Hughesy Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 If we were to sell a defender - then id rather Warnock or Nelsen than before Samba. We need to keep progressing - replacing older players with younger more talented players, not by flogging our best assets (Samba) and signing someone like Faye!!

Iceman Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Why sell Samba, when we know the trustees will take about 80% of that money. We would once again have sold one of our top players, without being able to use the cash. Everytime 10mill gets thrown our way, we get all excited. If it was 10mill for Gally or Rigters, then yes get excited. Its time we find some stability, and move forward a bit. This season we got a very good mix of experience and youth. The likes of Hoiliett, Van Heerden, Doran, Kalinic, Di Santo and Olssen to compliment the likes of Robinson, Givet, Warnock, Benni and so on.
brfc_jonesy Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Although I absolutely despise the yids, if they come in for 10m for Samba Id bite their hand off. He can be so clumsy at times its frustrating. I think we could replace him quite easily. Got him for next to nothing aswell so it would be a massive profit
Esulx Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I dont know if this link has been posted already but would be a real coup if it happened. I just cant be bothered to read back amongst all the Samba/Beckham drivel to see if it has or not. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_5474359,00.html
Dunnfc Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 You guys shouldn't be worrying! Wait until there's something concrete in it, or till dead line day and we see stroke boy im sure Samba's agent is will ring him. Oh enjoy: http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=350527 Amazing what other fans think of stroke boy.
Gally Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I'd resist aproaches for Samba, and Warnock for that matter, as much as possible until the figures get ridiculous. We've let key personel go already this summer and brought in a lot of new faces. Us, and more recently Fulham have shown that continuity can be a massive ingredient in success, and letting more key players go for anything less than massively inflated prices in a window such as this i think would be daft.

We have our strikers.
Trickstar Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Really can't see us splashing another £6m+ on Chamakh after the fee we paid or Kalinic with add ons etc...
beanie Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 How do you know Jacobsen is injury prone ? He had his Shoulder dislocated in a very bad way last year, which took him 6 months to be normal again. Im sick of people telling me that he is injury prone, i can tell he is not injury prone. A player who is very injury prone must be Steven Reid, has he played 10 matches for the last 3 seasons ? Stats on Jacobsen. Everton 2008 - 09 League 4 (1) 0 FA Cup 0 (1) 0 FC Copenhagen 2006 - 07 League 27 (0) FC Copenhagen 2005 - 06 League 38 (0) Euro Cups 4 (0) 0 FC Copenhagen 2004 - 05 League 16 (0) Hamburg 2003 - 04 League 5 (4) 0 I know there is missing a season, but he was out of favaour in Germany where he played for Hannover as i recall. I think this shows that he is not injury prone !!! I just have to let some steam out ! :-) Days later he signed a contract with German club 1. FC Nuremberg starting from July 2007. His stay with the German club was troubled because of injuries, and the club also failed to stay in the German Bundesliga. He therefore requested to leave and it was granted by the club in late June 2008. Taken from his wikipedia page which i know is not the most reliable source in the world but dunno how wrong that is so thats 12 games since july 2007 now i agree thats better than reidy but its not exactly going to worry brads games in a row record now is it.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I would be gutted if we sold either Warnock or Samba...both big players for our team. WE DONT NEED THE MONEY...WE DONT NEED TO SELL!
JAL Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I would be gutted if we sold either Warnock or Samba...both big players for our team. WE DONT NEED THE MONEY...WE DONT NEED TO SELL! Its Zurab whose got to be the immediate saleable asset along with Gally if the club wants to pull some more money in, surely.
John Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Unless a truly ridiculous bid comes in for Samba, there is no need to sell. Buying players/replacements is very difficult at the moment. I am shocked how many people are saying sell as if we would not miss someone of that quality. Pretty sure Sam will think the same....
Hughesy Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 That has to be a plant by Bordeux to try and raise the fee. We have our strikers. Unless someone is on their way out. Didnt sam say earlier in the summer that the board have to be ready to sieze any opportunity that may spring up?!! Roberts out to the championship for £4m, Chamakh in for £6m........ one can dream
S15 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Didnt sam say earlier in the summer that the board have to be ready to sieze any opportunity that may spring up?!! Roberts out to the championship for £4m, Chamakh in for £6m........ one can dream There he goes again.. Crackin' one that is Hughesy, good job. No need to sell Samba, we can flog MGP for £25m, right?
tcj_jones Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Why do people want us to sell all our best players? Warnock for £7m and Samba for £10m after just letting Roque go and struggling hugely to bring in a replacement? We wouldn't get players of half their standard for the kinda prices people are talking about. If we were forced into selling, then both players must be worth c. £15m in today's climate.
Fraserkirky Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 We could do with that Zemmama fella from hibs.
IAN57 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 A few moments ago, on talk sport, a guy introduced as a top london agent, was asked by the spurs supporting presenter, about Samba. The reply was '' NOT GOING TO HAPPEN ''. Don't know their names.
Veevs Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Found this interesting in the discussion about Samba.. based on interceptions/blocks/saves/catches across the whole of the premier league.. 2 of the top 5 where blackburn players (the rest of the top 5 being keepers).. Samba and Nelson, although these stats probably where unbalanced due to our lack of a proper defensive midfield player.. But they do show that he is not exactly rubbish, plenty of other teams had worse defensive records, our guys just rocked in comparison to most other teams.

Kelbo Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Do not be surprised if McCarthey is sold/swapped!! Sam would get rid in a heartbeat, that could be something to look out for
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Do not be surprised if McCarthey is sold/swapped!! Sam would get rid in a heartbeat Dont know whether to laugh or cry at that one going off tonights performance up front!!!!
Will Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Not wanting to worry people, but i sat in JW Upped tonight and saw Roy Aitken and a few other people leave after about 65 mins. Obviously not happy about Warnock not featuring, or was he ?
