Ace... I'm going to Madrid on Thursday, if we sign Salgado I might get my Rovers shirt with his name on!!! :D

I think he may turn out to be a decent signing... My only fear is if he ever had any pace, has he lost it??? We all know that in the Prem, if your fullbacks lack pace, they can, from time to time be made to look complete idiots... as we saw with Oojer last season & Kizanishvilli when he has played there... Still think he may be a decent bit of business though, he will bring a wealth of experience & you can never have enough of that!!! ;)

If we can get 30 games out of Reid this year it'll be like having a £4m new signing. I'd love to see him come back to the Reid of a few seasons ago!

Which one is the Nantes lad again? There's been so many new names in the last day or two. EDIT: Never mind, should've refreshed :) Still not got much of an idea who he is!

Blackburn are close to a deal to sign Aurélien Capoue, 27, the Guadeloupe midfield player on loan from Nantes, but are less keen on Jérôme Rothen after talks. Blackburn hoped the winger would be available on a free transfer, but Paris Saint-Germain want about £2million.

Loan player, 27, good at dribbling n quick or 2m for 32 year old Rothen!? No contest!

You've never seen him play.

The mind boggles, not for the first time. If we were on the verge of signing Rothen instead you'd be like ''31 year old, French International, played at the top level, or some goat, no contest.''

Salgado sounds interesting.. he still figured in 9 games for Real in the league last season and was their vice captain.. some nice comments from Real fans as well saying they thought it was too early to let him go.

Confused on the comments from Sam though, he said the left did not need strengthening.. now looking at Rothen and the Nantes lad both lefties.. guess Peders days are numbered (at least on the left) *shrug*

Agree veevs, think MGP is going have to produce hell of a lot more on the field to impress big Sam if hes going to stay at the club.

Shocked that the Mirror internet site has come out with stories so early in the evening.

You should have a word. We don't pay you £10k a week for the Mirror to nick the exclusive, who do they think they are ;)

For what it is worth free transfers on low wage, payg deals are worth a risk. If they don't perform they go. Salgardo has a world class pedigree, you just wonder if he is still capable.

I didn't say I had - I took the info from that site, it's a loan or 2m for a 32 year old - to me the loan sounds the better option.

According to the Sun:

Big Sam could have both of his first-choice centre-backs fit for the visit of mega-rich City.

Christopher Samba's hamstring injury is not as serious as first thought and Ryan Nelsen has an outside chance of recovering from his knee ligament problem.

Just Samba will do!

What a bizarre day.

Potentially THREE new arrivals - and still no centre-midfielder. I can only assume that Rothen will play there, given his pedigree he's got to be streets ahead of what we have at the moment.

I reckon Salgado could be a great signing, fair play to the club for stepping in so quickly.

We must be thinking about getting rid of somebody... But selling Pedersen would be a massive mistake in my eyes, no-one else in the team can deliver set pieces like he can, and that will be a key part of our approach this season.

P.S. I would also like to make a prediction that Elrio Van Heerden will be "the new Rigters".
