1864roverite Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Waggy, you really seem to have lost the plot where Rovers are concerned. Your basing your views on Sams Bolton links, which, by now have long gone under the bridge, it is time for you to move on. You were not alone with reservations about him, I was sceptical about his appointment, there were many others. Sam saved our club and kept us up. He has now had all summer to mould his experience around Blackburn Rovers. We sell RSC and we get a 21yr old Croatian susperstar in the making, we pick up a potential star in NZonzi and we remove plenty of deadwood from the books. At the same time we see major developments off the pitch with the ST initiatives and a big increase in sales (I read somewhere along the lines of 18-19k so far). From what I have seen and read in pre season it looks like Rovers have a settled squad and that the on pitch training is going well. There are more changes to come. So my mate, get amongst the changes and do yourself a favour. Lash out £150 of your hard earned, its approx 57 pints of the golden stuff. Only THEN will you begin to have any views that you may have accepted or considered. You may even find that you like it. Whilst were on check the odds for relegation, you wont see Rovers amongst the favourites.
incecticide Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I was amazed he won player of the season to be honest, there was a period before christmas where he was our worst player, his display and attitude away at Wigan is amongst the worst I've seen in a Rovers shirt. i think he deserved it. granted he had a shocker that day but everyone has off-days. his attitude was questioned a lot but the interview on sky before the wigan home match showed he was annoyed that valencia had made him look a mug and that he was determined to settle the score that day... fine by me. £10m would be too good to turn down though.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Givet is effectively Warnocks LB replacement. Warnocks a very good player but an offer in excess of 10 million would be too much to turn down. I was amazed he won player of the season to be honest, there was a period before christmas where he was our worst player, his display and attitude away at Wigan is amongst the worst I've seen in a Rovers shirt. Givet isn't a left back, he's a central defender. He offers nothing going forward. Given the whole debacle of the search for a striker, imagine how hard it would be to find a replacment left back (full backs go for big money as there aren't many decent around as well). I agree on the player of the season point you raised, personally i though that was Samba.
mellison24 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 SSN reporting DiSanto is at Rovers discussing his loan move. Beaten to it....grrrrrr

G Somerset Rover Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Mister X...hits the spot. 46 and counting. Worth the wait. Any of those claiming the guy had turned down Rovers have my permission to feel sheepish... My hand's half up . I was just thinking that it was becoming too late is all and worried that Chelsea would start to play silly buggers. Really looking forward to seeing the lad play.
DeadlyDirk Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Mister X...hits the spot. 46 and counting. Worth the wait. Any of those claiming the guy had turned down Rovers have my permission to feel sheepish... Well the news we were told in June has finally been confirmed, thanks nicko. Don't know many others getting their stories 6 weeks odd in advance and being bang on the money. Kalinic in on Thursday hopefully with a few trialists still knocking about and a bit of money in the pot. Happy days ahead.
colbert Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Mister X...hits the spot. 46 and counting. Worth the wait. Any of those claiming the guy had turned down Rovers have my permission to feel sheepish... finally the wait may be over
Antgrad Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Mister X...hits the spot. 46 and counting. Worth the wait. Any of those claiming the guy had turned down Rovers have my permission to feel sheepish... Well done, nicko. To be honest the posts on here for the last week saying "He's not coming now, He'd have been here already" have been absolutely pathetic. Not one of you who posted that had any really reason to do so. You hadn't a clue what was going on behind the scenes with the deal and have made yourselves look ridiculous.
Ronin Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Just waiting on the pic from the official site with Di Santo holding up a Rovers shirt /scarf now!
Hughesy Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Quality work Nicko, cheers. Di Santo (under going medical now) today n Kalinic on Thursday. We will then be far stronger than this stage last season.
andymo Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Quality work Nicko, cheers. Di Santo (under going medical now) today n Kalinic on Thursday. We will then be far stronger than this stage last season. Is this duo to be our new strikeforce or not ? that is the question ! might be a bit young eh ! whats the view guys?
saxo1man30 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Quality work Nicko, cheers. Di Santo (under going medical now) today n Kalinic on Thursday. We will then be far stronger than this stage last season. onto the midfield problems then. dunn and grella are both concerns for the start of the season(yet again in dunn`s case!) and reid seems nowhere near a return. i think it`s time to slowly ship our injury trio of dunn-reid-grella out of the club and replace them with more reliable players. i don`t think it can be done quickly unfortunatly, but replacing 1 per season has to be looked at now.

The problem is, I doubt there would be any takers for those 3 at a price the club would deem reasonable. Fulham werent even tempted it seems to come in with an improved offer for Andrews of more than 2 million, who isn't even injury plagued and is versatile player. What chance do we have with those 3?
nicko Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Heard a strange one...has Nikola Kalinic's dad just been appointed coach of Hajduk Split? Don't panic!!!!!!
rovers1995 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 What will that mean to us Nicko, surely he'll let him to come to the premierleague?
67splitscreen Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Heard a strange one...has Nikola Kalinic's dad just been appointed coach of Hajduk Split? Don't panic!!!!!! according to wiki yes he has. Kalinic's Dad
G Somerset Rover Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Heard a strange one...has Nikola Kalinic's dad just been appointed coach of Hajduk Split? Don't panic!!!!!! Everything has been agreed though subject to the work permit has it not? Surely they'd be no way that they could pull out of the deal now?
American Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Well the news we were told in June has finally been confirmed, thanks nicko. Don't know many others getting their stories 6 weeks odd in advance and being bang on the money. Kalinic in on Thursday hopefully with a few trialists still knocking about and a bit of money in the pot. Happy days ahead. Considering he predicted Arshavin 18 months before it happened, why didn't we know earlier!?!?
Veevs Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Heard a strange one...has Nikola Kalinic's dad just been appointed coach of Hajduk Split? Don't panic!!!!!! http://www.croatiantimes.com/news/Sports/2...of_Hajduk_Split yep looks like he has been appointed the coach.. strange turn of events but contract etc has been agreed subject to work permit so should not be an issue..
Jonnolad Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Fulham werent even tempted it seems to come in with an improved offer for Andrews of more than 2 million, who isn't even injury plagued and is versatile player. Do you think, perchance, they were put off slighty by: A- Being told he was categorically not for sale? and B- Him signing a brand new 4 year contract with us? Personally I think that may have affected their motivation for putting another bid in or not just a teeny bit!
Esulx Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 according to wiki yes he has. Kalinic's Dad according to wiki, Nikola is already a Blackburn player. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Kalini%C4%87
