Lathund Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 'Pogrebnyak was heading back to Russia today to obtain a work permit and he is due back in Germany tomorrow, when he will be officially presented as a Stuttgart player.' end quote How come he gets the work permit from Russia and not Germany?? That means British clubs have a different playing field to other European Clubs!! You're just figuring that out now? Before the usual "FIFA hates England" bs starts, I might add that they have nothing to do with that. Although I'm pretty sure that it's similar to Hoilett having to leave for Canada and then come back to the UK. It's not Russia granting the work permit.

When you get an English work permit, you get it from the country of your residence, not England. England has offices set up that process the paperwork. Can't come into the country on a resident basis until the permit has been received.

I am confused here, could someone post the exact rules regarding this!! I am confused as to why the hearing for Kalinic would be in England if he has the work permit in Croatia!!
philipl Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Very simple: You have to enter the country with the right documentation. So if you are given a work permit in England or Germany, you have to be physically in your home country to go and collect the permit from the relevant Consulate who stick it in your passport. Then you jump on the old jallopy and off you go to the country you are going to work in where friendly border guard says "welcome you work shy foreigner come to take all the jobs from us deserving sons of the fatherland", stamps your passport and waves you through....

So why is the hearing to allow a permit in England? That is my point!!
Sir Ranulf Westwood Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 So why is the hearing to allow a permit in England? That is my point!! Erm because Blackburn is in England which is where he would like to work, and therfore requires a permit?
philipl Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 So why is the hearing to allow a permit in England? That is my point!! Because the Home Office hasn't outsourced the Work Permits civil servants to India yet. Or Because the job is in the UK and it is the UK employer's job to obtain the work permit on behalf of the incredibly specially skilled employee whose like does not exist in the UK- at least for £6m transfer fee and £30k a week wages which is all wot we can afford.
nicko Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 And Nicko, how come the young lad Clarets are signing will be able to get a work permit?? Fabulous Fernando has a Spanish passport...
Kelbo Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Fabulous Fernando has a Spanish passport... How the hell has he got that?? No wonder I am confused, congo's and Senagals on French passports, Italians on Australian Passports, Brazilians on Portuguese passports and Irish on Scottish Passports!!!!! I think I am getting old Even Scottish on English passports
roversmad95 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Fabulous Fernando has a Spanish passport... good job eh nicko you lot couldn't afford to pay the work permit also.....he he he sorry had to.... nicko do you know for sure that once these two get signed and sealed will we look for a box to box midfielder? thanks...
nicko Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 How the hell has he got that?? Guerrero was with Real Madrid for about six or seven years and got citizenship in the process. No idea about the young Brazilian who is due to come to Rovers...I can only take it he has a Portuguese passport. Even less idea what he was doing in Slovakia... nicko do you know for sure that once these two get signed and sealed will we look for a box to box midfielder? More of a midfield passer than a box-to-boxer...a 'new Tugay' is the description on the Wanted poster.
spencey7 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Can't say I'm too enamoured with the signing of Kalinic - to opt for him over my mate Pogrebnyak for basically the same price seems risky... Lest we forget that Kalinic is only 21, and has only played twice for Croatia. If the brief was to bring in a proven goalscorer, Pogrebnyak was the better bet, more experience and playing in a better league. Would it be remiss of me to point out that Kalinic's wages were probably cheaper......? But I digress... It could certainly have been a hell of a lot worse (Davies, Crouch, Bent, etc).
Captain Spaulding Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 At the bottom of this article here: Possible Bouba Diop Link? It mentions that we've been linked with Papa Bouba Diop? I've not read the last couple of pages yet, but has this been discussed?
Majiball Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Having just finished watching Arsenal V Rangers, I wonder if Wenger fancies giving young Jack some regular first team experience. Awesome performance from a 17 year old, no wonder Capello was watching. Ah well better stop Inceing!
Sandiway Blue Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Alan,do you know if there are any more scouting missions planned for Sam this week? Oops ! my mistake i thought this was the transfer thread....
Stuart Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 In an attempt to drag this thread kicking and screaming back on topic... Nicko, can we expect to see Di Santo making his way to Ewood tomorrow?
mellison24 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I'm guessing DiSanto will be wrapped up and official 2moz. I think Kalinic is effectively sorted too, with just the work permit to get. Once all that is done, I'll be confident of a ood season ahead....and that's before we invest in midfield!!
roversmum Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Exactly, magical morten. Too much time if you ask me. I've just spent the afternoon cutting down six twelve foot leylandi trees on my own. Plan to cut them up for the tip tomorrow. Looking forward to the official presentation of Di Santo and Kalinic, hopefully sooner rather than later. Had enough of pre-season and windows now. Can't wait for the season to begin.
mellison24 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 But we must invest in midfield, this has been said before, but we have no midfield if Dunny, Emerton and Grella are out! And please dont tell me Andrews, even yesterday showed he simply isnt good enough! I actually point you in the direction of.....GALLY!! I think he could do a fairly decent job as a 'sit and pass' player. But I do agree we could do with that 7mil investment.

But I do agree we could do with that 7mil investment. Technically, I have always rated Gally, he is a good player, just depends which head he wears!! Its up to the lad, as Elvis sang, 'Its Now or Never'
John Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 As been mentioned, surely we would have to ship a couple of players out before adding a midfielder. Numbers wise we are very top heavy. Obviously I would like us to add some decent quality for the central midfield position, but we have so many midfielders on the books currently (granted some of them are injured, never fit etc).
nicko Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Alan,do you know if there are any more scouting missions planned for Sam this week? Not that I know of...you are in limbo a wee bit with the permit hearing not until Thursday...you could look at midfielders just now but probably not bid on them yet. Nicko, can we expect to see Di Santo making his way to Ewood tomorrow? I would hope so. No reason why he should not arrive and get into the mix.

I really cant see us signing anyone for midfield for this reason alone, its our problem position and we seem to be stuck with players who arent really prem lvl or players that dont play regularly, cant see anybody coming in for any of our midfielders, begs the question to me why andrews was given a new contract if we really did have an offer for him. Seems funny that we recieved an offer from fulham for KA then the next minute he has a new contract, im just hoping that i am wrong because its painfull to watch a drab midfield second to every ball and no ball retention. This problem has worried me way before the sale of roque and our long list of striker replacements , i just hope a few midfielders were on that list too.
Amo Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 At the bottom of this article here: Possible Bouba Diop Link? It mentions that we've been linked with Papa Bouba Diop? I've not read the last couple of pages yet, but has this been discussed? Diop sounds like a strange one, to me. We already have a host of midfielders to play the holding role. If anything we need a playmaker.
