Shocked that the Mirror internet site has come out with stories so early in the evening.

Have they not heard of the 11 oclocker?

New one to me....will investigate.

Done foir the night.

Thanks again for the kind comments. Genuinely touched.

Al... your box is swamped, apparently. But i'm very glad to have you back here.

May the Lord bless you with much strength and peace during this horrible time.

be well.

What a bizarre day.

Potentially THREE new arrivals - and still no centre-midfielder. I can only assume that Rothen will play there, given his pedigree he's got to be streets ahead of what we have at the moment.

I reckon Salgado could be a great signing, fair play to the club for stepping in so quickly.

We must be thinking about getting rid of somebody... But selling Pedersen would be a massive mistake in my eyes, no-one else in the team can deliver set pieces like he can, and that will be a key part of our approach this season.

P.S. I would also like to make a prediction that Elrio Van Heerden will be "the new Rigters".

Oh my god, Spencey with abit of positivity there. He then goes and puts in several negative points

I reckon, Gamst will either be on the bench or sold. Rothen could still play on the wing, with Bert in centre midfield alongside Warnock.

Robinson

Salgado Samba Nelsen Givet

Diouf Bert Warnock Rothen

Di Santo Kalinic

Subs:Brown, Hoiliett, Benni, Roberts, Nzonzi, Jacobsen, Van Heerden.

nice, nice, nice - and we would still have Reidy, Pedersen, Dunny, Grella ? as someone has posted earlier, that is too big a squad for us to carry leaving those four out of the bench, so some would need to go. If 2 of those 4 were sold, i.e Pedders / Dunny, I think maybe 4-6 million could be generated and invested in a central midfielder possibly.

I suspect that it will be Rothen or the Nantes lad and not both.

Reid, Dunn and Grella are the concern for me. I would keep Dunn, but Reid and Grella should go. Doran out on loan, with Gally sold. Is Rigters still part of the squad? Hoiliett will defo be involved, after we fought for his work permit. With Di Santo on loan, i cant see Benni or Roberts leaving.

Can Salgado still run fast, if so, then it would be an extremely exciting signing but only if hes still got it at 33 years of age.

Surely Rovers will be testing him out this morning to see how quick he is, knowing what the required sprint times are, then see what his recovery time is like by putting him through his paces again tomorrow with another thorough test.

Grella will get a chance I'm sure. Reid would be too expensive to push out, I also think Sam thinks his team can get him fit.

I'd sell Gally, release Rigters n loan out young Doran.

Reid also sounds like the closest to playing at the moment so irrespective he is going to get a chance due to others fitness.

Our squad is now huge. We needto ship a few guys out somehow...

I watched him against Shamrock Rovers and he was full of running and put in a few good crosses, that was against a pretty poor League of Ireland team though and his dive was dreadful!

There's also a few videos of him on youtube in action for Real from the start in pre-season showing him bursting through the middle in the final stages of the game, so he still has a fair bit of pace by the look of things.

He has the physical side of the game than should help him in the Premier League and with the pace/fact that he's a natural RB will mean that he will be a pretty decent replacement/improvement on Andre :)

Loan player, 27, good at dribbling n quick or 2m for 32 year old Rothen!? No contest!

Indeed, but rem ....We could have said that about Tugay.

I trust SA to have someone up his sleeve but if not then never mind the diamond or the christmas tree cos BRFC are in danger of becoming the first team to play 'the polo mint' formation this season.

Signing Salgado would almost guarantee that Emerton will be in central midfield when he's fit, which would definitely help solve the problem there. He's not Tugay replacement, but how many teams actually play with a Tugay type player? Emerton's box-to-box running could be just as valuable in a different way.

Yeah but I remember away at West Ham last season Emo didn't take opportunities to have a pop at goal, which from a central midfield player we need more of, look at how much pressure the likes of lampard and gerrard take off their strikers with their play and goals!!!!

Surely not, as Sam has already said, we're well covered in wide positions. We now desperately need someone in the middle.

I simply don't believe whoever we sign for midfield will play wide. Currently we have Van Heerden, Pedersen, Diouf, Hoilett, Doran, Olsson, Emerton. Whilst we also have lots of central players four of them are bloody injured. My guess is basically we are frantically looking around for an emergency signing to cover the central area and agents are jumping on that to try and get contracts for their players.

The one we have been looked to who seems plausible is Yebeda.

I hate to think what our wage bill will be like come the end of the transfer window.

We already have Reid, Dunn, Grella, Andrews, N'Zonzi, Diouf, Pedersen, Van Heerden, Hoilett, Doran, Judge, Gallagher and Treacy on loan. Our defence and attack look really solid, but our midfield is so bloated with rubbish. We needed to cut the numbers and add some quality, yet we're looking to bring in even more faces? It seems odd.

Yeah I do think we need to cut the load in the middle, just a case of who to sell and who will be interested in the purchase!!!!
