Balwer Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Just hope kalinic doesn't suffer the 7m rovers hoodoo. Davies, grabbi and Barry the jock. Hoping for good things from the lad and looking forward to seeing him on a rovers shirt. Well Ricky since it's 7m Euros, and thus not pounds, I'd say he's in the clear.

Ricky Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Current exchange rate makes it pretty much the same thing unfortunately.
Blue blood Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Just hope kalinic doesn't suffer the 7m rovers hoodoo. Davies, grabbi and Barry the jock. Hoping for good things from the lad and looking forward to seeing him on a rovers shirt. 7 certainly isn't a lucky figure regarding rovers transfers. Having said that, given how tight money is, I'm sure Sam has made sure he's got a good un (as much as possible) before parting with that much money. This is such a crucial signing, and I'm feeling a lot more optimistic about the new season now. Likewise Di Santo seems a shrewd acquisition. I'm not a fan of premiership loans at all, but it does seem a good way of getting another quality striker on our books on the cheap. If he's as good as he's meant/hoped to be, of course there would be a January option, it only makes sense that Chelsea would have access to their own quality players. Personally I'd have prefered another perminent signing but it does mean that a) we have the numbers up front, we have a good level of quality, and c) time to scout for a replacement if needed without the pressure of needing to get it done by the end of August. All that's needed is a creative midfielder and I'll be in dreamland.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 BBC have made a cockup/typo error i assume? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/8182592.stm "The 21-year-old Kalinic has signed a four-year contract with Rovers and could cost them up to £12m, according to the Croatian club." I guess it could be factoring wages, possible future transfer fee with the sell on clause etc... Its not very clear.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 He looks a little bit like Messi. Let's hope he's three times as good
rovers1995 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Also- BBC are reporting that Kalinic could cost us £12 million, is this figure correct? I thought someone said he will cost us: - £3.5 million when/if his work permit comes through - £3.5 million next August - £0.5 million if he scores 15 goals - 15% of any future profit made if he is sold for at least £7.5 million - £7 million in wages over a 4 year period which comes to about £36500 a week

And all the above numbers were in euros at Hajduk's website, so €3,5M is £3M and so on.

And despite what Ricky says it's not quite 1 to 1. He'll apparently be on around 29K a week sterling (Australian laptop, don't have the pounds sign anywhere nearby)
Blue n White Rover Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 If the BBC have it up, then it's pretty much a done deal?

Grez Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 great... Strikers done, now how much for Momo Sissoko - brilliant CM, would love to have him
Veevs Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 great... Strikers done, now how much for Momo Sissoko - brilliant CM, would love to have him Sissoko is in the 12m bracket apparently.. defo a no go there.. The likes of Elm or Ibricic are more in line with what we have left..
nicko Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 We haven't heard from Nicko for a while. He's either toasting his success or staying ahead of the game and chasing the latest on Ellington/new midfielder.... Probably the latter I'd wager. I'm going to be out of it for a while. Can we just leave it at that. Ta.
rovers1995 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I'm going to be out of it for a while. Can we just leave it at that. Ta. Is it to do with Rovers Nicko, then we'll leave it at that
Iceman Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Just hope kalinic doesn't suffer the 7m rovers hoodoo. Davies, grabbi and Barry the jock. Hoping for good things from the lad and looking forward to seeing him on a rovers shirt. Dont jinx it mate. We could do without another 7mill flop
Majiball Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Overrated and past it. Sam would want him to put too much in over 90 mins and there's no way he would want to be associated with BRFC either. Beck's would love it a Ewood and you'd love him too!!! Dont jinx it mate. We could do without another 7mill flop Please no, we'd be in serious pooh-do.
Balwer Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I'm going to be out of it for a while. Can we just leave it at that. Ta. Understood. Thank you for all you've given us this summer.
Taggart Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I'm going to be out of it for a while. Can we just leave it at that. Ta. If thats it for the summer Nicko - thanks for all the updates, much appreciated and enjoy the season where ever your watching from, most likely the journo boxes :-)
rovers1995 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Thanks for everything Nicko, I think that he is just looking in on some transfer that he has heard rumours of though.
brfc4ever Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Need to make sure we have someone who can put in decent set pieces on a consistent basis. With Di Santo (6 foot 4) Samba (6 foot 4), N'Zonzi (6 foot 3) and Kalinic (6 foot 1 1/2) in the side it would be foolish not to capitalise on the height we have. If we could find a midfielder playmaker who can put in a decent set piece that would be brilliant. How about Juventus´ Christian Poulsen Danish papers say Juventus want to get rid...
John Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 How about Juventus´ Christian Poulsen Italian work colleague (who supports Juve) suggested him this morning, saying he would be ideal for us.
Hughesy Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Sam is the man - Cant wait for the new season!! 1 creative midfielder added and we would be in dreamland I think!!
mark Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 + Kalou. And Drogba and Kalou are probably heading for the African Nations cup again in the January-February whenever it is. bloody good point budha, perhaps explains the 5 month deal, damn.
saxo1man30 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 if that`s it for this close season, cheers nicko. reading your info has brightened up the always dull(for footy fans) close season and got us all talking.
