WHERE HAS THE MONEY GONE?

I think it's time to start asking serious questions...

As posted many, many times here in both simple to understand language by dozens of posters and in detailed fiscal terms by philipl and others the answer to your blurted out rant is that

THE VAST MAJORITY OF OUR MONEY GOES DIRECTLY TO THE PLAYERS - surprised?

We run at a loss - that's why we have a debt to service. There is no-one behind the scenes pocketing the money you refer to. Even reducing our debt will free up money in the future by reducing the money required to service debt.

Look under your pillow, laddie, maybe the tooth fairy has been. Good luck with your future life on benefits - I bet you never get what you deserve. Oh what a pity - boo hoo, boo hoo.......................................

We had 4 million saved up for carlos. we used that to buy Givet

I suspect that the money that was earmarked for Carlos went to pay off Ince, Knox and Mathias. Indeed, I would suspect that rather more than £4 million was required for that. In the summer we have parted company with Bobby Downes and Barry Whitbread. I assume money would have been required to terminate their contracts. Add in the fact that the club budgeted for a higher finishing place last season and it's not hard to understand why there is no money for new players above what we have spent already.

Don't think anyone has a problem with that, however its highly debatable whether Warnock out and Salgado + Rothen in is actually 'bringing in better quality'.

Who said that is what would happen? Im sure if we got a good fee for Warnock then we would shift the goalposts on our targets. Sam wont sell if it weakens us.

Yeah, this is what really annoys me about the last game of last season. We were so awful and obviously not bothered against West Brom. If we'd have won that game, we'd have jumped up two places in the table. Unsure how much more money that brings, but I bet it would have been a substantial amount to go towards wages/fees for new players. I think we really shot ourselves in the foot in that last game (obviously we were beyond rubbish for half the season, but yeah!).

700k a place last season - closer to 800k a place this season.

I know it was poor, but it was more like an exhibition game due to the Tugay farewell. Not like the Brum display the season before.

Givet + N'Zonzi+ Kalinic= All spent.

Givet cost around £4 million?, N'Zonzi 500k to a Million? and Kalinic over £6 million.

The figures here seem about right http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/wettbewe...uebersicht.html switch to check last season as well.. also what happened to the Vil money, surely the money for the perm transfer was taken out of last years budget.

Wasnt 8 mill used to pay off last years operating loss ?

We made an operating loss of 3.1m prior to the sale of Bents.. and purchase of Grella and Andrews.. last year we apparently made a profit. JWs comments about 85% of our turnover also excludes player sales/purchases, given the money for RSC and bents, I am pretty sure this puts us comfortably in the black for two years running.

Still I trust in Sams decisions, should not whinge too much, overall so far the squad has been improved, its just a shame we could not ship out at least one crock from our squad lol

So it is quite a bit then. West Brom should have let Tuggs score, ha!

Don't remind me about that Brum game, horrible stuff!

skysports - 09/10 season preview

An area of concern for the Rovers faithful will be injuries to midfield trio Stephen Reid, David Dunn and Brett Emerton. Their potential absences, combined with the lack of form shown by Morten Gamst Pedersen, could restrict the amount of creativity in the Blackburn engine room.

From that article:

Best signing: Franco Di Santo

The Italian could be playing for a move during his loan stint.

Excellent research Sky Sports. Di Santo is from Argentina, and I doubt he's playing for a move.

£2.9million has gone on some building work, nobody is saying anything about it but it was mentioned in the blues bar after the Hibs game.

Another rumour was that around £5million was being kept aside because of the reduce season ticket prices to cover costs.

Theres around £8m gone.

Excellent injection of realism for those complaining about the lack of funding.

you call someone a donkey... then think we can get 15m for warnock!

read what I said !!!! I never said I think we can get £15 million for him .... I said we should let him go for no more than £15 mill And anyway Pompey got £18 mill for Johnson soooo why not

read what I say before commenting ....

I don't think it can be £5m or if it is it's probably not going to be that much. As we stand at 18,000 season tickets sold the club have taken as much as they did with 14,000 last season. Of course overall we still might take less ticket money because our matchday ticket sales might raise less, but I can't believe it would be as much as a £5m gap.

Williams should step a side or back his manager which he put in.........What does it matter in which order we get our targets.....sell first then buy or Buy Now and then sell........Stop playing games Mr Williams and back your man..........Rovers will be stepping into a "football quciksand" if they dont play there cards right...............Back your manager Mr Williams.

T

If 16000 fans paid £400 a piece for tikets rovers would take 6.4 million.

If as rumoured 18500 buy at £200 a piece rovers take 3.7 million.

Obviously this is a simplistic view and rovers would NEVER sell 16000 tickets at £400! but there woud certainly not be £5million difference (more realistically a max of £2.5 million or less

And where do you think John Williams is going to get the money from? The club is up for sale, John Williams is having to manage the finances of the club without having a magical pot of money to dip into. He is having to balance the books while trying to reduce to wage bill. The club have had to drop season ticket prices simply because the fans are unable to pay what is the 'going rate' in the Premier League. Other clubs - mid table clubs not the top four or five - are able to charge higher prices and thus gain extra income. However, we are having to compete with those clubs in the transfer market.

Jack Walker always said that the club had to become self funding. That is what is happening. I have supported the club for almost 50 years and throughout the majority of that time Blackburn Rovers has always been "a selling club". Only Jack's wealth gave us the opportunity to change that. Now that Jack is no longer here we have simply reverted back to having to balance the books. I really don't believe that John Williams is playing games. He is simply doing his best to make sure that this club doesn't go the same way as Leeds United, Southampton etc.

IF we manage to get £10-12m for Warnock then I would say sell. I really rate him as a player but we have to know when the right time is to sell players. Realistically at 28 later this year, Warnock isn't going to get much better, and as a left back playing for a club in lower/mid table we're not going to get much more than that for him unless he starts playing fairly regular for England or if we were a Champions League club. Givet has done an excellent job at LB for us so far. Also since quite a bit of the RSC money has been swallowed up, one would hope at least that this £12m would be pretty much entirely available to Sam.

This would allow us to buy a midfielder of real quality for maybe £6-7m and still have money in the bank. Additionally if this midfielder impresses for us it would mean we'd probably make a profit on him when it came to selling him.

This plan obviously requires Villa to pay that much (unlikely) and for the bank to allow us to keep the whole of the transfer if it happens (hopefully likely since they got so much from RSC), but if it happens I think we'll end up a stronger team. Obviously the current bid isnt even worthy of discussion.

Villa ITK says that they’re coming back with a second bid for Warnock and that they are confident of getting him.

Local press in Brum saying £6 million will be enough for Warnock.

Should see if we can sell Samba too for £8 million and then we should have enough money for this amazing central midfielder we keep suggesting is available and wanting to come to Rovers??

btw not shouting just differentiating.

Do you know then how our players are treated in the accounts? Do we write off transfer fees to P&L. Do we carry them as assets on the balance sheet in full or do we amortise them over the term of the contract. Truth is you have no idea.

Your second point absolutely backs up my argument. What is the point of selling players if the bank or the trustees are going to take the money off you (trouser it). You may as well either keep the player or do an exchange deal. All it does is to reduce the owners investment in the club but does the team no good at all.

Handing out fat contracts to the likes of Andrews and Gally(no club can afford him after going out on loan half a dozen times now)doesnt help the cause.......Lucky for Williams his contract is going to on run out so saving his blusses..........I agree Rovers are stuck with the banks sucking all the revenue out but Thats what you get when you make a deal with the Devil........he wants your soul In return......Back your manager is all iam saying..........very basic...Why should Big sam have to pay for the previous managers mistakes...........

Sell Warnock for 10 to 12mill, and knowing Rovers we will replace with a loan and/or free signing. 3 days before the season starts, and we might lose one of our better players. All this to bring in players, we dont need and in positions that are already covered. What a shambles! If we sell Stevie W for 10mill + then il only be happy if we get a quality central midfielder, with majority of that money. We should stop mucking about every season, by letting our best players leave for over the hill replacements

It's not a shambles if it hasn't happened yet... ;)
