did just state that i'd accept 8m, but i have thought on it and tried writing out a decent starting 11 with the present squad and i can't bring myself to accept that i would have to include grella/andrews and pedersen without the option of warnock.

Need to know that Hoillet will be first choice left wing and that a better midfield ball winner than grella/andrews was coming in before i'd take 8m for warnock.

If sam actually considers n'zonzi and hoillet as starters from the beginning of the season then i would trust his judgement and say that we could live without warnock, pre-season really tells you nothing about who will get premiership time though and it would not suprise me if our midfield on day 1 was diouf, grella, andrews, pedersen. and that would be a touch disapointing. much prefer diouf, emerton,n'zonzi, zenden, hoillet with kalinic up top.

OK then, I'll call it "banks demanding more borrowed money back during a credit crunch". :)

Considering the Trustees want to sell I've been relatively happy with our expenditure. In the last 12 months we've spent £21.5m on players. Not bad for a club who have a crap turnover and whose owners have been trying to sell for the past three years, whilst at the same time reducing the club's debt :tu:

As I said. Call it what you want but the bank don't demand money if we don't sell players. Exchange deals are the best for the team.

£21mil spent but how much sold. You do the sums. It's a long way from evens.

Warnock came to us with a reputation for always being injured but is hardly ever unavailable----the complete opposite of players we usually sign! Given that we currently have 4 mid-fielders out with long-term injury and we have no realistic cover for Givet at left-back it would be stupid to sell Warnock at any price. When you add the fact that he's young (relatively), enthusiastic and says he's happy here he's worth his weight in gold.

Personally I'd be really p****d off. We are sending out the wrong message-----come and get our best players, we won't resist for long. Samba will be next.

I'd like Rovers to say "Warnock is not for sale".

A year ago the club was defending its inaction in the transfer window on the basis that we had put all our efforts into signing up our best players on a long-term basis. Sometimes I despair.

Could someone please explain to me why we'd even entertain a bid for Warnock?

He's one of; if not the best player on the team

We're not that strapped for cash after the Roque sale are we?

it just seems daft that we'd get rid of one of our star players, it's like a step backwards in my eyes

We made a 3.3m loss before player sales season before last and 13m profit on player sales/purchases with a total starting debt of 20.1m.. Overall estimate although I have not seen the books is we made an overall profit of 9m for last season (similar numbers quoted by papers).

We are 11m in profit in with player sales/purchases this season (excluding the fact we don't pay all the Kalinic money this season)... and as I said a reduced wage bill..

I just don't get the potential Warnock transfer, been really happy about all the other transfers this pre-season, surely Sam has something up his sleave, we really cant be selling a first team player to buy further cover for two positions we already have cover for, and we really should not need the money this season, hell we didn't need the large profit last season.

Even if its so we can sell the club to an investor a 9m a year company is worth way more than the figures quoted for what we want to sell rovers...

What will infuriate fans is that if Sam sells Warnock because he needs funds to bring in Rothen and Capoue then why didn't he sell Keith Andrews when Fulham were sniffing around. There are also plenty of other players in the current squad who if sold would cover the costs of bringing in these two players and these are players who i would argue are less vital to the team than Warnock is.

The Times Online article (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article6792773.ece) doesn't quote anyone or provide any source for its information in relation to Warnock. I wouldn't get too excited about the article.

And its too late to sell at this point. MON needs to be told to come back with a decent offer in January.

Villa are naughty naughty awful people. With bad bad terrible haggling skills.

Tell O'Neill to go and chew a brick, his tactics are as disgraceful as Hughes/Redknapps SSN shopping tactics.

if they bid 8m, sell him. warnock can be replaced overnight. poor defender masked by workrate and decent forward play. the only way i`d be slightly wary is because in our current predicament i`d start him in midfield. they`rd be no tears from me though if he never started at left back for us again.

All this talk of accepting £8 million is ridiculous.

Shorey £4 million

Bridge £14 million

Cole £5million, with William Gallas exc

18 million and nothing oless

Absolutely right! £8 million is not going allow us to get any replacement with Warnock's ability and versatility.

Even with £18 million we won't be able to get someone else of reasonable quality who is willing to join us now.

NOT FOR SALE!

Comparing Warnock to Glen Johnson is completely useless - apples and oranges. Johnson went to Liverpool, and Rafa is insane. MON is not. Johnson is also a fair few years younger and England's first choice right back.

I'm just guessing, but I'd imagine Stevie is quite keen for European football as a first choice left back in a World Cup year, as opposed to slotting into central midfield and finishing lower mid table.

OK so effectively Warnock would be capello's 3rd choice lb. Presumably and for no good reason other than he's signed with a big club 2nd choice Wayne bridge was reputed to have cost city 14m. imho Warnocks a better player and better tackler than him AND he can play anywhere on the left. Ashley Cole cost Chelsea 5m plus Gallas 3 years ago so I guess that's 15 ish of anybody's money today and Warnock is a much better defender and tackler than him but imo not as strong / fast going forward.

4m is just an insult made by a club which appears to be becoming arrogant beyond their status.

Appears that Sam is looking at left wingers (Rothen, Khamel, etc) which would suggest that he doesn't see MGP as a key part of his plans.

I wouldn't mind us putting in a cheeky bid for Martin Petrov at City, if he is back to full fitness.

He looks like he is keen to leave City in search of first team action, given their recent influx of talent.

Can be a very destructive player on his day (or at least he could before his injuries.)

http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...5485251,00.html

And what would be his remuneration requirements?

Call it what you want but the transfer/wages budget certainly loses it.

There is a big difference Al.

As I said. Call it what you want but the bank don't demand money if we don't sell players.

Thats a daft statement. How do you know that? The plain truth is that you don't.

don`t be ridiculous, you don`t buy wayne bridge or nicky shorey at ridiculous premier league prices do you? you buy from abroad. warnock is overrated by an awful lot of our fans, in fact i`d say the level of distain directed at pederson`s efforts is as out of context as the praise for warnock`s. the reality for both lies somewhere in between. both are decent steady performers, but nowhere near top notch.

Had a feeling this might happen, cannot let our better players leave.

C'mon John......... We've always done that apart from a 4 year spell in the early 90's.

What will infuriate fans is that if Sam sells Warnock because he needs funds to bring in Rothen and Capoue then why didn't he sell Keith Andrews when Fulham were sniffing around.

It would infuriate me thats for sure.

Though I rate Warnock I have a sneaky suspicion that he might be an unsettling influence in the dressing room. I don't know why I feel that and I may be wrong but I think he might be a bit of a scouse barrack room lawyer.

i can see why he`d fear that, warnock is hardly the quiet reserved type. if he wasn`t settled, i think he`d make noises about it.

Yeah, but he's come out recently to say he was happy and looking forward to the new season. What more do you want? :angry2:

Sam tells MON to triple his offer or forget it. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Black...icle110007.html

Good for Sam!

Absolutely!!! 12 Million Plus or P**s Off

:D
