Poor article - where would we get £18m from?

My thoughts exactly. Apparently we have to sell a player to free up some salary room to allow Salgado to join, let alone splash £18 million on this guy. Although I would love to have him.

:wstu::lol: Most ridiculous thing i have heard in a long time. He has to be first on the team sheet.

Why must he be the first name on our teamsheet? Samba, Robinson and Emerton are three who are there before him.

Secondly do you think Big Sam has signed a £4 million player on £40K a week to sit on the bench? Givet will play left back as defensively he is far better than Warnock (or is there some objection here?).

Warnock is a good player (was not my player of the year, that was either Samba or Robinson) but do you think he should start in central midfield? Thought not so he is vying for a left back slot with Givet, where we also have a promising left back emerging in Olsson.

So if we received an offer of over £8 million I would sell and then strengthen in an area where we are short- central midfield, this would be logical. ;)

Reports in France this morning suggest that Blackburn Rovers’ long-term quest to sign Jerome Rothen is close to completion.

After training with Rovers for a couple of days earlier this week Sam Allardyce is keen on signing the French left-sided midfielder and Rothen has passed a medical.

The former Monaco midfielder, who is under contract at PSG until the end of 2010/2011, has reportedly received assurances that PSG will not block the move to Ewood Park.

Rothen: "I know the transfer will not cost 3 million euros, a deal should be reached in a reasonable manner soon."

Blackburn have decided not to pursue the signing of Nantes midfielder Aurelien Capoue after the 27-year-old also trained with the club this week.

It depends on what you want.

Attacking full backs - Warnock wins

Defensive full backs that go on runs - Givet wins

My reply was to the word 'team'.

Warnock is that much more commited to the team cause that he could play in most positions and do a better job then some.,

We have a number of players who can do that, what we need are specialist players for key positions.

Samba, Robinson and Emerton can come in positions 2,3 & 4 !

His commitment is what he is all about. We are severly lacking in many places and Warnock has an abundance of it.

So, sell for 8 Million and do you seriously trhink we would see the cash pumped back into the team, i think not.

We dont need to sell, so why lose one of our best players.

They Would See That We Already Have To Many Wide Players

So We Would Not Be Taken Seriously

And Also It Could Ruin Our Chances Of Getting Shut Of Warnock

I Will Never Forgive Him For Wigan

I strongly disagree matey

It would tell them that we are treating them with the same disrespect as they are demonstrating to us with their bargain booze bid for our player of the season, also, anyone who plays in those awful colours thoroughly deserve the bird.

Why would we want to get shut of Warnock, especially over one game, like many have already said, 99.9% of the time he turns up, tries and puts himself about, he we can't judge him on one poor game, everybody was bobbins in that game!

Warnock should stay, left sided players of his calibre on thin on the ground, why should we want our assets stripped???? Especially by a smarmy father ted??!!!

It could be argued that Samba, Emerton and Robinson show just as much commitment on the pitch as Warnock does! I would be in favour IF the money was reinvested into the first 11, primarily central midfield.

Warnock is a good player but I think we can survive without him but without a quality central midfield player we WILL struggle this season.

My mate got me Stevie Warnocks signature earlier in the summer at Liverpool Airport, the conversation went something like this...

My mate (in a dodgy scouse accent) - So then Stevie lad, whats the chances of you coming back to the Reds???

Stevie (in a similarly dodgy Scouse accent) - No, there's not much chance of that.

My mate - So are you gonna be leavin Blackburn this year then???

Stevie - To be honest, I'm really happy at Blackburn & I dont want to go, I've just got player of the season you know!!!

My mate - Fair enough, well my mate who is a Blackburn fan (me, hi-jaq) thinks your ace!!!

Stevie - Tell him thanks & that I'll see him at Ewood next season.

The end

If he goes I'd be gutted, but then again I dont think that it would be totally his descision... I think as soon as we signed Givet, the writing was on the wall... Sam would have been thinking that Stevie would be getting sold, so he made sure he had a replacement & that is the crazy frenchman.

If he does go, I hope it does'nt end up as one of those messy transfers that is allover the papers, with people saying this that & the other. I think he has been a great player & very loyal, but every player has thier price & we obviously need the cash to put into the midfield, and the one player on our books who is most likely to sell, unfortunately is Stevie Warnock.

I hope this one is done quickly so we can get on with sorting out the centre of the park!!! ;)

I totally agree with the above.

On the topic of the Wigan game, if you were not going to forgive him for his performance that day, then you could throw another 5 or 6 players into that list. The league is over 38 games and by and large, Stevey played well in the majority and gave his all in every single one of them. Why do you think Villa are in for him ? if there were better left backs out there then surely they'd have gone for them before Warnock. Also, Everton and Spurs were linked with him aswell, so it's not like Martin O'Neill is the only one who rates him.

His versatility is also essential for a smaller squad in the premiership, he can play very well in centre mid aswell as left wing and left back which is also another reason why he's been sought after.

When Sam writes his numbers down each week, he can only write No:1, then No2....No4.

:P

I'm not going to disagree with you regarding the midfield.

But selling Warnock will be a big mistake.

I don't see Givet being Stevie's replacement at all. You need more than 2 decent centre halves for a full season. Also, Nelsen's hamstring has been problematic at times in the past so I think Sam looked and saw that he could bring in Givet to compete for a place at either CB or LB for us and Sam knew we'd be loosing Ooijer and Moko in the summer so cover was needed.

Just don't think Sam would let Stevie go unless he had said he wanted to.

WARNOCK...over to you, Martin O'Neill...it would not surprise me if this runs and runs and the player still stays at Rovers.

If we have turned down a £2M bid for Andrews and accept a £4M bid for Warnock we have gone mad.

Warnock isn't perfect but is the type we need to keep to move forward.

By the way City....where's yer Santa Cruz.....

Warnock was allowed to speak to Villa over a week ago now. There was no illegal 'tap up'.

The reason he hasn't gone yet is either;

- We are holding out for more money

- We are lining up a replacement first

- Big Sam has made him have a change of heart and he now wants to stay.

I'm hoping for the third option, because I don't want him to go. But I think now its just down to money. I heard £6m, but think we should hold out for at least £8m.

I don't know where you heard that Warnock spoke to Villa last week, but in the LET yesterday page 24, he said,

"I want to stay here, " He believes that he can reach his ambitions at Rovers by helping us push on to Europe this season. If he goes it isn't becasue he has rocked the boat, he really wants to stay.

A very similar conversation that I had with him at the Rover's golf day.

It would be a mistake to sell him in my opinion, especially at the amount that MON is rumoured to have offered.

I hear that Salgado has just signed for you.

Must confess , I do enjoy the "Those were the days" sentiment on the breezeblock board!

I see Gary "Full support of the board and the supporters" Megson has been really active of late, about as noisy as your ground zulu.

I was at Bolton a few weeks ago for a meeting.

Do you know they have shortened their pitch by 5 yards...I saw them doing it.

I heard from a 100% source last week that he wants to go to Villa and asked to talk to them.

It was a surprise to me too, because I thought he was happy at Rovers based on some of his recent quotes.

I think it comes down to playing European football and chance of getting in the England world cup squad. (Rovers have offered him a new deal so I don't think its a move for bigger wages)

I hope i'm proved wrong because I don't want him to leave.

As we've seen in the past its difficult keeping a player who wants to leave, so the best we can hope is that we get as much £££ from them as possible.
