.

first year wages make up 2.5M of that 10M, so next years fund providing no sales would be 7.5M as 2.5 is needed to pay wages of last years signings?

Do future payments also come out the funds as well??

RSC on 50+k a week, surely this will have been budgeted for, still had three and half years to run?? on the terms of his contract.

Kalinic and Di Santo only come in at 2m a year, still leaves 600k a year on his wages alone

I'm sure the powers that be will have the finances well in hand, even keeping the bank manager happy.

We are of course all assuming we have the reported 13m, don't think outside of a privileged few anyone actual knows for sure. It's all guesstimates.

Add in we had to lose 100K a week off the wage bill.

Blackburn Rovers

Ins

2nd June 2009 - Elrio van Heerden - Club Brugge - free

26th June 2009 - Gael Givet - Marseille - £3.5m

29th June 2009 - Lars Jacobsen - Everton - free

30th June 2009 - Steven N'Zonzi - Amiens - undisclosed

Outs

24th May 2009 - Aaron Mokoena - Portsmouth - free

22nd June 2009 - Roque Santa Cruz - Manchester City - £17.5m

24th June 2009 - Matt Derbyshire - Olympiakos - undisclosed

1st July 2009 - Andre Ooijer - PSV Eindhoven - free

13th July 2009 - Josh O'Keefe - Walsall - undisclosed

I just don't see how we will have done that once we add in di santo, Kalinic and another.

I don't doubt the finacial know how of our club bigwigs, it just doesn't seem to add up? Sam said he was going to push for more I'm wondering if he got his way?

If we've shaved 100K a week off the wage bill after the new three come in, then the man who gave Moko, Derb's, Ooijer and Josh their contracts needs a visit to the public stocks.

I'm not complaining but if the aim is still to get the wage bill down by 5M then we're in for one or two sales, surely.

Add Tugay, Villanueva, Simpson to that. Givet was here for half of last season as well, so his wage isn't a new addition this summer. We seem to be sending out more players on loan this season as well.

Now I agree that I don't see us shaving 100k of the wage bill, certainly not with more signings, just pointint out that you left out some players. We may "only" have paid Tugs, Simpson and Carlos £25k-£30k or something like that (Most of which would be Tugay) but that still covers Kalinic.

Matty had to go out on loan (allegedly) to cover Diouf's wages etc. so I guess they now come into the equation as well, this 5m reduction does seem to be a bit of a strange one.

Wonder where Sam has told JW we are likely to finish with regard to the placing money, or Sam if you want to pay that, or sign him you will finish in ?? place.

Tugay, Ooijer and Santa Cruz would have been on big money, at least £120,000 per week there and the new signings will be around £25k mark plus the others mentioned so I think it would give us a saving of £100kper year, even allowing for three more signings!!
