And Sam to nurture him, not Ince who was Fowlers mate. Different relationship and different managerial ability

Readers may be interested to know that Robbie has just been appointed captain of Aussie "A league" newcomers North Queensland Fury."

Worrying words re: Samba from Sam in the LT today. He apparently rang 'arry to ask "are you buying him?"

Not tell him "**** off Harry he's not for sale!"

Just don't know what's happening to our club. If we're not relegated this season we will be next unless we attract new owners.

I hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in but last season you were one of my favourite posters. I'm a bit worried about you this season though, you seem to be deep down in the dumps. I have concerns too - mostly about the lack of anything resembling a Tugaylike influence in midfield but I remain optimistic that Allardyce will sort it out.

I expect to see you back to your old self once we've stuffed City on the opening day.

More likely Sam saw the reported prices, and rang desperately hoping to move the transfer along ASAP.

Rothen will be at Brockhall Monday PSG has announced.

I assume that is for a trial.

I really think Allardyce should be looking for someone a little quicker. Obviously, he has a useful left foot but our team lacks zest and ambling Rothen is not going to bring that. Slower than Gamst?

If we can find someone with a decent pass on them, they don't have to be Speedy Gonzales.

I we want speed, why do we not get Løvenkrands ? He did a decent job at NUFC last season, i know he want´s to play in England because of his wife.

Taken from one of those articles.............at least he stays fit!

"The 31-year-old midfielder played 44 games in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Cup last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists."

Needs to be a balance. Some people are either irrationally positive or depressingly pessimistic. Seeing how Sam produced mid-table form with a depleted outfit, I'm confident we'll have a decent season WITHOUT a playmaker. Naturally, one would be a big boost right now, though.

DON'T PANIC!

As some posters have pointed out with the Andrews situation; if we actually want to sell a player we get them to sign a new contract, so you only need to start worrying if Samba suddenly signs a new contract.

I know it doesn't make much sense to me either, but according to those "in the know" that's apparently what happens in football - it's what clubs do.

So, just for clarification - don't panic unless he signs a new contract - if he does then start to really panic.

Because he is garbage. He can run faster than everyone else but apart from that there is nothing else to his game.

Thanks for that Hughesy, what a poor, pathetic return for an attacking midfielder, it just goes to show that eddie was right about Rothen. Another dud not fit for purpose!

Rothen is on 40k a week at PSG.

Not heard anything about his rumored contract buy out, so he's going to costa, 2-3 m I have heard, will have to be one hell of a drop in wages for this to happen.

I think the point of the transfer is we reckon PSG will let him go for free as they don't need him anymore.

Re: Last years stats- poor, yes, if you look at him as an out and out attacking player. I'm not sure he is though. Anyhow Sam has an idea of how he could be useful for us. I think it will be unusual.

After watching Andrews performances in pre season we will be lucky to sell him for £100,000

I think " Arry... if you want to buy one of my players you need to go through me and not some red top rag. So show some respect in future.... Cock" might have been a better and less aggressive approach Simon. :rover:

imo Samba would be the last person that SA will sell. He will just love to have him here. Two players in one and effective as both. Worth a hell of a lot more to a club with a limited squad like BRFC than to others who just see the words 'centre half' on his cv.

Really lucky. Realistically then, and without luck, what do you think we'd get now - £50,000? Less?

Can you believe Sam has so much faith in him as well? What was he doing giving him a new contract instead of selling him to Fulham? Surely it must make you question Sam's judgement as a manger when he makes such an abasolutely momumental mistake as that. It makes you wonder if he has a clue what he's doing.

Out of interest, do you rate Sam as a manager?

I sincerely hope that was tongue-in-cheek. Otherwise, go and join waggy in the gutter with a bottle of brandy.

Yes I do rate him as a manager, I dont rate Andrews, I believe the contract thing was linked to selling him if I am honest!!

A premiership midfielder should have the following attributes, good first touch, passing ability and range, ability to tackle,

some pace and a footballing brain!!

Could you pick three of those and apply them to Andrews?
