Yeah, but he's come out recently to say he was happy and looking forward to the new season. What more do you want? :angry2:

i didn`t know that, but i have heard it all before. was this statement prior to villa`s bid today? i`d suggest so, and anyway, who`s to say it`d be a case of it being his choice?

Yes, it was before Villa's bid. If I was Warnock, I'd be pretty annoyed that Villa only valued him at 4 million and tell them where to go!

Is it possible he's considering switching MGP to left back? The lad can lay a tackle and does work hard.

He works hard Ok, but he's no left back!

GIVET IS WARNOCK`S REPLACEMENT AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN :wstu:

Givet offers very little going forward, so is NOT a replacement

sam doesn`t go in for kamikaze raiding full backs, he prefers proper defenders in defensive roles. he`s not a replacement as you say, he is a proper defending full back. the days of us being left exposed constantly with virtual wingers in right/left back roles is over under sam. we will now defend properly in an organised way with real defenders(who are specialised at their jobs) working together, and i for one am delighted.

I've already mentioned this twice, but with all the crunching of numbers going on, does anyone know if Liverpool have a sell-on clause in Warnock's contract?

Fair enough comment. But it would leave us a lesser force in attack

Hunt and Gardiner used to bomb forward under Sam at Notlob whenever they were at fullback

i don`t think the bolton set up was sam`s ideal to be honest. anyway, at the end of the day warnock and emerton are NOT proper full backs(warnock was a left winger the first part of his career) and we lose goals as a direct result. if you can`t see that then you can`t be watching the game when we are defending.

You're making it up as you go along aren't you? NOT CLEVER

I cant see Villa paying more than 7-8 mill - will he rock the boat?

I hope this can be done like the brad deal last year - turned out well for both clubs.

...and I hope you're joking. The situations surrounding big Brad's departure and Warnock's (proposed transfer) are pretty different. We didn't need the couple million we got off selling Brad, I believe it was more a case of us offering him a chance to move on for a bigger payday and a longer contract than we'd be willing to offer...whatever... I just don't see how selling one of our most valuable players (from both performance and resale perspectives) for 7-8M at this point in time could turn out well for both clubs. Sheesh.

not making anything up, those are sam`s own words. he acknowledges at rovers he has a better set up and players to work with straight away from what he left behind at bolton. as you say, he had to play ricardo gardiner as a full back at bolton, and he wouldn`t have been comfortable with that.

sam like things as they should be, coaches who are qualified as coaches, goalies who are goalies, strikers who are strikers, wingers who are wingers, centre mids who are centre mids and..

defenders who are defenders. very simple philosophy don`t you think..? brian clough was very similar :)

1. You are not making sense, Sam had bombing fullbacks on Bolton

2. You said it wasn't his style, which you were proved wrong with above fact

Whether or not he has better players and setup has absolutely nothing to do with 1 or 2

i am amazed by some people suggesting to even sell Warnock after glimpse of brillance shown by him towards the end of last season. (the number of shots that bounce off the bar)

Y would we even consider selling a top performer, motivated and loyal player? and to make it worse...... buy a battalion of oldies using the funds. Just when things looks younger, its getting older again.

PLEASE BFS! don't take us through this kind of roller coaster ride, one moment we sign an exciting prospect (Kalinic) the very next moment we sell an exsisting prospect to bring in a battalion of old folks............ Ridiculous!

The goals Warnock is at fault for is usually down to his poor decision making in defense and getting tricked too easily. I can't remember many goals (or goal opportunities), if any, where he was caught out because he was too far up the pitch.

both imo. i`m not just talking last season, i`m talking from his first game for the club. if it turns out he has to stay, i wouldn`t play him in defence again.

bombing fullbacks? he had gardener only when he had to play him there who `bombed on`(probably contrary to instruction). nicky hunt bombed on? i`ll mention that on bolton mad, they`ll laugh their ass off at you.

See now you are trying to limit the damage, admit it, he played fullbacks who pressed forward and this is contrary to your earlier post that it si not his "style"

Then you go and say ridiculous things like Warnock and Emerton aren't proper "fullbacks", you coouldn't get anymore fullback/wing back then those two. They are not world class but it is certainly their positions.

C'mon John......... We've always done that apart from a 4 year spell in the early 90's.

Did not explain myself well.....

We have already done the selling of our best/better players for this summer in my view. Unless we have no other option but to sell what is the point of selling one of the team/squad's better players? So we can struggle to replace him with some potential foreign trash?

I know there will be a split on Warnock with some people saying he will struggle to get into the team with Givet etc, but for me he is our best left back.

Even with a bit of money we have struggled to buy a striker with any PL experience (even though I do think Kalinic has great potential but who knows how it will go). Some will say we could use the Warnock funds on a central midfielder, but it is likely we would struggle to bring anyone of the required quality in.

If Wayne Bridge was £14m and Glen johnson was £16-18m depending on what you believe then Father Ted is having a laugh offering £4m for Warnock. But again, I'm amazed at all the people who want to sell our best players, especially when we don't need to.

It send the wrong message to any potential players, the fans and other clubs.

Has anyone else read the article on Goal.com which says ourselves, Hull & Zenit have all had €18m offers accepted by Real for Negreido ? They say the article is from AS.

Sounds like utter twiddle to me. We don't have €8m nevermind €18m!

Nicko-you heard anything on this ?
