tcj_jones Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Urgh, Nathan Ellington - it's like Robbie Fowler all over again. Presuming he joins, I doubt he'll start a single Premier League game next season. This is such a waste of time.

Presty On Tour Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Isn't he related to John at Pomey? Who are they? I was taking the P out of them Taking Kranjcar would be ideal too.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I was taking the P out of them Is there anyone who hasn't taken something from them of late?
Backroom Tom Posted August 6, 2009 Backroom Posted August 6, 2009 Urgh, Nathan Ellington - it's like Robbie Fowler all over again. Presuming he joins, I doubt he'll start a single Premier League game next season. This is such a waste of time. Except he's maybe 5 years younger? He's on trial, if he is good enough he'll earn a deal if he isn't he wont. One things for sure he wouldn't offer us any less up front than greedy Gally.
Ronin Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 What a shame... fitting chant for 1st game of season... 'thank you very much for £18million' to the tune of the cadbury's roses song.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 What we've seen from Big Sam is that he will give people a chance to prove themselves. If they don't impress him then he ain't afraid to get rid of them just like he's done already in pre-season. If he feels Ellington will add something to our team then he deserves a chance to show us what he's got to offer.
den Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Heard Nathan Ellington has impressed in the early days of training.......... Just as Vierra did, Unleaded?
daveoftherovers Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Barton isn't just agression...He's an expansive midfielder who can link with the wide players and forwards alike...don't forget, he was a england player before all this shennanigans with prison etc.... He would be the best player in our midfield by a mile, and had he not been a bad boy, would probably command fees around the £15m-£20m mark....if we can get him cheap, it's a no-brainer. But who's going to volunteer to have their face as his ash tray? The man is a walking nightmare and we should leave well alone!
Kelbo Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 But who's going to volunteer to have their face as his ash tray? The man is a walking nightmare and we should leave well alone! However good a player one may be, if he stuffs the dressing room, the tem spirit dies and its the end finato!! For me a good dressing room and team spirit is worth 10 points a season if not more!1 Joey Barton would demolish a dressing room both literally and mentally in 10 minutes flat!!

Which would seem the case at his present club, what was it Shearer band him from the club for .
JAL Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I beg to differ, but you'll have to look back a few pages and find the terms of the bet to see how much. I wish Sir Alan was around to confirm that Eddie's favorite player is actually coming to Brockhall this weekend. This is a hint to the other journalists who use this board: Get cracking! You display some worrying thoughts for us all doctorryan. The pleasure is all yours if true, the nightmare is all ours.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Barton's on £65k a week basic plus bonuses and something like £30k a week for his "image rights" at Newcastle, with no relegation wage drop clause. You think he'll give that up just for a higher class of opponent in the Prem? If he was out on his arse and willing to work for £20k a week because no one else would have him, I'd back Sam taking a punt on him, but not before.
Oklahoma Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Rovers are linked to French Midfielder Hassan Yebda of Benfica.........Box to Box(what ever that means)...........We need a creative player not a box to box one........ Yebda was a nice surprise for all Benfica fans. He came on a free transfer and was one of the best players in the first half of the season. He is definetly not a creative midfielder but I still think he can be a good adition to Rovers squad. According to the press a few days ago, he could be sold for £5 million. He wants to be a first team player, something he won't be in Benfica. Rovers can still probably get him on loan.
bigbrandjohn Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Except he's maybe 5 years younger? He's on trial, if he is good enough he'll earn a deal if he isn't he wont. One things for sure he wouldn't offer us any less up front than greedy Gally. And Sam to nurture him, not Ince who was Fowlers mate. Different relationship and different managerial ability
JamieUK Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 The Ellington thing is likely to be a loan too - I'd imagine til January with the option to extend or send him back. Not much risk on our behalf...
47er Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Excuse me. 'Thank U very much' the Scaffold song. Similarly we should sing "Thank you very much for Stephen Warnock" when Liverpool come calling. !.5 M!!!!!!!!!
braddock Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 since spuds have just signed bassong does that mean they won't be after samba? they got him for £8mil, so samba must be £15mil
67splitscreen Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I would be concerned that City have not signed Lescott yet.
sweet Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I dunno why city don't just start looking for quality players abroad, instead of paying these over inflated fee's for prem players. I am sure they could get some one of lescotts ability or better, for under 20million.

By buying from other Premiership clubs, they are getting ready made players and are weakening their competition by taking their best players. It's a brutal plan!
roversmad95 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Not the Barton talk again. The guy is talented yes, but il say it again he is trouble waiting to happen. Besides we have Andrews, so no need for Barton. ha... i think barton is a little better than andrews...
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 You just haven't seen a Dubliner fight before Icers
Iceman Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 You just haven't seen a Dubliner fight before Icers This whole Barton thing is just madness. That Yebda sounds promising though. Has anybody signed Arda Turan yet?

Who are they going to try to market next, Hitler?
