I don't think this has been mentioned but thought I would highlight it.

Just flicking through The Sun and they have a pull out today and in it a little talk about each team. In our bit listed as the transfer target they have - Craig Bellemy - how lazy is that <_<

Any movement on Rothen, Nicko ? I'm surprised we're not linked to a quality CENTRAL midfielder, aren't both Rothen and Capoue left sided primarily? We already have Warnock and Emerton as wide players forced to play inside, why buy more of what we have? I rated Rothen a lot a few years back, enough to keep him on my wish list - but he IS 31, and he's not considered a central midfielder ?

We already have Reid, Dunn, Grella and Andrews as decent players playing in the centre. I'm getting worried we're signing more of the same, because it's the only thing we can afford. I hope I am wrong.

I do agree with you in part, that we should be more flexible if possible with our wages if a good player becomes available, but the fact is, with Salgado, that the player in question is 33, with no premiership experience and plays in a position where we have 3 or 4 other players who either play there or can cover there.

Were all "assuming" being the key word here, that he's gonna slot in at right back, Just look at Campo for example, he played as a defender at Madrid, and then Allardyce converted him into a midfielder, he might be thinking some where along the lines again. Dosen't mean neccesarily beacuse he's a right back he can't play any where else, he might easily slot in front of the back 4

Completely different player right back or centre back only

I would say Rothen and Capoue are a lot less likely to happen today than they were yesterday or the day before...sounds like there may be trouble at t'mill over finances again.

Very peculiar.

It's possible, though he's played most of his career at full back. Campo started out at Bolton as a CB but was soo shocking in the early games that he was quickly moved into the holding role where his legs could handle the pace better. Turned out to be an inspired decision in the end for Sam, so you never know with Salgado. Still though, why sign a bona fida RB just to play him CM, why not just look at actual central midfielders ?

Yeah it does seem strange, I mean, would you invite these players over for trials and/or talks without knowing if you could indeed afford them if they impressed ?

Could it be that expected funds from a future sale (Gally maybe) have not materialised and Sam is left having to wait ?

Regarding Michel Salgado, He has an offer from Al-Rayyan who are a Qatari football club who im sure are offering him a final big pay day, so if he wanted the cash he would have been of to them, but as he's stated that he want's to try his luck in the Premier league so that stands us in good sted

Nicko, is it true that Warnock spoke to Villa last week and that he wants to leave?

I am pretty sure he didn't speak to Villa - even unofficially.

Not sure he wants to leave, but if the coffers are empty he may have to.

An awful lot of questions need answering right now.

Read the posts made on the subject and make your own mind up.

Nobody can give you anymore than has been posted, yet.

Is it time for people to start asking about 11 o'clockers and Luca Toni yet? :P

If that's what he's looking at for the midfield - yeah.

but, grella cost us £4m and we cant even get him on the pitch and would cost us at least above £3m to get a decent DM, which as nicko, says we are struggling to relase any more cash. Anyways we got to many players who can play that role, reid, grella, warnock, nzonzi, why would we want another one, but we need an attack minded player, someone who can run at defences, and provide the forward line with some goal scoring opportunities and can get betwen 7-10 goals from midfield.

Did you not say we could be looking at Salgado to play in front of the back four ?

here is a question bugging me about transfer budgets. Do we have a transfer budget in our operating plan without having to sell players? In other words - is our turnover only enough to break even?

just thought that the answer will dictate if warnock is sold.

I do like Warnock, but i love Blackburn Rovers.

If we sell Warnock for 10m, and get rid of gally.

and bring in-

Salgado, Rothen and emana/yebada lad then we have much stronger team.

A more likely scenario is:

Warnock Out

Rothen- In

Salgado- In

Rothen and Salgado's combined wage will either be covered by Warnock's departure or we will be slightly over. This won't leave us funds and wages to bring in another central midfielder without selling. Our most saleable midfield asset (Andrews) was rewarded a new contract recently. And if you consider when we sell our best players a big chunk is taken away it doesn't leave much left over for a top quality central midfielder.

If Warnock goes then i see Rothen coming in and Salgado and thats it.

It might be just me but i think its a crap deal. It might make us stronger in terms of the number of players but in terms of quality it won't make us that much stronger and still will not solve our central midfield problems.

Interview by the newspaper Le Parisien, Jérôme Rothen returned to his visit to England and will now have a choice for its future.

Invited by the leaders of Blackburn to visit the club and perform physical tests, Rothen found that the English club has "nothing to envy to France" for "infrastructure" and "how".

The left hander was able to make first contact with players he knows, Gaël Givet, El Hadji Diouf et Benny McCarthy (NDLR : victorieux avec Porto en 2004 de la Ligue des champions face au Monaco de Jérôme Rothen )". The left-hander was able to make a first contact with players he knows: "I have talked with Gaël Givet, El Hadji Diouf and Benny McCarthy (Editor's note: winner with Porto in 2004 of the Champions League to face Monaco de Jérôme Rothen). For Paris, the visit was "positive."

Regarding the fact that British newspapers reported that Rothen no longer really in the plans of the Premier League club, the manager, Sam Allardyce took personally to correct the fault, "I heard it and I could talk with him. He showed me the paper and apologized because it is not what he meant. My English has improved, but basically he told me he wanted me. "

After this visit, time for reflection: "I have signed nothing and I still gave me a few days of reflection. I have 31 years and I still have two-year contract at PSG, should not be rush. And then it's two months since I'm in the dark, so it can still wait a bit. "Rothen believes that the transfer is on track:" It is still found an agreement. But if I'm OK to go to England, the hard part has been done.

The player said that his transfer will not cost 3 million euros. This would be the direction of the PSG that would have provided: "I had the assurance of the leaders in Paris on this point. In a reasonable manner, we need everyone finds his account."

Finally, Le Parisien reported recently that Majorca, came to the new Jérôme Rothen. The latter confirmed while clarifying things: "There have been hits, but I am wary of many keys."

Point still stands, Nicko hasn't really added to his earlier comment.

I'd say it is fairly unlikely we would allow our player of the year to be in talks with a rival club for a week with no clear indication that they are going to meet our valuation of the player. Just a thought. Unless Sam is trying to force the deal through.
